Gray langurs or Hanuman langurs, the most widespread langurs of South Asia, are a group of Old World monkeys constituting the entirety of the genus Semnopithecus. All taxa have traditionally been placed in the single species Semnopithecus entellus. In 2001, it was recommended that several distinctive former subspecies should be given species status, so that seven species are recognized. A taxonomic classification with fewer species has also been proposed.Genetic evidence suggests that the Nilgiri langur and purple-faced langur, which usually are placed in the genus Trachypithecus, actually belong in Semnopithecus.
Gray langurs are large and fairly terrestrial, inhabiting forest, open lightly wooded habitats, and urban areas on the Indian subcontinent. Most species are found at low to moderate altitudes, but the Nepal gray langur and Kashmir gray langur occur up to 4,000 metres (13,000 ft) in the Himalayas.
These langurs are largely gray (some more yellowish), with a black face and ears. Externally, the various species mainly differ in the darkness of the hands and feet, the overall color and the presence or absence of a crest. Typically all north Indian gray langurs have their tail tips looping towards their head during a casual walk whereas all south Indian and Sri Lankan gray langurs have an inverted "U" shape or a "S" tail carriage pattern. There are also significant variations in the size depending on the sex, with the male always larger than the female. The head-and-body length is from 51 to 79 cm (20 to 31 in). Their tails, at 69 to 102 cm (27 to 40 in) are always longer than their bodies. Langurs from the southern part of their range are smaller than those from the north. At 26.5 kg (58 lb), the heaviest langur ever recorded was a male Nepal gray langur. The larger gray langurs are rivals for the largest species of monkey found in Asia. The average weight of gray langurs is 18 kg (40 lb) in the males and 11 kg (24 lb) in the females.
A demo of gray langur monkey video shot in the wild in India, primarily at Kanha and Bandhavgar National Parks, Includes footage of langurs feeding, running, playing and other other behaviors including footage of babies nursing, wrestling, jumping, playing, and doing typical baby monkey stuff, including humorous and funny video. The Elephants & the Grey Langurs were filmed at the Resort hotel. The safari park was bordering the hotel and many animals including Elephants & Langurs roamed in the hotel premises frequently during the day & night. At night fall due to the presence of Elephants within the premises guests were not allowed to move outside the hotel rooms without hotel personnel. The Elephant in the first scene was filmed near our room and in rain and from under a big umbrella :) One day we saw a young tusker near the resort entrance and was filmed from our safari vehicle. The Grey Langurs were always a wonderful sight in the morning at the car park. Here you will see Torque Marcque, Grey Langur & Purple Faced Monkeys. I had never filmed the Purple faced type and it was an achievement to capture them as they were endemic. You will see hear at 1.03 mins a Torque Marcque had slowly crept inside the resort rooms which was open for cleaning. I spotted it while I was walking along the corridor. Luckily I was able to film it at that time and then the resort staff came to send it away. I had to film the purple faced monkeys rather late in the evening and it looks a bit dark. It would have come out clearer if I could have done it during the day time. I hope that you will enjoy these amazing three species in their element. Grey langurs are a genus of Old World monkeys once thought to be a single species. Seven distinct species are now recognised, which are widespread throughout south Asia. The most northerly species are generally larger and heavier than the southern langurs and walk with their tails pointing forward, while southern langurs point their tails backwards. Grey langurs, with their black hands and face, are also known as Hanuman langurs after the monkey-god, and so are considered sacred in the Hindu religion.

Bangladesh is the world’s largest delta. It has Bay-of-Bengal in its south. And has Himalayan in its north. Here, for such geographical conveniences, various seasons beautify ecosystems differently. Diversified flora and fauna occur here due to seasonal diversity. Once this country was very rich with wildlife. But, since the beginning of the last century, this richness has been declining due to population growth and unsustainable development. Gradual degradation of forests, wetlands and rural bushes has made wildlife endangered. Besides, wildlife’s population has become fragmented due to climatic and environmental distress. About 12 species of vertebrates have already disappeared from our nature, of which most are mammals. The remaining species of mammals are also endangered in this altere...
Gayal is another large sized mammal of our country. They are endangered all over the world. They can be infrequently seen in some places of Hill Tracts of Bangladesh. Gayal is the largest among cow type animals and it is critically endangered in our country. Species of Primates of Bangladesh are now endangered due to paucity of food and habitat. Gibbon, Slow loris and all 3 available species of Langurs are now declining. Among them, Gibbon, Phayre’s Langur and Gray Langur are critically endangered. Slow loris is the smallest among primates of Bangladesh. They are tree-living nocturnal animal. This mammal is critically endangered in Bangladesh. Pollinator and seed disperser this primate is disappearing from our country due to food and habitat shortage. Gibbons are a remarkable inhabitant of...

The Langurs are special among the mammals. They are more developed in terms of physical strength and intelligence. Hence, different species of Langurs have been able to set their habitats in different regions of the world. They are also found in Bangladesh. Three species of Langurs are found in our country. Capped Langur, Grey Langur and Phayre’s Langur. Among them, the Phayre’s Langurs are special, and they are inseparable part of the ecosystem. They are not so different form us in social life like feeding, breeding and rearing. The Northeastern and Southeastern forests of Bangladesh are dense and rich with fruit trees. These forests are also rich with tall trees that are necessary for foraging of the Phayre’s Langurs. So, the Phayre’s Langurs are seen foraging mostly in these forests. ...
World's Weirdest - Proboscis Monkey Documentary - Documentary Movies The proboscis monkey (Nasalis larvatus) or long-nosed monkey, known as the bekantan in Indonesia, is a reddish-brown arboreal Old World monkey that is endemic to the southeast Asian island of Borneo. This species co-exists with the Bornean orangutan.[3] It belongs in the monotypic genus Nasalis, although the pig-tailed langur has traditionally also been included in this genus.[4] The monkey also goes by the Indonesian name monyet belanda ("Dutch monkey"), or even orang belanda ("Dutchman"), as Indonesians remarked that the Dutch colonisers often had similarly large bellies and noses. This species of monkey is easily identifiable because of its unusually large nose. The proboscis monkey is a large species, being one o...
