Plot: The young gnome Junior travels to the Gnome community for a trial, which determines whether he will be in charge of his own forest. Plot: Kanning makes a good living as a bounty hunter. He always brings the guilty to justice and never makes a mistake. One day he makes a mistake, and decides to leave the bounty business: he buys the town saloon where his woman Donnie works as a whore. Meanwhile Carver busies himself extorting land claims for Bartell Mining Company, and comes into town to register some deeds. Kanning and Carver have bad feelings over a past incident, and Carver kills a whore to get Kanning's attention. When the sheriff and Kanning won't do anything to help find Carver, Donnie and her whores strap on guns, saddle up, and ride out seeking justice.

Plot: Boxer Tommy Nelson is accused of killing his manager. Plot: In an effort to obtain a true story from Davis, a swindler who had taken the rap to protect some higher-ups, professional football star/reporter Jim O'Brien is sent to State Prison under fake charges. Davis has died but the district attorney and Jim's editor refuse to admit their connections to the frame-up and Jim is forced to remain behind bars. The editor promises Jim a governor's pardon after the next election, and assigns him to do a series of articles on the self-regulation system of Warden Collins. The latter allows him freedom of the prison, which throws Jim into contact with Betty Collins, the warden's daughter.
