Bennie Green (April 16, 1923 – March 23, 1977) was an American jazz trombonist.

He died on March 23, 1977.

Green is the color between blue and yellow on the spectrum of visible light. It is evoked by light with a predominant wavelength of roughly 495–570 nm. In the subtractive color system, used in painting and color printing, it is created by a combination of yellow and blue, or yellow and cyan; in the RGB color model, used on television and computer screens, it is one of the additive primary colors, along with red and blue, which are mixed in different combinations to create all other colors.
The modern English word green comes from the Middle English and Anglo-Saxon word grene, from the same Germanic root as the words "grass" and "grow". It is the color of living grass and leaves and as a result is the color most associated with springtime, growth and nature. By far the largest contributor to green in nature is chlorophyll, the chemical by which plants photosynthesize and convert sunlight into chemical energy. Many creatures have adapted to their green environments by taking on a green hue themselves as camouflage. Several minerals have a green color, including the emerald, which is colored green by its chromium content.
Benny or Bennie is a given name or a shortened version of the given name Benjamin, or less commonly, Benedict, Bennett, Bernice, Ebenezer or Bernard.

When pianist, Benny Green, agreed to come to KPLU's Seattle studios for a solo piano performance he was on tour with his band doing a tribute to the music of Thelonious Monk. He said the first music he could remember hearing, and which he attributes the correlation between music and happiness was "Monk's Dream," so it seemed logical he should perform the title track from that album.

Jazz Bassist Jonah Jonathan interviews Jazz Piano Master Benny Green at the 2012 Litchfield Jazz Festival.
Pianist and educator Benny Green came to New York City in the early 1980's during what was hailed in jazz music as the "Young Lions" period. This was era when musicians from the ages of 18 to 25 earned their stripes playing behind the great luminaries of jazz music and these musicians like Cyrus Chestnut, Javon Jackson, The Harper Brothers, The Marsalis Brothers, Jeff Watts, Robert Hurst, Geri Allen, Christian McBride, Roy Hargrove, Lewis Nash and others get their training on the bandstand. In addition to their "on the job" training, these musician, like Benny, have and are leading their own bands but are still on the front lines educating and conducting clinics to help pass this music and theory down to the next generation of jazz musicians and students. Benny Green continued to show gradual growth throughout the 1990s. For this outing with his 1994 trio (which also includes bassist Christian McBride and drummer Kenny Washington), Green shows off the influence of Oscar Peterson and other predecessors, but also displays his own musical voice during a mixture of originals, jazz standards (including "I Want to Talk About You," "Pensativa" and "The Folks Who Live on the Hill") and lesser-known tunes. Three songs add six horns orchestrated by Green and Bob Belden, and a special highlight is Green's solo rendition of Oscar Peterson's "Noreen's Nocturne." Overall, this CD is an excellent example of Benny Green's playing and writing talents. - Scott Yanow, AllMusic.com Recorded in March & May, 1994 at Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, NJ and o...

I always had my doubts
But to my surprise
Somebody cool like you
Standing right before my eyes
Just like a fairytale
Out of my deepest dreams
Feels like I'm flying without any wings
No fear of falling cause I know for sure
That you're the one that I've been waiting for
There is a love I feel for you
Whatever loves says you know I will do
I trust my heart will not lead me a stray
It told me you're my one true love
Sitting here thinking of you and me
Seems like we're meant to be
Words just can't explain how nice it is you're here with me
I know this love is real
It's a rhythm that I'm feeling
Deep in my heart
And I can't let it go
I've got no fear
Cause I know for sure
You are the one
I've been waiting for
There is a love I feel for you
Whatever loves says you know I will do
I trust my heart will not lead me a stray
It told me you're my one true love
Baby you know my heart, my hopes, my thoughts
I'll share them all with you
And I can't believe the love the day
You made my dreams come true
There is a love I feel for you
Whatever loves says you know I will do
I trust my heart will not lead me a stray
It told me you're my one true love
