We didn't want to add more keys or risk losing keys so we chose a keyless deadbolt lock set with a keypad. Adding and removing custom passcodes takes seconds! We can also give access codes to neighbors and guests without having to make a bunch of keys. This lock does not use bluetooth or wifi, isn't compatible with IoT (Internet of Things) and won't integrate with your home security system. While these technologies sound amazing it's just one more thing to go wrong which could leave you calling a locksmith if something goes haywire. Many of the newer electronic locks feature a servo (small motor which moves the deadbolt in/out) actuator. In the store this sure seems like a luxury and desirable but if that small motor fails you're left with big problems. For max reliability we recommend a lock you can operate with your amazing opposable thumbs! Installing this lock is super straightforward and took me about an hour including the time it took to record the video. The lockset shown includes a non-keyed handle which makes going in/out of the door super easy. With a lockable deadbolt we can secure our house when we are sleeping our when we are away. We’ve used Schlage keypad style door locks of various kinds for years on our homes and rentals. Even my tenants haven’t been able to destroy them. Bonus! You don’t have to give anyone keys and there is never a lockout! This lock is electronic and is powered by a single 9v battery. In my experience the battery life is about 2 year with moderate use. Since this is a deadbolt and will only see minimal use each day it’s very likely the battery will last even longer! We’ll publish a review of the lock once we’ve used it for a while and can give proper criticism! Thanks for watching.
