Togo (i/ˈtoʊɡoʊ/), officially the Togolese Republic (French: République Togolaise), is a country in West Africa bordered by Ghana to the west, Benin to the east and Burkina Faso to the north. It extends south to the Gulf of Guinea, where its capital Lomé is located. Togo covers 57,000 square kilometres (22,000 sq mi), making it one of the smallest countries in Africa, with a population of approximately 7.5 million.
Togo is a tropical, sub-Saharan nation, highly dependent on agriculture, with a climate that provides good growing seasons. The official language is French, with many other languages spoken in Togo, particularly those of the Gbe family. The largest religious group in Togo consists of those with indigenous beliefs, and there are significant Christian and Muslim minorities. Togo is a member of the United Nations, African Union, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, South Atlantic Peace and Cooperation Zone, La Francophonie and Economic Community of West African States.
From the 11th to the 16th century, various tribes entered the region from all directions. From the 16th century to the 18th century, the coastal region was a major trading center for Europeans in search of slaves, earning Togo and the surrounding region the name "The Slave Coast". In 1884, Germany declared Togoland a protectorate. After World War I, rule over Togo was transferred to France. Togo gained its independence from France in 1960.

The War of the Worlds is a science fiction novel by English author H. G. Wells first serialized in 1897 in the UK by Pearson's Magazine and in the US by Cosmopolitan magazine. The novel's first appearance in hardcover was in 1898 from publisher William Heinemann of London. Written between 1895 and 1897, it is one of the earliest stories that detail a conflict between mankind and an extraterrestrial race. The novel is the first-person narrative of both an unnamed protagonist in Surrey and of his younger brother in London as southern England is invaded by Martians. The novel is one of the most commented-on works in the science fiction canon.
The plot has been related to invasion literature of the time. The novel has been variously interpreted as a commentary on evolutionary theory, British imperialism, and generally Victorian superstitions, fears and prejudices. At the time of publication, it was classified as a scientific romance, like Wells' earlier novel The Time Machine. The War of the Worlds has been both popular (having never been out of print) and influential, spawning half a dozen feature films, radio dramas, a record album, various comic book adaptations, a television series, and sequels or parallel stories by other authors. It has even influenced the work of scientists, notably Robert Goddard, who (inspired by the book) invented both the liquid fueled rocket and multistage rocket, which resulted in the Apollo 11 moon landing 55 years later.

Travel video about destination Strada Delle Dolomiti in Austria. The Strada Delle Dolomiti that stretches across 109 kilometre across the mountain landscape of the Southern Tyrol is a superb and dramatic experience in any season.Past centuries-old farmhouses, mountain peaks tease the sky majestically and whether it’s mountain climbing or hiking, the Dolomites offer something for everyone and for motorcars, cyclists and motorbikes, the mountain roads pose a real challenge. Three pinnacles are considered to be the essence of the Dolomites, namely the Western, Large and Small Pinnacle. The view of the three pinnacles is magnificent as Nature manifests itself as the petrified air of high altitude, the fickleness of the wind and the blinding light of eternal snow. Cortina D´Ampezzo is Italy’s m...
https://www.expedia.com/Warsaw.d178317.Destination-Travel-Guides For centuries Warsaw has been a center of refinement and knowledge. Its strategic position has also made it one of the most invaded countries in Europe. Shaped by history’s defining events, World War Two, and the closing of the Iron Curtain, Warsaw is a survivor, and has risen from the ashes of war and the shackles of Communism. Its true heart is its Old Town, the site of the Warsaw Uprising, one of the most heroic resistance actions ever seen against the nazis. After the war much of it, such as the opulent Royal Castle, was painstakingly rebuilt. One of the few statues not destroyed by the German army, is the mermaid Syrena, the symbol and protector of Warsaw. Visit St Johns Cathedral and St Anne’s Church, whose interio...

Despite a long and sometimes tragic history of invasion and resistance, this thriving business capital has poetry, music and literature percolating through its cobblestones. Dubliner, Oscar Wilde once said “life is too important to be taken seriously.” While Dublin proudly honours its past, it is equally passionate about enjoying each and every new day. Nowhere is life celebrated more than in the city’s nearly 700 pubs. Nothing matters more to Dubliners than having a good time or, as locals call it, the craic. Of all the gifts, Dublin has given to the world, perhaps the most intoxicating are its stories. Originally built for the sons of the Irish gentry, the ivy-covered stone buildings of Trinity College are home to some of the oldest remaining manuscripts in the world, including the 100...
