Previs/Layout
Brian Pohl has over 16 years of experience as a graphic designer, visual effects artist, technical director, and previs supervisor. A veteran of George Lucas’ previs team and ILM's art department, Pohl is credited for creating or supervising previs on over 22 feature films including Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002), I, Robot (2004) , Open Season (2006), Star Trek (2009) and Battle: Los Angeles (2011).
Education
Previsualization is rapidly becoming the cornerstone of any complex film, broadcast, or video game project. However, very few educational venues provide instruction on how to become a previs artist. Since 2002, Pohl has routinely taught previs classes in several California educational facilities like Gnomon School of Visual Effects, The Academy of Art University in San Francisco and Studio Arts.
Community
In 2009 Pohl, along with five other previs industry specialists, co-founded the Previsualization Society. This trade organization is dedicated to the advancement of previs within the creative arts. To further expand on its mandate, Pohl travels worldwide to countries like Columbia, Denmark, Signapore and Canada providing master classes and lectures on previsualization.
