Plot: When Grandduke Charles, the prince-regent of Carpathia, a fictitious Balkan country which could start a European war by switching alliances, visits London for the coronation of the new British King in 1911, and spends his one evening off at the Coconut Girl Club, the reputed stickler for protocol is so charmed by a clumsy American understudy that he orders his British attaché to invite her to the embassy for a private supper. Being overlooked and understanding German, she learns of the repressive attitude of the regent and the plans of his reformist, pro-German minor son, King Nicholas, to take over power by surprise, but doesn't dodge and tries to reconcile father and son. The queen-dowager decides to make her lady-in-waiting for the coronation day, so she stays in the picture to everyone else's surprise.

Charles, the Prince Regent: [of the theatre] So many doors. Like an audience with the Japanese emperor!
Elsie Marina: Better luck next time, only not with me, of course.
The Foreign Office: Do you mean to say, Northbrook, that you know nothing about Carpathia whatever?::Northbrook: Don't even know where the beastly place is for a start.::The Foreign Office: How long have you been in the foreign office?::Northbrook: Fifteen years, sir, but I'm in the Far Eastern Department.::The Foreign Office: Now that's no excuse. What would you think if I knew nothing of Siam?::Northbrook: Don't think I'd mind much.::The Foreign Office: That sort of remark will get you nowhere, Northbrook.::Northbrook: Not even out of this job?::The Foreign Office: Certainly not! Your predecessor has had a riding accident and you are now in his saddle.
Elsie Marina: [about dress] Say, is it all right over the you-know-what?::Fanny: Wonderful over the you-know-what.::Fanny: [Northbrook comes out from behind screen] What do you think?::Northbrook: Very nice.::Fanny: Is that all you can say?::Northbrook: Very nice indeed.
Elsie Marina: [having learned the details of the Regent's "party"] You know, there's a word for what you are and it's not Deputy Head of the Far Eastern Department.
Northbrook: Aren't you confusing this embassy with a private room at Romano's?::Elsie Marina: Why not? Except up there it's a longer run from the sofa to the door.
The Queen Dowager: Sweetly pretty. She should use more mascara. When one is young, one should use a lot of mascara. When one is older, one should use much more.
Northbrook: I'm sure, sir, her sense of comme il faut will -::Charles, the Prince Regent: She has as much sense of comme il faut as a rhinocerous.::Northbrook: [beat] Do I gather, sir, that the evening was not an entirely happy one?::Charles, the Prince Regent: Northbrook, this British understatement of yours I begin to find irritating.
Elsie Marina: Yes, I speak German. I was born in Milwaukee.
Elsie Marina: Oh, don't give me that. I'm an American citizen, no one can do anything to me. Besides, who cares about your old Balkan revolutions, anyway? You have them all the time.

