Se durante l'inverno non vogliamo coltivare nulla nell'orto è comunque importante preparare il terreno alle coltivazioni che porre a dimora in primavera.
Prima di tutto asportiamo tutti gli eventuali residui delle piante coltivate in estate, e le erbacce; raccogliendo tutti gli scarti; a meno che non si sia coltivato delle piante appositamente per questo scopo, evitiamo di sotterrare i residui rimasti nell'orto, perchè possono essere diventati il luogo di svernamento di parassiti e malattie, oppure possono essere presenti sementi di piante infestanti: quindi asportiamo tutta la vegetazione e conferiamola in discarica.
Quindi procediamo cospargendo il terreno con dello stallatico ben maturo, che andrà ad arricchire il terreno di Sali minerali, ed anche a migliorarne l'impasto.
Se il nostro terreno è molto compatto e duro aggiungiamo allo stallatico poca sabbia o del terriccio universale.
Quindi con l'aiuto di un forcone rivoltiamo le zolle, in modo da incorporare lo stallatico al terreno.
Una volta ultimato il lavoro su tutto l'appezzamento con l'aiuto di un rastrello livelliamo il terreno, in modo da evitare il formarsi di buche entro cui andrebbe a ristagnare l'acqua.
Ora il terreno è pronto per le nostre coltivazioni.
Se vogliamo dividere il terreno in piccoli appezzamenti possiamo farlo prima di arricchirlo e lavorarlo, oppure anche dopo, scavando piccoli sentieri tra un appezzamento e l'altro.

Francesco Mangano, un ingegnoso artigiano di Taurianova(RC), riesce a far crescere pomodori e melanzane sui rami di un albero alto circa cinque metri. È una passione, questa, che dura da molti anni, con grande soddisfazione e con un abbondante raccolto di decine di chili di saporitissimi ortaggi. C'è sempre stato tanto scetticismo da parte di molte persone attorno alla specialissima "coltivazione" di ortaggi di Francesco Mangano. Questo video è, dunque, la prova della bontà della tecnica usata da anni da Francesco Mangano per ottenere un cospicuo raccolto di pomodori e melanzane. C'è da dire subito qualcosa su questo speciale albero. Si tratta di un "Solanum", famiglia delle "Solanaceae", alla quale appartengono anche i comunissimi ortaggi pomodori e melanzane. Proprio per questa ragione il Solanum sopporta benissimo l'innesto (e la crescita sui suoi rami) di tali ortaggi. Il Solanum è presente in molte parti del mondo, è suddiviso in circa 1.400 specie diverse, alcune delle quali crescono spontanee anche in Italia.
Questo film documenta la procedura di tutte le fasi della coltivazione: dalla preparazione dell'albero al raccolto finale degli ortaggi. Le riprese sono state eseguite nell'arco di tre mesi e mezzo, dal 12 maggio 2014 (data di innesto delle piantine) al 25 agosto 2014 (data della raccolta dei pomodori, che maturano molto dopo le melanzane).
12 maggio 2014 - Francesco Mangano comincia la potatura dei rami, sui quali innesterà le piantine; preparazione piantine per l'innesto; innesto piantine di melenzana e pomodoro.
3 giugno 2014 - Le piantine cominciano il loro ciclo di crescita.
16 giugno 2014 - Sui rami dell'albero vengono posizionate canne di bambù per sostenere il peso degli ortaggi in crescita.
6 luglio 2014 - La fioritura è già iniziata e cominciano a crescere i primi ortaggi.
22 luglio 2014 - Dopo due mesi e 10 giorni dall'innesto si raccolgono le prime melanzane.
25 agosto 2014 - Dopo 3 mesi e 13 giorni dall'innesto delle piantine si raccolgono i primi pomodori.
La raccolta degli ortaggi prosegue fino al mese di ottobre, poiché essi crescono e maturano in successione.
