Prevention is key so a proper pregnancy diet is 1 that is high in vitamin D, calcium & magnesium. Pregnant mother's should eat diets that include milk, whey, eggs, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, peanuts, chick peas, tofu, moringa, kale, spinach, leafy lettuce, dandelion greens, broccoli, okra, collards, cauliflower, cabbage, beets, raw asparagus, avocado, potato skins, watermelon & bananas. They should drink plenty of clean water, coconut water, white mulberry tea, red hibiscus tea, dandelion tea, raw beet juice, orange juice and aloe juice. They should also start soaking in Epsom salts twice a week. In absence of a tub consider applying Epsom salts dissolved in water on a wash cloth & apply to the belly button so it will get absorbed quicker. Soaking in Epsom salts helps reduce ankle swelling. Diet 4 malnourished mother & new born. The best treatment 4 malnourishment is a hummus paste made from black chick peas mixed w/sesame seeds or regular chick peas. Homemade peanut butter will suffice as this is the main ingredient in Plumpy Nut. Preeclampsia: one of the easiest ways 2 determine if a pregnant woman has preeclampsia is 2 do a protein test. 2 determine if a pregnant mother has protein in her urine get a urine sample & place in hot water for a 2 minutes. Remove the jar from the hot water. If its cloudy then it contains protein which is an indicator she has preeclampsia. Preeclampsia can be regulated w/proper diet & Epsom salts. Midwife should inquire what her diet consists of so she can make appropriate suggestions. Now make some home made test strips out of untreated paper. Cut the paper in strips & dip them in hibiscus tea. Take the strips out & let them dry. Once dried store them in a plastic bag. Ask the pregnant mom to provide her urine sample 2 hours after a meal in a clean glass jar. Dip the strip in the urine. If it turns reddish, then the mother's urine is acidic. If it turns purple then the urine is alkalinic. If it is lavender it is neutral & is fine. If her urine is acidic (lower than 6) it could be 4 a # of reasons: stress or because she's eating processed foods like white flour, sugar & sodas. If the midwives patient has high acidic levels then have them eat leafy greens like kale, garlic, pumpkin, squash, egg yolk, oatmeal, sesame seeds, green tea & to soak in Epsom. Alkaline urine can be caused by a bacterial infection, carbohydrate starvation or taking aspirin. Have her eat hummus, peanut butter, calcium (powdered egg shells), flax seed oil. To test the baby's heartbeat midwives can use a home made Doppler & fetal heart string beads (29 white beads then 10 green & 11 red). Midwife will need to place Doppler on the mother's belly to hear the baby's heartbeat. Hold the Heart String Beads with the red beads facing the body & brace the 1st white bead between your thumb & forefinger. Set the 15 second timer or have someone count down 15 seconds. Start pressing a bead each time you hear the baby's heartbeat. After 15 seconds you will need to look at where you have landed on the bracelet. White means low, green normal and red high blood pressure. If the midwife landed in the white section, the fetal heartbeat is too low. Provide her with sage tea to help raise her blood pressure. Give the mother some water & also ask if she hasn't eaten & if so provide food (preferably a banana). If she can't hold her food down, then provide her with ginger tea. Test the mothers heartbeat. If midwife landed on the Green bead, the heartbeat is normal. The Red, the heartbeat is high. If the heartbeat is too high give the mother some coconut water or a glass of clean water mixed with 1/8th of a teaspoon of aluminum free baking soda with 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. She should retest the heart rate. If the heartbeat remains elevated then apply dissolved Epsom salts on a rag & place on her belly button. Retest her blood pressure, if it is still high then the midwife should take her patient to the hospital. What to do if a pregnant women starts having seizures. Eclampsia warning signs are confusion, headache, drowsiness, difficulty speaking, blurred vision, seeing spots, nausea & vomiting. If present the midwife should get their patient to the hospital asap. If a hospital or clinic is far away & a pregnant mother starts having seizures, turn her on her side so she won't swallow her tongue & rub Epsom Salt Oil on her forehead & her belly button so it will get absorbed into her body quicker. If the pregnant mother is conscious ask her to cough really hard multiple times (cough CPR) & put a pinch of cayenne pepper in her mouth (promotes blood circulation).
