Basement is a 2010 British horror film, starring Danny Dyer and written by Ewen Glass about six friends who are lured into a basement for a sinister experiment.
After returning from an anti-war demonstration, Gary (Danny Dyer), Sarah (Kierston Wareing), Saffron (Lois Winstone), Pru (Emily Beecham) and Derek (Jimi Mistry) stop in the country. Derek and Saffron discover a metal hatch in the middle of the forest and they decide to explore inside. Gary, Pru and Sarah search for their missing friends and find follow into the hitch and find themselves locked in when it closes behind them.
Basement is the first feature film from Paperknife Productions; a company based at Pinewood studios. Terry Stone's Gateway Films is also involved in Basement's production. The film premiered at the Mayfair Hotel on August 17, 2010 in London and was then released straight to DVD and Blu-ray on August 23, 2010.
Critical reception for The Basement has been negative, with BeyondHollywood.com writing that the film could have been "enjoyable trash, though sadly its mind numbing, soul destroying lack of energy or originality drags it back down into the mire." HorrorNews.net called the film "poorly written", saying that "in general it was just not a very good movie". The Sun reported that the movie was so ill received at its premiere that "People were even walking out moments after the film started as it was so bad."Dread Central also reviewed the film, saying it was "an entertainment black hole. There isn’t a single line, performance, camera movement, idea, scene, shot or piece of editing that warrants any kind of praise or attention."

Plot: "Xtacy" is a suspense-thriller inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's classic novella, The Tell-Tale Heart. The film examines a year in the life of Alex Winthrop, a New York artist turned serial killer. Alex finds that by killing beautiful young women he is able to create beautiful masterpieces. He discovers that not only is he able to capture his victim's souls on canvas, but his art moves to a new and exciting place. He begins to taste success at his finger tips. After a while, his victims take over his mind and start driving him mad. He is haunted by them and hears them everywhere. He is unable to find a moment of peace. Alex realizes that the only way to quiet these voices and bring some tranquility to his existence is to keep on killing. It is Alex's addiction to kill which destroys his mind and which ultimately leads to his demise.