Né il Solanum né gli ortaggi sono stati sottoposti ad alcun trattamento (antiparassitario, anticrittogamico, eccetera). Gli ortaggi non hanno avuto nemmeno bisogno di irrigazione, poiché durante tutto il loro ciclo di vita si nutriscono attraverso la linfa dell'albero. Francesco Mangano, un ingegnoso artigiano di Taurianova(RC), riesce a far crescere pomodori e melanzane sui rami di un albero alto circa cinque metri. È una passione, questa, che dura da molti anni, con grande soddisfazione e con un abbondante raccolto di decine di chili di saporitissimi ortaggi. C'è sempre stato tanto scetticismo da parte di molte persone attorno alla specialissima "coltivazione" di ortaggi di Francesco Mangano. Questo video è, dunque, la prova della bontà della tecnica usata da anni da Francesco Mangano per ottenere un cospicuo raccolto di pomodori e melanzane. C'è da dire subito qualcosa su questo speciale albero. Si tratta di un "Solanum", famiglia delle "Solanaceae", alla quale appartengono anche i comunissimi ortaggi pomodori e melanzane. Proprio per questa ragione il Solanum sopporta benissimo l'innesto (e la crescita sui suoi rami) di tali ortaggi. Il Solanum è presente in molte parti del mondo, è suddiviso in circa 1.400 specie diverse, alcune delle quali crescono spontanee anche in Italia. Questo film documenta la procedura di tutte le fasi della coltivazione: dalla preparazione dell'albero al raccolto finale degli ortaggi. Le riprese sono state eseguite nell'arco di tre mesi e mezzo, dal 12 maggio 2014 (data di innesto delle piantine) al 25 agosto 2014 (data della raccolta dei pomodori, che maturano molto dopo le melanzane). 12 maggio 2014 - Francesco Mangano comincia la potatura dei rami, sui quali innesterà le piantine; preparazione piantine per l'innesto; innesto piantine di melenzana e pomodoro. 3 giugno 2014 - Le piantine cominciano il loro ciclo di crescita. 16 giugno 2014 - Sui rami dell'albero vengono posizionate canne di bambù per sostenere il peso degli ortaggi in crescita. 6 luglio 2014 - La fioritura è già iniziata e cominciano a crescere i primi ortaggi. 22 luglio 2014 - Dopo due mesi e 10 giorni dall'innesto si raccolgono le prime melanzane. 25 agosto 2014 - Dopo 3 mesi e 13 giorni dall'innesto delle piantine si raccolgono i primi pomodori. La raccolta degli ortaggi prosegue fino al mese di ottobre, poiché essi crescono e maturano in successione. Né il Solanum né gli ortaggi sono stati sottoposti ad alcun trattamento (antiparassitario, anticrittogamico, eccetera). Gli ortaggi non hanno avuto nemmeno bisogno di irrigazione, poiché durante tutto il loro ciclo di vita si nutriscono attraverso la linfa dell'albero. Se durante l'inverno non vogliamo coltivare nulla nell'orto è comunque importante preparare il terreno alle coltivazioni che porre a dimora in primavera.
Prima di tutto asportiamo tutti gli eventuali residui delle piante coltivate in estate, e le erbacce; raccogliendo tutti gli scarti; a meno che non si sia coltivato delle piante appositamente per questo scopo, evitiamo di sotterrare i residui rimasti nell'orto, perchè possono essere diventati il luogo di svernamento di parassiti e malattie, oppure possono essere presenti sementi di piante infestanti: quindi asportiamo tutta la vegetazione e conferiamola in discarica.
Quindi procediamo cospargendo il terreno con dello stallatico ben maturo, che andrà ad arricchire il terreno di Sali minerali, ed anche a migliorarne l'impasto.
Se il nostro terreno è molto compatto e duro aggiungiamo allo stallatico poca sabbia o del terriccio universale.
Quindi con l'aiuto di un forcone rivoltiamo le zolle, in modo da incorporare lo stallatico al terreno.
Una volta ultimato il lavoro su tutto l'appezzamento con l'aiuto di un rastrello livelliamo il terreno, in modo da evitare il formarsi di buche entro cui andrebbe a ristagnare l'acqua.
Ora il terreno è pronto per le nostre coltivazioni.
Se vogliamo dividere il terreno in piccoli appezzamenti possiamo farlo prima di arricchirlo e lavorarlo, oppure anche dopo, scavando piccoli sentieri tra un appezzamento e l'altro.

Francesco Mangano, un ingegnoso artigiano di Taurianova(RC), riesce a far crescere pomodori e melanzane sui rami di un albero alto circa cinque metri. È una passione, questa, che dura da molti anni, con grande soddisfazione e con un abbondante raccolto di decine di chili di saporitissimi ortaggi. C'è sempre stato tanto scetticismo da parte di molte persone attorno alla specialissima "coltivazione" di ortaggi di Francesco Mangano. Questo video è, dunque, la prova della bontà della tecnica usata da anni da Francesco Mangano per ottenere un cospicuo raccolto di pomodori e melanzane. C'è da dire subito qualcosa su questo speciale albero. Si tratta di un "Solanum", famiglia delle "Solanaceae", alla quale appartengono anche i comunissimi ortaggi pomodori e melanzane. Proprio per questa ragione il Solanum sopporta benissimo l'innesto (e la crescita sui suoi rami) di tali ortaggi. Il Solanum è presente in molte parti del mondo, è suddiviso in circa 1.400 specie diverse, alcune delle quali crescono spontanee anche in Italia.
