The Day After Tomorrow

The Day After Tomorrow is a 2004 American climate science fiction disaster film co-written, directed, and produced by Roland Emmerich and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Dennis Quaid, Ian Holm, Emmy Rossum, and Sela Ward. The film depicts fictional catastrophic climatic effects, following the disruption of the North Atlantic ocean circulation, in a series of extreme weather events that usher in global cooling and leads to a new ice age. The film was made in Toronto and Montreal and is the highest-grossing Hollywood film to be made in Canada (if adjusted for inflation).

Originally planned for release in the summer of 2003, The Day After Tomorrow premiered in Mexico City on May 17, 2004 and was released worldwide from May 26 to May 28 except in South Korea and Japan, where it was released June 4–5, respectively.

Plot

On an expedition in Antarctica, paleoclimatologist Jack Hall and his colleagues Frank and Jason are drilling for ice-core samples on the Larsen Ice Shelf for the NOAA when the shelf breaks off.

The Day After Tomorrow (1994) is a thriller novel by Allan Folsom which appeared in the number 3 spot in its first week on the New York Times bestseller list for fiction. Despite this being the first novel by Folsom, the American publishing rights for it were sold for two million dollars.

Plot summary

Paul Osborn sees the man who has murdered his father years before while walking through Paris. When he sees the murderer again his memories take over. After a detective found out about Henri Kanarack, Osborn plans to kill him. McVey comes to Paris in order to meet some experts on the case of a couple decapitations, where the bodies and heads were found deep-frozen. A few days later Osborn tries to kill Kanarack, but when he's nearly dead a third person enters the scene. He shoots Kanarack and the last information Osborn could get from Kanarack was that he was murdering Osborn's father for hire of Erwin Scholl. Osborn tells McVey about Scholl. Out of McVey's researches arises that Osborn's father invented a scalpel that can be used at degrees of absolute zero and that in the same year he was killed a few other inventors were killed, whose inventions were all about surgery at extremely high or low temperatures and all vanished. Because of that McVey and his investigation team have a suspicion that Scholl and his people might belong to an organization that's working on surgery making it possible to combine deep-frozen body parts and to thaw it so the person is alive.

The Day After Tomorrow (also known as Into Infinity in the United Kingdom) is a 1975 British science-fiction television drama produced by Gerry Anderson between the first and second series of Space: 1999. Written by Johnny Byrne and directed by Charles Crichton, it stars Brian Blessed, Joanna Dunham and Nick Tate and is narrated by Ed Bishop. The Day After Tomorrow first aired in the United States, on NBC, as an episode of the children's science education TV series Special Treat in December 1975. In the UK, it was broadcast on BBC1 as a TV special in December 1976 and December 1977; 37 years later, in November 2014, a revised version was broadcast on BBC Four. The plot of The Day After Tomorrow concerns the interstellar mission of Altares, a science vessel of the future that can travel at the speed of light. From its initial destination of Alpha Centauri, the ship pushes deeper into space; there, her crew of three adults and two children encounter such phenomena as a meteor shower, a red giant and, finally, a black hole, which pulls the ship into another universe.

Plot

Peter Piper and his girlfriend Sidney Taylor have been engaged for a long time, but the economic situation of the Great Depression and the selfish demands of their respective mothers have delayed the marriage. They imagine their future together "after tomorrow" in the lyrics of their favorite song. Sidney's mother thinks only of her own needs, while clinging Mrs Piper can't bear the thought that her son will one day leave her, and does her best to break up Sidney and Peter's relationship.

Day After Tomorrow (also known as dat) was a 3-member Japanese pop band under the Avex label.

History

Due to their music being produced by former Every Little Thing member Mitsuru Igarashi, Day After Tomorrow's music took on a decidedly similar feel to that group's music, particularly the more synthpop-based music that Every Little Thing released in their earlier years. As of the release of their best albums in August 2005, Day After Tomorrow are on hiatus as a result of a scandal from the media. Kitano, one of the members of the band, is dating Sayaka, the daughter of pop star Seiko Matsuda. Media reports have also alleged that this was the main reason for it.

Since the band went on hiatus, Misono has started a solo career and Daisuke Suzuki has gone on to play keyboard for the band Girl Next Door.

Misono's older sister is Kumi Koda.

Day After Tomorrow performed the theme song of the Japanese release of the movie The Day After Tomorrow. The song was "More than a Million Miles".

Day After Tomorrow is an album from American singer and musician Joan Baez, released in 2008. The album features songs written by such composers as Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, T Bone Burnett, Patty Griffin, Thea Gilmore and Steve Earle. Steve Earle also produced the album. It was recorded in Nashville between December 2007 and March 2008.

The album is released by Proper records in Europe and Razor & Tie in North America. It debuted on the UK Albums Chart at number 100. In the US it became her first charting album in 29 years, reaching number 128 on the Billboard 200 in its opening week.
