The Vishnu Sahasranam is found in the Mahabharatha. Literally translated this means thousand names of Vishnu. This is found in the Anushasanika Parvam (chapter relating to orders or rules to the kings) of Mahabharatha.
Bheeshma Pitamaha was defeated and grievously wounded by Arjuna. But since he could choose the time of his death as per the boons received by him, he chose to die in Uttarayana and was waiting for the auspicious time. Meanwhile the war was over leading to death of all those male members in his family except the Pancha Pandavas and the unborn child of Abhimanyu. Yudishtra the eldest of the Pandavas became the King of Hasthinapura and whom else would he go for advise other than Bheeshma the great. Anushasanika Parva is in the form of questions and answers between Yudishtra and Bheeshma Pitamaha.To a question as to what is the best possible stotra, Bheeshma answers that it is the Vishnu Sahasra Nama and teaches it to Yudishtra.
Though it describes one thousand aspects and praises of the lord, it is not simple and easy to understand. Many great Acharyas lead by Sankara Bhagavat Pada, felt a need to give its meaning in crystal clear terms so that the devotee can not only sing but meditate on the aspect of the God he is praising. But this again was done in Sanskrit. With the modern civilization several translations of this stotra is available in English and in almost all major languages of India.
Though it is called Sahasra Nama in fact it contains only 901 distinct sounding names. Eight hundred and fifteen names are repeated once, Seventy-five of these names are repeated twice, nine of these names thrice and two of these names four times. The acharyas have attempted to give different meanings to the same word in different places successfully.
In the afterward to the stotra Goddess Parvathi asks Siva the cosmic god for an easy way to sing this stotra for the learned. He replies that it is sufficient that the learned one repeats the name of Rama and this is equivalent to his singing of sahasranama. It is important to note that this is easy method is prescribed to the very learned who do not have time to recite it daily and not for everybody,

n the village of Rameshpur the Thakur and Kalia Singh were all powerful with their vicious unjust rule. The whole village used to dance according to their tune. But in that same village an honest and respectable teacher on his own singular strength was trying to educate the entire village and improve their living. Thakur could not bear this. So, he made Kalia instrumental and managed to finish the teacher—he was murdered. The teacher's younger brother Arjun could not bear this grief of his brother's death. He aimed an axe at Kalia and wanted to kill him. However. Kalia escaped and managed to catch Arjun. He was taking Arjun away with him but somehow Arjun luckily escapes from his hands. The teacher's wife Durga vows in front of the Sttatue of Mother Durga at her temple that she may make her children brave as lions so that one day she may come back to the village and take revenge against Thakur and Kalia. Time passed by. Arjun aIway was in great grief owing to his separation from his sister-in-law who was just like his mother and her children. After a long time Durga came back to the village with his grown-up children. Munimji's daughter Radha falls in love with Vijay, Durga's son.
The unjust ways of Thakur went on increasing day by day. Thakur tried to molest the Pujari's daughter but Arjun foils his bid and he kills him. To take the revenge against the death of Thakur, Kalia comes to the village. Arjun and the entire village face Kalia, but Kalia successed in imprisoning Durga, Vicky, Vijay and Vishal make a deadly effort to release their mother, Durga. But against such great odds of the dacoits they became helpless and the dacoits caught them and tied them up along with their mother. Dacoit Kalia does not want to kill them by shoting at them. Instead he plans to give them all a very painful and agonising death.

Vishnu is a Hindu god, the Supreme God of Vaishnavism (one of the three principal denominations of Hinduism) and one of the three supreme deities (Trimurti) of Hinduism. He is also known as Narayana and Hari. As one of the five primary forms of God in the Smarta tradition, he is conceived as "the Preserver or the Protector" within the Trimurti, the Hindu Trinity of the divinity.
In Hindu sacred texts, Vishnu is usually described as having dark complexion of water-filled clouds and as having four arms, so he is very important. He is depicted as a blue being, holding a padma (lotus flower) in the lower left hand, the Kaumodaki gada (mace) in the lower right hand, the Panchajanya shankha (conch) in the upper left hand and the discus weapon Sudarshana Chakra in the upper right hand.