Questo film documenta la procedura di tutte le fasi della coltivazione: dalla preparazione dell'albero al raccolto finale degli ortaggi. Le riprese sono state eseguite nell'arco di tre mesi e mezzo, dal 12 maggio 2014 (data di innesto delle piantine) al 25 agosto 2014 (data della raccolta dei pomodori, che maturano molto dopo le melanzane).
12 maggio 2014 - Francesco Mangano comincia la potatura dei rami, sui quali innesterà le piantine; preparazione piantine per l'innesto; innesto piantine di melenzana e pomodoro.
3 giugno 2014 - Le piantine cominciano il loro ciclo di crescita.
16 giugno 2014 - Sui rami dell'albero vengono posizionate canne di bambù per sostenere il peso degli ortaggi in crescita.
6 luglio 2014 - La fioritura è già iniziata e cominciano a crescere i primi ortaggi.
22 luglio 2014 - Dopo due mesi e 10 giorni dall'innesto si raccolgono le prime melanzane.
25 agosto 2014 - Dopo 3 mesi e 13 giorni dall'innesto delle piantine si raccolgono i primi pomodori.
La raccolta degli ortaggi prosegue fino al mese di ottobre, poiché essi crescono e maturano in successione.
Né il Solanum né gli ortaggi sono stati sottoposti ad alcun trattamento (antiparassitario, anticrittogamico, eccetera). Gli ortaggi non hanno avuto nemmeno bisogno di irrigazione, poiché durante tutto il loro ciclo di vita si nutriscono attraverso la linfa dell'albero. On the way, many bizarre shaped sea caves can be seen. 80km from the capital from among romantic cliffs, the view of Porto Bay opens up. It's worthy of being called the most beautiful part of the island. The blue of the sea if framed by pink granite rocks. Porto itself is only a little village however, it's not the village but the bay that we have in mind when talking about Porto. We can look down from this hillside covered with chestnut and olive woods to the little fishing village and the glittering beaches. The watchtower of the village built on red rocks watches today only the swimmers at most. In Porto, we can find a dozen hotels and two campsites. The place is extraordinarily popular in spite of its being at least a 2 and a half hour drive away from the closest airport or ferry. Unwinding serpentines dotted with hairpin curves. The calmness, the tranquility, the sight of the magnificent nature is compensation for everything.
The aquarium of Port is a collection of the fish of the Mediterranean Sea. Here, we can see all of them together even those that we weren't able to encounter when diving or fishing or even on the tables of fish restaurants. There are many places for excursions in this area. It's worth visiting the rocky beach of Ficagiola. Among the red perforate stones of Kalange, crashing rivers and rocky valleys alternate with green slopes. We can go on a several hour mountain hike from Piana to the Capo d'Orto where we can have a magnificent view of the Porto Bay. Flocks of sheep and mountain goats often cause drivers to stop. A little patience and the shepherd arrives by car with his customary companion, his sheep dog to get the traffic barrier out of the way. At a place between Porto and -- the brave pilots were commemorated who first flew from Marseilles to Corsica in a hot air balloon.

The Hotel Orto de'Medici in the city of Florence
Orto de'Medici was named for the Medici family's extensive gardens and orchards that once existed on the site of this hotel.
Capable father-and-son team Emilio and Giacomo Bufalini recently took over the reins and took on the challenge of completely refurbishing the family's prim, centuries-old palazzo.
Public areas maintain the ambiance of an elegant private home—the frescoed foyer and sitting rooms are graced with portraits, chandeliers, overstuffed armchairs, and Oriental carpets—while services and facilities in bedrooms conform to European Community standards.
The spacious upper-floor guestrooms are reached by an elevator and are decorated with classic style.
They have matching armoires and beds and all but ten have smart new gray-and-white-marble bathrooms.
Several rooms on the top floor have a terrace or balcony with dreamy views over red Florentine rooftops.
Perhaps the architectural highlight is the gracious breakfast room (breakfast is a buffet), with high ceilings, original parquet floors, and frescoed panels depicting garden scenes all around.
French doors lead from this area to an outdoor terraced flower garden with wrought iron chairs and tables and a lovely view of San Marco church. Wine and cheese tastings are held here in the late afternoon.
Dynamic young host Giacomo and his efficient and friendly staff ensure a perfect city sojourn.
