We stopped this guy during one of our winter "raids" against driving on the sidewalks in Moscow. He told us he was cool and wouldn't bite us, though he kept threatening us every once in a while. There was that stubborn blonde girl too, who wouldn't back up and clear the way for the psycho guy, thus enraging him even more. Eventually we dealt with both of them (and more.)

We put the bearded dragons venom to the test, with Nick receiving a painful bite! After new research suggests that bearded dragons are actually venomous we decided to put it to the test. Now just because the venom may not effect humans in any way, it doesn't mean they aren't venomous, it just may mean its only effective on the small animals they feed on.

While on her bachelorette party getaway, Casey, the bride to be, gets a seemingly harmless bite from an unknown insect. After returning home with cold feet, Casey tries to call off her wedding but before she's able to, she starts exhibiting insect like traits. What is it?
The hobo spider is a type of funnel web spider oftentimes mistaken for a brown recluse due to their similarities in appearance. They're very aggressive, willing to charge at you fearlessly despite its biggest adversaries. Their fangs are capable of piercing your skin and deliver a toxin that causes necrotic lesions on your skin.
Where is it located?
The hobo spider is native to Europe, although it can also be found in the northwestern region of the United States ever since it was introduced in the early 1900s. Like the black widow and wolf spider, they dwell in dark spaces of homes and offices and thrive in humid conditions and less-frequented areas of households where they've been known to cause heavy infestations. Hobo spider identification is difficult because they're oftentimes mistaken for a brown recluse.
How will it kill you?
A bite from a hobo spider first appears similarly to that of a mosquito bite. But after 24 hours it begins to blister and break open, leaving an oozing ulceration. This can take a few months to heal. If left untreated, the toxin works its way into your system causing headaches, nausea & vomiting, and flu-like symptoms. It can then lead to skin necrosis, bone marrow failure, and eventual death.
How to survive:
About 50% of hobo spider bites are dry, meaning no venom is injected with the bite. But venomous bites not treated early enough may require skin graft and even amputation. If you've been bit and you suspect the toxin has been injected into your system, head to a hospital or your nearest poison control center immediately in order to seek treatment by being administered the proper antivenom for your bite.

A bite is a wound received from the mouth (and in particular, the teeth) of an animal, including humans. Animals may bite in self-defense, in an attempt to predate food, as well as part of normal interactions. Other bite attacks may be apparently unprovoked. Self inflicted bites occur in some genetic illnesses such as Lesch-Nyhan syndrome. Biting is an act that occurs when an animal uses its teeth to pierce another object, including food, flesh and inanimate matter. A person bitten by an animal potentially carrying parvovirus or rabies virus should consult a medical doctor immediately. A bite victim may also incur serious bacterial infections of the bone called osteomyelitis which can become life threatening if untreated, whether or not the animal has parvovirus or rabies virus.
Bites are usually classified by the type of creature causing the wound. Many different creatures are known to bite humans.
Injuries from human bites present a particular risk to other humans, with a major risk of sepsis from infection by human oral ecology and the possibility of transmission of blood-borne diseases including, syphilis and hepatitis.

The hobo spider is a type of funnel web spider oftentimes mistaken for a brown recluse due to their similarities in appearance. They're very aggressive, willing to charge at you fearlessly despite its biggest adversaries. Their fangs are capable of piercing your skin and deliver a toxin that causes necrotic lesions on your skin. Where is it located? The hobo spider is native to Europe, although it can also be found in the northwestern region of the United States ever since it was introduced in the early 1900s. Like the black widow and wolf spider, they dwell in dark spaces of homes and offices and thrive in humid conditions and less-frequented areas of households where they've been known to cause heavy infestations. Hobo spider identification is difficult because they're oftentimes mistaken for a brown recluse. How will it kill you? A bite from a hobo spider first appears similarly to that of a mosquito bite. But after 24 hours it begins to blister and break open, leaving an oozing ulceration. This can take a few months to heal. If left untreated, the toxin works its way into your system causing headaches, nausea & vomiting, and flu-like symptoms. It can then lead to skin necrosis, bone marrow failure, and eventual death. How to survive: About 50% of hobo spider bites are dry, meaning no venom is injected with the bite. But venomous bites not treated early enough may require skin graft and even amputation. If you've been bit and you suspect the toxin has been injected into your system, head to a hospital or your nearest poison control center immediately in order to seek treatment by being administered the proper antivenom for your bite. Snake bite causes girl’s leg to rot away with severe necrosis
An unidentified 13-year-old Venezuelan girl is battling for her life after her leg turned black from severe necrosis after she was bitten by a snake. Apparently when the girl was first bitten, she also suffered a broken elbow. The bite cut one of the arteries in her leg and the excess bleeding led to ‘compartment syndrome’. A condition when pressure inside a compartment such as the leg causes a decrease in blood supply to the affected muscles. She was treated using local remedies which probably only included antibiotics. She mostly likely wasn’t treated for the snake venom, which can cause nerve paralysis and blood clots. She was finally taken to Caracas for treatment a month later, but by that time her leg had already turned black from severe necrosis. The necrosis is now spreading ... -