Vishnu (Sanskrit विष्णु Viṣṇu) is the supreme God in Hyderabad area Vaishnavite of Hinduism. Smarta followers of Adi Shankara, among others, venerate Vishnu as one of the five primary forms of God.
The Vishnu Sahasranama declares Vishnu as Paramatman (supreme soul) and Parameshwara (supreme God). It describes Vishnu as the All-Pervading essence of all beings, the master of—and beyond—the past, present and future, one who supports, sustains and governs the Universe and originates and develops all elements within. Vishnu governs the aspect of preservation and sustenance of the universe, so he is called "Preserver of the universe".
In the Puranas, Vishnu is described as having the divine colour of water filled clouds, four-armed, holding a lotus, mace, shankha (conch) and chakra (wheel). Vishnu is also described in the Bhagavad Gita as having a 'Universal Form' (Vishvarupa) which is beyond the ordinary limits of human perception or imagination.
In almost all Hindu denominations, Vishnu is either worshipped directly or in the form of his ten avatara, most famous of whom are Rama and Krishna. The Puranabharti describes each of these Dasavatara of Vishnu. Among the ten principal Avatara described, nine have occurred in the past and one will take place in the future, at the end of Kali Yuga. These incarnations take place in all Yugas in cosmic scales, the avatars and their stories show that god is indeed unimaginable, unthinkable and unbelievable. The Bhagavad Gita mentions their purpose as being to rejuvenate Dharma and vanquish negative forces, the forces of evil that threaten Dharma, as also to display His divine nature in front of the conditioned/fallen souls.

Aditya Pancholi (born 12 September 1965) is an Indian film actor working in Hindi Cinema. Aditya has also proved his worth in many villainous roles as well, the recent being Dum Maro Dum. His performance in Yes Boss and the double role in Jung was very well received.
He's the son of the filmmaker Rajan Pancholi and Aruna. He has one sister and two brothers. He was born as Nirmal Pancholi in Mumbai, India. When Pancholi dated actress Pooja Bedi, he was accused of statutory rape of her minor domestic help (15 at the time).
He has appeared in over sixty-five films and also appeared in several television productions. Pancholi is perhaps best known for the films Saathi (also known as The Companion) (1991), Aatish: Feel the Fire (1994), Yes Boss (1997) and Musafir (2004).
His best work till date is in the movie Saathi, directed by Mahesh Bhatt. His recent villain role was in film "BodyGuard".

Vishnu is a Hindu god, the Supreme God of Vaishnavism (one of the three principal denominations of Hinduism) and one of the three supreme deities (Trimurti) of Hinduism. He is also known as Narayana and Hari. As one of the five primary forms of God in the Smarta tradition, he is conceived as "the Preserver or the Protector" within the Trimurti, the Hindu Trinity of the divinity. In Hindu sacred texts, Vishnu is usually described as having dark complexion of water-filled clouds and as having four arms, so he is very important. The Vishnu Sahasranam is found in the Mahabharatha. Literally translated this means thousand names of Vishnu. This is found in the Anushasanika Parvam (chapter relating to orders or rules to the kings) of Mahabharatha. Bheeshma Pitamaha was defeated and grievously wounded by Arjuna. He replies that it is sufficient that the learned one repeats the name of Rama and this is equivalent to his singing of sahasranama. n the village of Rameshpur the Thakur and Kalia Singh were all powerful with their vicious unjust rule. The whole village used to dance according to their tune. But in that same village an honest and respectable teacher on his own singular strength was trying to educate the entire village and improve their living. Thakur could not bear this. So, he made Kalia instrumental and managed to finish the teacher—he was murdered. The teacher's younger brother Arjun could not bear this grief of his brother's death. He aimed an axe at Kalia and wanted to kill him. However. Kalia escaped and managed to catch Arjun. He was taking Arjun away with him but somehow Arjun luckily escapes from his hands. The teacher's wife Durga vows in front of the Sttatue of Mother Durga at her temple that she may make her children brave as lions so that one day she may come back to the village and take revenge against Thakur and Kalia. Time passed by. Arjun aIway was in great grief owing to his separation from his sister-in-law who was just like his mother and her children. After a long time Durga came back to the village with his grown-up children. Munimji's daughter Radha falls in love with Vijay, Durga's son.
The unjust ways of Thakur went on increasing day by day. Thakur tried to molest the Pujari's daughter but Arjun foils his bid and he kills him. To take the revenge against the death of Thakur, Kalia comes to the village. Arjun and the entire village face Kalia, but Kalia successed in imprisoning Durga, Vicky, Vijay and Vishal make a deadly effort to release their mother, Durga. But against such great odds of the dacoits they became helpless and the dacoits caught them and tied them up along with their mother. Dacoit Kalia does not want to kill them by shoting at them. Instead he plans to give them all a very painful and agonising death.

The Vishnu Sahasranamam is found in the Mahabharatha. Literally translated this means thousand names of Vishnu. This is found in the Anushasanika Parvam (chapter relating to orders or rules to the kings) of Mahabharatha. Bheeshma Pitamaha was defeated and grievously wounded by Arjuna. But since he could choose the time of his death as per the boons received by him, he chose to die in Uttarayana and was waiting for the auspicious time. Meanwhile the war was over leading to death of all those male members in his family except the Pancha Pandavas and the unborn child of Abhimanyu. Yudishtra the eldest of the Pandavas became the King of Hasthinapura and went to Bheeshma the great for the advice
In Bhishma's expert judgment, chanting Vasudeva's name with devotion and sincerity will ensure relief from sorrows and bondage. This in a nutshell is the phala sruti or the benefit of chanting Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam.
