VAC is leading our community in the fight against HIV and STIs. The charity works to confront the continuing challenges of the HIV epidemic and, increasingly, the overall health and wellbeing of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex (GLBTI) community.

VAC works to strengthen the independence, dignity, health and wellbeing of people living with HIV (PLHIV) and the LGBTI community; reduce the transmission of HIV and STIs; and enhance health outcomes for PLHIV. In particular, VAC is invested in bringing the AIDS epidemic to an end.

Through a membership contribution, together we can make a substantial difference to the quality of life of people living with HIV in Victoria and work towards reducing the prevalence of HIV in our community. You will be helping fund all the services and activities we provide;

  • HIV risk reduction education campaigns
  • Counselling services
  • A safe and comfortable space to access essential practical and emotional support services
  • Credible and up-to-date information on HIV
  • Specialist medical practitioners, who provide bulk bill testing and treatment
  • Emergency financial relief including food, clothing and furniture
  • In-home care and support
  • Therapeutic treatments and groups

VAC/GMHC is actually two associations. There are historical differences between the associations which were due to accessing funding in the 1980s. Currently though, VAC holds the funding contracts, GMHC holds the assets and they are governed by a joint Board.

Despite GMHC’s name, we would encourage all members to become members of both associations.

If you would like to become a member of the Victorian AIDS Council and/or Gay Men’s Health Centre please complete the online form below and follow the prompts. Please note that we will send you a reminder when it is time to renew your membership.