Canton Jones, Uncle Reece and Willie Moore Jr., Stellar Awards (Full Performance)
LAS VEGAS, NV (March 31,
2015) - Dubbed the greatest night in
Gospel music, the 30th
Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards at the
Orleans Arena in
Las Vegas turned "
Sin City" into "
Salvation City." Celebrating 30 years, the
Stellar Awards was co-hosted with comedic flair by
David Mann ("
Mann & Wife),
Tamela Mann ("
Sparkle") and
Ricky Smiley ("
Dish Nation") during the 2-hour taped telecast premiering
Easter Sunday, April 5 at 6 p.m. ET/5 p.m. CT on
TV One with encores aired at 8 p.m. ET and 10 p.m. ET.
The Stellar Awards recognizes the year's best performances in the genre, honors Gospel music icons and acknowledges the accomplishments
of individuals instrumental in advocating for the industry.
The big surprise of the evening came at the top of the show, when opening act
Michelle Williams was joined by former bandmates
Beyonce and
Kelly Rowland in a show-stopping reunion that brought the audience to its feet singing her song, "
Say Yes," a winner for "
Best Music Video of the Year."
Ten-time nominee
Erica Campbell took top honors, winning six awards including
Artist of the Year, The
Albertina Walker Female Vocalist of the Year,
Contemporary CD of the Year and
Urban/Inspirational
Single or
Performance of the Year. She acknowledged her sister, the other half of award-winning duo
Mary Mary in her heartfelt remarks.
"
Thank you Tina for saying that you needed a break," said
Erica. "...Cause I wouldn't have done it ("
Help") if you didn't say that."
Ricky Dillard and New G followed
Campbell with three wins, and
Deitrick Haddon tied with
The Walls Group for two trophies apiece. On stage after winning the
Male Vocalist of the Year award, Haddon expressed gratitude for being recognized following a difficult time in his life.
"A couple of years ago I messed up so bad I thought I could never inspire anyone again," he shared. "I was ready to quit and God spoke to me - He said, if you humble yourself
I'll lift you up to places you're never seen. This award is for people who think it's over for them."
Haddon later brought the house down with a star-studded rendition of "My City" collaborating with
Dorinda Clark-Cole, Clareta Haddon,
Kierra Sheard,
J. Moss, 21:03 and Shelby Five.
One of the hosts of this years show, Tamela Mann, won the award for
Special Event CD of the year for "
Best Days Deluxe Edition".
The New Artist of the Year award was presented to
Tasha Page-Lockhart, marking her first Stellar Awards appearance, performing "
Great Is
Your Love" and "
Faith Come Alive," with fellow first-timers The Walls Group.
Other masterful performances included
Smokie Norful,
Jonathan McReynolds, Erica Campbell and
Pastor Beverly Crawford who all delivered passionate hand-clapping and foot-stomping presentations to the delight of the filled-to-capacity crowd. The Stellar Awards signature is its powerful collaborations, and this year was no exception with
Rance Allen Group,
Lisa Knowles &
The Brown Singers, as well as
Uncle Reece,
Willie Moore, Jr. and
Canton Jones teaming up to deliver amazing musical numbers.
Bishop Paul Morton received the Allstate
James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award for his accomplishments and was honored in song by
Kurt Carr & the Kurt Carr
Singers with Zarcadi &
Crystal singing a medley of "
I'm Still Standing". Al "
The Bishop" Hobbs, received the
Chevrolet Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones Legend Award for his career accomplishments in the radio industry.
Yolanda Adams and
Israel Houghton performed "How
Awesome Is
Our God" celebrating the life of
Andrae Crouch which set the tone for one of the most moving speeches of the night from his twin sister,
Sandra Crouch. Speaking from the heart on behalf of her legendary sibling, Crouch was honored posthumously with the
Thomas A. Dorsey Most Notable Achievement Award for his lifelong contributions to
Gospel that have influenced artists from every genre and around the globe.
"When the storms come and when there are no trophies, no
Grammys and there's no light shining," she proclaimed, "
...you still say to God be the glory."
This year, award show founder and

Gospel/
R&B; singer and producer
Canton Jones grew up in a musical family in
Deerfield Beach, a coastal town in southeast
Florida. As early as the age of five,
Jones joined a singing quartet his father formed, and by age 16 he was making beats for himself and for other local singers. After high school, Jones moved his home base to
Atlanta, where he attended
Morehouse College. It was there that the singer joined the school's popular glee club, which afforded him a chance to tour extensively and sing for
Oprah Winfrey,
Stevie Wonder,
Bobby Jones, and
Ray Charles, among others
. In the meantime, Jones also began attending
Pastor Creflo Dollar's
World Changers Church, where he began singing in the choir. During a solo performance in one of the megachurch's services, Jones caught the attention of the congregation's youth pastor, who asked him to help in the youth department. He did, and not long
after, he signed an independent record deal with
Arrow Records, a church-based label spearheaded by the pastor's wife, Taffi
Dollar. His first album,
20 Years 3 Months & 12
Days, came out in
2003, and one year later he completed The
Password. His breakthrough came in the summer of
2005 with the release of
Love Jones, which made its debut on
Billboard's
Top Gospel Albums chart at number 11. Jones offered an even more popular follow-up,
Kingdom Business, in 2008; the disc shot all the way to the number three slot of the same chart.
