Encinitas is a beach city in the North County area of San Diego County, California. Located within Southern California, it is approximately 25 miles (40 km) north of San Diego and about 95 miles (153 km) south of Los Angeles. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 59,518, up from 58,014 at the 2000 census. The largest single industry in the city is the growing of ornamental flowers, particularly poinsettias (Paul Ecke Ranch).
Encinitas is a Spanish name meaning "little oaks".
The city was incorporated after a majority vote of 69.3% in 1986 from the communities of historic Encinitas, new Encinitas (Village Park, etc.), Leucadia, Cardiff-by-the-Sea and Olivenhain. These communities retain their identities and distinctive flavors.
Encinitas can be divided into five areas:
San Diego /ˌsæn diːˈeɪɡoʊ/ (Spanish for "Saint Didacus") is a major city in California, on the coast of the Pacific Ocean in Southern California, approximately 120 miles (190 km) south of Los Angeles and immediately adjacent to the border with Mexico.
With an estimated population of 1,381,069 as of July 1, 2014, San Diego is the eighth-largest city in the United States and second-largest in California. San Diego is the birthplace of California and is known for its mild year-round climate, natural deep-water harbor, extensive beaches, long association with the U.S. Navy, and recent emergence as a healthcare and biotechnology development center.
Historically home to the Kumeyaay people, San Diego was the first site visited by Europeans on what is now the West Coast of the United States. Upon landing in San Diego Bay in 1542, Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo claimed the entire area for Spain, forming the basis for the settlement of Alta California 200 years later. The Presidio and Mission of San Diego, founded in 1769, formed the first European settlement in what is now California. In 1821, San Diego became part of newly independent Mexico, and in 1850, became part of the United States following the Mexican–American War and the admission of California to the union.
Moonlight State Beach is a state beach in Encinitas, California. Located one fifth of a mile beyond the point where Encinitas Boulevard turns into B Street after it crosses Highway 101, Moonlight Beach
The beach area is appropriate for both children's and adults' recreation. It is popular with both tourists and residents, and it is one of the most visited beaches in Encinitas. This sand beach is used for surfing, swimming, surf fishing, beach volleyball, and bonfires.
Early female settlers washed clothing in nearby Cottonwood Creek, then provided picnics for their families while the laundry dried. Land prospector J. S. Pitcher, who owned much of Encinitas, built a bathhouse, playground, boardwalk, dance hall, and several picnic areas. Between 1915 and 1925, Moonlight Beach began to attract North County residents for social outings. Popular events included horse races. At that time, during low tide, one could drive a Model T north on the beach all the way to Oceanside.

I drove along the California coast for a couple days. I saw some interesting towns, state beaches, locals hanging out, tourists enjoying the beaches and sun. I shot some video footage, did some photography work, metal detecting (after hearing of a Spanish ship loaded with treasure from Manila Philippines) shipwrecked long ago in the area). The Fisher Gold Bug 2 did better in the sands that I expected. I was hungry after that, found a burger joint called Angelo's, good cheeseburgers. Encinitas California seems a bit small, because you can be driving along and suddenly you're not there anymore, off into another coastal town. I'm sure it has more people than my impression. I thought of this town from George4title talking about it lately. Anyway, it is very beautiful, as is most of the...
Encinitas CA is our personal favorite beach town in all of San Diego. Encinitas just happens to have the vibe and California beach lifestyle that we love and not to mention some our favorite restaurants are in Encinitas CA. We love Encinitas's laid back culture, Moonlight Beach and Beacon's Beach with a ton of activities. We love the farmers market at Paul Ecke Elementary school on Sundays, the local coffee roasters and healthy dining options. We love to visit the meditation gardens near Swami's beach for the best surfing. Encinitas also has the best San Diego fish shops - the Fish Shop for the best fish tacos in San Diego and Fish 101 on the Coast highway. We also appreciate the ocean view library in Encinitas CA! On my most recent trip to California, my friend and I filmed some fun footage at one of our favorite vintage and thrifting stores: Flashbacks. Flashbacks is a fun buy/sell/trade store with two locations (Encinitas and Hillcrest). With a huge supply of dresses, tops, jackets and shoes, they've got your usual thrifting shopping experience, but the best part is the quirky, era-themed pieces like wigs and crazy ensembles. Definitely head to Flashbacks if you want to DIY an outfit for an over-the-top party. Of course, every San Diegan knows that if you visit the Encinitas location, you have to grab some food from Swami's Cafe (I recommend the Acai bowl) and head over to the Meditation Gardens for some incredible views of the Pacific. Flashbacks is located at 576 South Coast Highway 101, En...

November 9, 2012 www.LifeofBrennan.com There are moments in life when you just need to be bold and follow your heart. For me it came just before the end of my sophomore year of college. I realized I was on a path where I’d most likely graduate, get a job, start a family, and work until retirement, and where many people may aspire to have all this, I knew I needed something different. With the help of a cousin I was able to get connected with an orphanage in Guatemala where I could volunteer. So I took a semester off and flew to Central America to begin what would be a life changing experience. I once heard that life is 10 percent of what happens to us and 90 percent of how we react to it, and by being immersed in that culture and living with those children I learned this lesson first...
