CJI rejects clause giving Centre veto to nix collegium recommendations

The MoP devised by the Centre, subject to the SC's approval, will govern appointments and transfers in higher judiciary. As first reported by TOI last month, the MoP faced objections from CJI T S Thakur over a controversial clause that gives government power to veto any recommendation made by collegiums of the SC and HCs on the ground of "national security"....
