El mundialmente famoso crítico e historiador musical Simon Reynolds aseguró que "hoy en día no hay bandas de rock provenientes de la clase obrera" y señaló que "se borró la brecha generacional" a la hora de consumir música.
"Si Mick Jagger sigue siendo cool, ¿por qué rechazarlo?", se preguntó Reynolds, al ser consultado sobre la idolatría de las nuevas generaciones por bandas o solistas que datan de los `60 ó `70.

Simon Reynolds (born June 19, 1963 in London, England; raised in Hertfordshire) is an English music critic who is well known for his writings on electronic dance music. Besides electronic dance music, Reynolds has written about a wide range of artists and musical genres, and has written books on post-punk and rock. He has contributed to Melody Maker (where he first made his name), The New York Times, Village Voice, Spin, The Guardian, Rolling Stone, The Observer, Artforum, New Statesman, The Wire, Mojo, Uncut, and others. He currently resides in the East Village in New York City, USA with his wife, Joy Press, and their children, Kieran and Tasmine.
Reynolds' first experience writing about music was with Monitor, a fanzine he helped to found in 1984 while he was studying history at Oxford. The publication only lasted for six issues.[citation needed] When it was discontinued in 1986, Reynolds was already making his name writing for Melody Maker, one of the three major British music magazines of the time (the other two being the New Musical Express and Sounds). His early Melody Maker writings often contained strong criticisms of the concept of "soul" (then being heavily promoted by the NME), and of the somewhat earnest politicisation associated with the Red Wedge movement. He has since stated[citation needed] that his apparent de-politicisation at the time was mainly a result of his sheer despair at Thatcherism and desire to escape - into a parallel world which was, as in the title of his first book, "blissed out". He also wrote a number of articles analysing what has since become known as twee pop from a somewhat sociological perspective, seeing in it a desire to escape the dominant 1980s values of commercialism and Americanisation and to return to a perceived innocent past.

In 2011, Reynolds published the much-discussed book Retromania, about pop culture's addiction to its own past. As a freelance journalist since the late Eighties he has contributed to magazines such as The New York Times, Spin, The Guardian, The Wire, Mojo, Slate, and Frieze. He also maintains a number of blogs centered around his primary online outlet, Blissblog. Reynolds will kick off the Incubate DIY Conference with a keynote speech on the context and background of Do It Yourself in pop culture. He will not look at the origins in history alone, but also to the present and beyond: is there still such a thing as a 'DIY-movement', and what is the importance of it in our current times? El mundialmente famoso crítico e historiador musical Simon Reynolds aseguró que "hoy en día no hay bandas de rock provenientes de la clase obrera" y señaló que "se borró la brecha generacional" a la hora de consumir música.
"Si Mick Jagger sigue siendo cool, ¿por qué rechazarlo?", se preguntó Reynolds, al ser consultado sobre la idolatría de las nuevas generaciones por bandas o solistas que datan de los `60 ó `70.
Reynolds formuló estos conceptos en una charla que mantuvo con periodistas, con motivo de su visita al país para presentar su último libro publicado en la Argentina, "Postpunk. Romper todo y empezar de nuevo", por la editorial "Caja Negra", en el marco de la 5ª Edición del Festival Internacional de Literatura de Buenos Aires (FILBA).
En diálogo a solas con Télam, Reynolds contó la temática que aborda en este trabajo y, al ser consultado sobre artistas argentinos, rescató la figura de Juana Molina, a la que definió como la intérprete "la más reconocida en el Reino Unido".

He also maintains a number of blogs centered around his primary online outlet, Blissblog.
Reynolds will kick off the Incubate DIY Conference with a keynote speech on the context and background of Do It Yourself in pop culture. He will not look at the origins in history alone, but also to the present and beyond: is there still such a thing as a 'DIY-movement', and what is the importance of it in our current times? What future developments can we expect on this topic according to Reynolds?

Thanks to IMAX and Fox, last week I got to do something incredibly cool: I moderated a Q&A; with director Tim Miller, producer Simon Kinberg, and Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld following our special screening at IMAX HQ.
As I have said many times, I absolutely loved Deadpool and think everyone involved deserves a round of applause for getting the tone, rating, action, and characters right. All too often studios play it safe when it comes to adult material, but that didn’t happen with Deadpool. Fox deserves a huge amount of credit for making a hard R superhero movie and not shying away from everything that makes Deadpool great. While Hollywood can be obsessed with franchises and sequels even when they’re not needed, this is one of those properties I can’t wait to see more of, and I hope after Deadpool 2 we finally get to see an X-Force movie!

Simon Curtis has only directed two feature films — 2011’s “My Week With Marilyn” and now “Woman in Gold” but he certainly knows his way around a true story. Woman in Gold stars Helen Mirren as plays Maria Altmann, a woman from an aristocratic Jewish family in Vienna — forced to flee Austria after the country was taken over by the Nazis in 1938. Her family owned an incredible collection of artwork, notably an iconic painting known as “The Woman in Gold” — actually a portrait of her aunt, Adele Bloch-Bauer, painted by famed artist Gustav Klimt. That painting, along with all of the Altmann’s other works of art were confiscated by the Nazis. The film relates Altmann’s long and often frustrating journey to reclaim the paintings — especially the portrait of her aunt — in recent years.
Altmann and her husband had immigrated to the U.S. during World War II and eventually settled in Los Angeles. Ryan Reynolds plays Randol Schoenberg, the young lawyer who helped her in the long legal struggle to regain the artwork — who himself was the grandson of famed Austrian composer Arnold Schoenberg. Bonnie Laufer (@movi_boni) spoke with Simon Curtis during a stop in Toronto to discuss the film, shooting in Austria, his use of our talented Canadian acting pool ( Ryan Reynolds and Tatiana Maslany) his famous wife Elizabeth McGovern ( Cora on Downton Abbey) and much more!