What is it?
The hobo spider is a type of funnel web spider oftentimes mistaken for a brown recluse due to their similarities in appearance. They're very aggressive, willing to charge at you fearlessly despite its biggest adversaries. Their fangs are capable of piercing your skin and deliver a toxin that causes necrotic lesions on your skin.
Where is it located?
The hobo spider is native to Europe, although it can also be found in the northwestern region of the United States ever since it was introduced in the early 1900s. Like the black widow and wolf spider, they dwell in dark spaces of homes and offices and thrive in humid conditions and less-frequented areas of households where they've been known to cause heavy infestations. Hobo spider identification is difficult because they're oftentimes mistaken for a brown recluse.
How will it kill you?
A bite from a hobo spider first appears similarly to that of a mosquito bite. But after 24 hours it begins to blister and break open, leaving an oozing ulceration. This can take a few months to heal. If left untreated, the toxin works its way into your system causing headaches, nausea & vomiting, and flu-like symptoms. It can then lead to skin necrosis, bone marrow failure, and eventual death.
How to survive:
About 50% of hobo spider bites are dry, meaning no venom is injected with the bite. But venomous bites not treated early enough may require skin graft and even amputation. If you've been bit and you suspect the toxin has been injected into your system, head to a hospital or your nearest poison control center immediately in order to seek treatment by being administered the proper antivenom for your bite.

AN AMATEUR scientist can shockingly take back-to-back bites from the world’s deadliest snakes on purpose and claims to be making himself immune from their venom. Divorced Tim Friede, 37, has self-inflicted more than 160 bites in 16 years of research and is hoping his experiments will help to develop a human vaccine for snake bites.To prove his self-immunisation theory works, Tim from Wisconsin, USA, recently took back-to-back bites from two of the world’s deadliest snakes – a taipan and a black mamba whose bite can kill in minutes. Unsurprisingly, his obsession with saving the tens of thousands of lives lost every year to snakebites has nearly killed him on a number of occasions and also cost him his marriage. His wife Beth Friede, 35, divorced him in October after 20 years together when she finally had enough of Tim’s snake obsession. Despite the controversial nature of his experiments Tim does have some backing from the scientific community. Dr Brian Hanley, a PhD Microbiologist from the University of California, says a test suggests Tim now has twice the number of antibodies and hopes his company Butterfly Sciences will help him develop his vaccine and find investors to get it into the field.

An unidentified 13-year-old Venezuelan girl is battling for her life after her leg turned black from severe necrosis after she was bitten by a snake.
Apparently when the girl was first bitten, she also suffered a broken elbow. The bite cut one of the arteries in her leg and the excess bleeding led to ‘compartment syndrome’. A condition when pressure inside a compartment such as the leg causes a decrease in blood supply to the affected muscles.
She was treated using local remedies which probably only included antibiotics. She mostly likely wasn’t treated for the snake venom, which can cause nerve paralysis and blood clots.
She was finally taken to Caracas for treatment a month later, but by that time her leg had already turned black from severe necrosis. The necrosis is now spreading up her leg. The rest of her body also showed signs of muscle atrophy from the venom.
The necrosis then led to a condition called rhabdomyolysis, where muscle tissue starts to die throughout the body. Rhabdomyolysis can lead to kidney failure and death if untreated.
Doctors have said the leg will need to be amputated, but that the girl may still die from the poison.

Yes, this is absolutely a crazy thing to do and we can’t stress enough that this should NOT be attempted by anyone, EVER. Being bitten by a turtle of this size, or any turtle for that matter, is extremely dangerous.
The only reason Coyote decided to go through with this challenge was due to popular demand and to hopefully reach a wider audience therefore promoting a greater awareness and understanding of this incredible species in hopes that more people will join the conservation effort. To Coyote, taking one chomp is totally worth it if it helps save more turtles.
