Amir Mohamed el Khalifa, better known by his stage name Oddisee, is an American rapper and producer from Washington, DC. He is one third of Diamond District. He was also part of the Low Budget Crew.
Oddisee was raised by his African American mother and Sudanese father. According to a National Public Radio interview with el Khalifa, Prince George's County is one of the wealthiest African American counties in the nation but borders some of the DC area's roughest parts. He moved to Washington, DC after high school.
In 2010, Oddisee released Traveling Man on Mello Music Group. His Odd Spring mixtape was listed on the Washington Post's Best Local Hip-Hop mixtapes of 2010. In 2011, Oddisee released Rock Creek Park, which was ranked as a Mixtape of the Week by Stereogum.Odd Seasons, a collection of EPs released throughout the previous 12 months, was also released that year.
He released the album titled People Hear What They See in 2012.The Beauty in All, his first instrumental release since Rock Creek Park, was released in 2013. In that year, he also released Tangible Dream. In 2015, he released The Good Fight.
A music group is a group of two or more musicians who perform instrumental or vocal music.
Music group or Music Group may also refer to:
Mello Music Group, also referred to as MMG, is an American independent record label based in Tucson, Arizona. Founded in 2007 by Michael Tolle, it has released hip hop compilations and albums by producers and emcees such as Oddisee, Apollo Brown, yU, Open Mike Eagle, L'Orange, and Rapper Big Pooh. In 2012 MTV Hive described MMG as having a "dedication to intelligent, street-wise boom bap," though the label has released a number of purely instrumental albums as well.
An early form of the label, Mello Mixtapes, was founded by Arizona hip hop fan Michael Tolle in 2004. As a college deejay Tolle releases a series of hip hop mixtapes, also avidly collecting vinyl.
Tolle graduated from the University of Arizona in 2006, and afterwards had founded an educational company that catered to international professors and teachers on sabbatical. After working with the company for a year, he decided he'd prefer working with music. He first founded Mello Music Group in the fall of 2007, using his laptop and cell phone to organize the business from his home in Tucson, Arizona.
The Good Fight is a 2008 feature-length documentary about the 2007 Florida State Football season.
The Good Fight follows Bobby Bowden and the Florida State Football team for over 18 months as they faced off-season training, unprecedented injuries, critical media, family challenges, and one of the nation's toughest schedules in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
As of January 2009, several screenings had been shown across the United States, but an official nationwide release date had not been announced.
Plato describes "The Form of the Good", or more literally "the idea of the good" (ἡ τοῦ ἀγαθοῦ ἰδέα), in his dialogue the Republic (508e2–3), speaking through the character of Socrates. Plato introduces several forms in his works, but identifies the Form of the Good as the superlative. This form is the one that allows a philosopher-in-training to advance to a philosopher-king. It cannot be clearly seen or explained, but once it is recognized, it is the form that allows one to realize all the other forms.
The first references we see in The Republic to the Form of the Good can be found within the conversation between Glaucon and Socrates (454 c–d). When trying to answer such difficult questions pertaining to the definition of justice, Plato identifies that we should not “introduce every form of difference and sameness in nature” instead we must focus “on the one form of sameness and difference that was relevant to the particular ways of life themselves” which is the Form of the Good. This Form is the basis for understanding all other Forms, it is what allows us to understand everything else. Through the conversation between Socrates and Glaucon (508 a–c) Plato analogizes the Form of the Good with the sun as it is what allows us to see things. Here, Plato describes how the sun allows for sight. But he makes a very important distinction, “sun is not sight” but it is “the cause of sight itself.” As the sun is in the visible realm, the Form of Good is in the intelligible realm. It is “what gives truth to the things known and the power to know to the knower”. It is not only the “cause of knowledge and truth, it is also an object of knowledge”.

