Not to be confused with Pellinki, an island in Finland. Pelling is a town in the district of West Sikkim, India. Pelling is nestled at an altitude of 2,150 m. The town is located at a distance of 10 km from the district headquarters of Geyzing. Around 10 kms from Geyzing, Pelling is today emerging as the second biggest tourist destination in the state after Gangtok. Although in itself it is little more than a strip of road lined with hotels, its main USP is the breathtaking view it offers of the Khangchendzonga and surrounding ranges, as well as the easy access it provides to tourist spots in the area.
Pemayangste monastery is less than a kilometre from Pelling, while a 40 minute walk on the hill opposite the monastery takes you to Sanga Choling monastery built in 1697, one of the first in the state. Pelling’s serene environment and picturesque setting is perfect for nice nature walks and small treks. A destination for all seasons, Pelling has hotels and resorts catering to all budgets.

The Singshore suspension bridge, the highest bridge in Sikkim and the second highest bridge in the Asian continent with over 100 meters in height is a little away from Pelling town . The total length span of the bridge is approximately 200 meters, an engineering accomplishment made possible by connecting two gorges in West of Sikkim.
The downward view from the bridge is overwhelming with the sight of beautiful waterfalls and breathtaking views of the green hillsides above are pleasing.

Pelling
Pelling is a small town that is situated in the state of Sikkim in the West Sikkim region. The town is a laid back place and it attracts travelers from different parts of the country. Pelling is located near the foothills of Kanchenjunga and one can witness an outstanding view of the mountain from here. There are numerous scenic spots that one can visit in the area. The main attractions in the place are the monasteries that dot the countryside. Visiting these tranquil monasteries is a good way to spend time in the region. Some of the main places are Pemayansgtse Monastery and Sangachoeling Monastery. There are many sculptures and paintings that you can find in these places and they are not crowded. One can get a panoramic view from the Sangachoeling Monastery. If you are visiting during the month of January, you can see a dance called Cham in the Pemayansgtse Monastery.
The Sangay Waterfall is situated 10 kilometers from the town of Pelling and this is a good picnic spot. Another interesting place is the Kchehepalri Lake. The lake is present amidst dense forests and it is considered to be a holy place. It might also be worth checking the Rabdantsey Ruins.

Pelling
. Not to be confused with Pellinki, an island in Finland.
Pelling is a town in the district of West Sikkim, India. Pelling is nestled at an altitude of 2,150 m (7,200 feet). The town is located at a distance of 10 km from the district headquarters of Geyzing. A regular bus service connects the two towns. However with the influx of tourists, the region is undergoing a metamorphosis, with the roads being repaired and hotels being set up.
The Himalayas and the Kanchenjanga may be viewed at close quarters from Pelling. Pelling also forms the base from where trekkers and other peripatetic adventurers undertake the strenuous and arduous treks in West Sikkim. The land around Pelling is still a virgin territory and is bathed with alpine vegetation, with numerous waterfalls lining the hillside. In the months of winter, Pelling is sometimes covered with a blanket of snow.
Pelling is 115 km from the state capital Gangtok and about 135 km from Siliguri, the nearest railhead and airport. Regular jeeps connect Pelling to the towns of Jorethang, Kalimpong and Namchi. The nearest airport is Bagdogra airport.

The Singshore suspension bridge, the highest bridge in Sikkim and the second highest bridge in the Asian continent with over 100 meters in height is a little away from Pelling town . The total length span of the bridge is approximately 200 meters, an engineering accomplishment made possible by connecting two gorges in West of Sikkim.
The downward view from the bridge is overwhelming with the sight of beautiful waterfalls and breathtaking views of the green hillsides above are pleasing.

Pelling is a small town that is situated in the state of Sikkim in the West Sikkim region. The town is a laid back place and it attracts travelers from different parts of the country. Pelling is located near the foothills of Kanchenjunga and one can witness an outstanding view of the mountain from here. There are numerous scenic spots that one can visit in the area. The main attractions in the place are the monasteries that dot the countryside. Visiting these tranquil monasteries is a good way to spend time in the region. Some of the main places are Pemayansgtse Monastery and Sangachoeling Monastery. There are many sculptures and paintings that you can find in these places and they are not crowded. One can get a panoramic view from the Sangachoeling Monastery. If you are visiting during the month of January, you can see a dance called Cham in the Pemayansgtse Monastery.
The Sangay Waterfall is situated 10 kilometers from the town of Pelling and this is a good picnic spot. Another interesting place is the Kchehepalri Lake. The lake is present amidst dense forests and it is considered to be a holy place. It might also be worth checking the Rabdantsey Ruins.

Do check out the video in HD(720p). Recently had been to Sikkim and Darjeeling trip and I have captured few videos all over the trip.... The video is handheld throughout so there are some vibrations due to the bumpy roads... This was our route plan:- Pune - Delhi - Bagdogra - Silliguri - Gangtok - Lachung - Yumthang - Gangtok - Pelling - Darjeeling - Silliguri -Bagdogra - Delhi - Pune It was a lovely trip. It was founded in the seventeenth century by Lhatsun Chenpo and belongs to the Nyingmapa Order. A funeral in the Mangru Monastery: with music and prayers and the participation of the entire community. The few monks of the tiny monastery pray for the deceased and the villagers receive food and drink next to the spot where the body has been cremated. The route to Paro Dzong travels along a valley to Dungtse Lhakhang, a small temple that is shaped like a Tibetan chorten. The fortified Paro Monastery is one of the most beautiful buildings in Bhutan, a mighty fortress that once controlled the route by which the Tibetan armies repeatedly invaded. From curve to curve the Taktshang Monastery comes into view, secured within the steep rock of the world famous, Tiger's Nest. Flags flutter in the cool breeze and prayer wheels rotate at almost three thousand metres above sea level. We arrive at this holy place that is situated between Heaven and Earth and where Guru Rinpoche landed triumphantly on the back of a flying tigress. The kingdoms on the roof of the world continue to captivate and inspire along with their unique monasteries and rich monastic culture.