June 26, 2015by SURAYA MOHAMED Amir Elkhalifa, a.k.a. Oddisee, is an emergent standout in hip-hop. The Prince Georges County, Md., native says he made his new album, The Good Fight, as a reminder that music comes before hip-hop; that music can trigger indescribable feelings; that music is a meditation on our capacity to love; and, finally, that our ambition and greed are in constant conflict with our sense of propriety. Simply put, Oddisee's music is genius. He creates just the right amount of space, allowing it to breathe with perfectly timed cadences and vamps. His deceptively intricate rhythm tracks interlock with complementary harmonies and brilliantly constructed bars in ways that appeal to both diehard hip-hop heads — those who decipher and analyze lyrics as a hobby — and those who...

Bob Boilen | March 10, 2017 — Out of over 6,000 entries — more submissions than we've ever received — Tank And The Bangas won, unanimously, this year's Tiny Desk Contest. I fully expected their victory performance here at NPR headquarters in D.C. to be celebratory. I didn't know we'd all end up in tears. This band combines R&B; with hip-hop's poetry and rollercoaster storytelling, with a flair and alchemy that could only come from New Orleans. Their winning song, "Quick," mixes liquor and revenge — a sort of modern day take on a great folk tale, but peppered with their own idiosyncratic flair and humor. What I couldn't see, until they took over my desk, was the depth of their lyricism and the versatility of their players. At one moment fun-filled funk, the next laid-back jazz, rhythm-drive...

I know that Yeezus was a mortal man
And Hov ain't Jahova, just a normal man
You see we all lambs to the slaughter
We all die but some die harder
Which one are you, either you're a runner or run shit
You a fetcher or you summon shit
And I'm in the definition of a martyr let my name live on
As the king without the a throne with all the honour
[Verse 1]
I been in this game for years, it made me intelligent
Stupid niggas fade into irrelevance
I'm permanently settled in like melanin, adamantium skeleton
And sickness immune to modern medicine
Fighting ancient evils on the steeples and pulpits
But now a days, we call it beefing, drama and bullshit
Most of these niggas half man but the full bitch
Wolves on full moons that's only useful for smelling scents
Me, I'm a predator, and I'm telling you get the fuck from around me
'Fore they find you in the bushes with hella dents
This blood sport y'all only bleeding between the legs
And I'm in no need of eggs my lady got full hips
I'm after the presidents representing the Capitol
Any rapper from my residence I promise I'm better than
Citizen of the globe any place that I ever been
I pissed on, that was for the wolves get a full sniff
[Verse 2]
Niggas want to bring the 90′s back
I'm still using 70′s slang, that shit behind me jack
Born in the 80′s Ronald Reagan try to slide me crack
The walking dead was hunted by Feds, yo where the lively at?
Out of trouble & on the hustle where I be at
I live within the jungle & on the humble the silent cat
Louder the lion the louder the lying
The closer you niggas get to death to death the louder you crying
Holler at me, won't get a response I'm over seas
When the phone tone change then I'm gone you know the steeze
Islam salaam is the belief
It ain't synonymous with bombs but I'm one over beats
Know you can't box with odd your arms will never reach
So trying to talk to god the odds you'll never speak
But you could start by washing both of your feet
And praying with open hands
And bending both of your knees
[Hook]
[Verse 3]
See now a days we worship the stars
That do nothing to deserve the applause
That they receive, we huddle below the bar sub par is the new degree
With the artists that's out now guess it mustn't be hard to reach
If anybody come even close to being a beast
They see them selves as god or regard them selves as the chief
The streets is hungry for kings, the kings are hunting for rings
My nigga, I don't wear jewelry so fuck who rocking a chain
I'm just rocking a beat, mo I'm just doing my thing
Making money from rapping who claiming that talk is cheap
But record sales and talent were never one in the same
I'd be running the game if that rule were ever to change
But this a tangible dream and I don't do it for fame
I just do it for heads, I just do it for bread
I don't do it for names, fuck who standing in line
Focusing in the guest list
I'm focused on my set list
