Confederate Railroad is an American country rock/southern rock band founded in 1987 in Marietta, Georgia by Danny Shirley (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Michael Lamb (lead guitar), Mark Dufresne (drums), Chris McDaniel (keyboards), Warren "Gates" Nichols (steel guitar) and Wayne Secrest (bass guitar). After serving as a backing band for outlaw country act David Allan Coe, the band signed to a recording contract with Atlantic Records, releasing their self-titled debut album that year. Throughout the 1990s, they released four more albums for Atlantic.
Confederate Railroad has released six studio albums. In addition, more than twenty of their singles have entered the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. Only two changes in membership have occurred, both in the late 1990s-early 2000s: Michael Lamb was replaced by Jimmy Dormire on lead guitar, and Cody McCarver took over for Chris McDaniel, the band's original keyboardist. In addition to his work with Confederate Railroad, McCarver has released one solo album and two singles. Dormire was replaced in 2008 by Rusty Hendrix.
"Queen of Memphis" is a song written by Dave Gibson and Kathy Louvin, and recorded by American country music band Confederate Railroad. It was released in December 1992 as the third single from their album Confederate Railroad. It peaked at number 2 in the United States, and number 3 in Canada. It is the band's highest-peaking single.
The music video was directed by John Ware and premiered in early 1993.
Memphis is a city in the southwestern corner of the U.S. state of Tennessee and the county seat of Shelby County. The city is located on the fourth Chickasaw Bluff, south of the confluence of the Wolf and Mississippi rivers.
Memphis had a population of 653,450 in 2013, making it the largest city in the state of Tennessee, the largest city on the Mississippi River, the third largest in the greater Southeastern United States, and the 23rd largest in the United States.
The greater Memphis metropolitan area, including adjacent counties in Mississippi and Arkansas, had a 2014 population of 1,317,314. This makes Memphis the second-largest metropolitan area in Tennessee, surpassed by metropolitan Nashville.
Memphis is the youngest of Tennessee's major cities, founded in 1819 as a planned city by a group of wealthy Americans including judge John Overton and future president Andrew Jackson. A resident of Memphis is referred to as a Memphian, and the Memphis region is known, particularly to media outlets, as "Memphis & the Mid-South".

History [edit]Partridge and his academy The university was founded in 1819 at Norwich by military educator and former superintendent of West Point, Captain Alden B. Partridge. Captain Partridge believed in the "American System of Education," a traditional liberal arts curriculum with instruction in civil engineering and military science. After leaving West Point because of congressional disapproval of his system, he returned to his native state of Vermont to create the American Literary, Scientific and Military Academy. Captain Partridge, in founding his academy, rebelled against the reforms of Sylvanus Thayer to prevent the rise of what he saw as the greatest threat to the security of the young republic: a professional officer class. He believed that a well-trained militia was an urgent ...

During the American Civil War the nature of conflict changed fundamentally. Both Union and Confederate Generals used trains to bring thousands of reinforcements, leading to longer and more frequent battles. It was the North who exploited the railroads the better - through geniuses such as Herman Haupt, who developed techniques of swift railroad construction - and destruction. The episode tells the story of the Great Locomotive Chase - an attempt by Northern spies to steal the locomotive The General. The conflict that divided America helped its unification - the lessons learnt in the war were used to build the Transcontinental Railroad that opened four years after the fighting ceased.

The Memoirs of Colonel John S. Mosby - audiobook John S. MOSBY (1833 - 1916) This is not a work of fiction! These are the actual memoirs of a legendary leader of partisans who bedeviled the Union army for years, almost within sight of the capitol. With only a few local men under command, John Singleton Mosby's ability to strike fast and then melt away before an effective pursuit could be organized kept the Yankee forces awake and often snarled in knots. With daring feats like capturing a Yankee general out of his bed within his defended headquarters, Mosby made his name a synonym for guerrilla warfare. Even today you can purchase in Middleburg, Virginia, a map showing "Mosby's Confederacy." The mettle of the man may be judged by the enemies he kept. Said General Joseph Hooker, "I may her...
Confederate Railroad is a Chattanooga-based country band with a string of hit records over the past 20 years. Band leader Danny Shirley founded the country rock group...and still leads it.
Danny Shirley (born August 12, 1956) is an American country music singer. He is best known as the lead singer of the country rock band Confederate Railroad, a role he has held since its formation in 1987. Before the band was founded, Shirley recorded for Amor Records and charted five singles of his own. In 1994, Shirley co-wrote and sang guest vocals (along with Mark Collie) on "Redneck Heaven", a track from Billy Ray Cyrus's Storm in the Heartland album.

The six members began playing at bars in and around Atlanta, Georgia. Over time, they also worked as a road band for David Allan Coe and Johnny Paycheck. Shirley had previously been signed to the Amor record label as a solo singer, charting five times on the country charts between 1984 and 1988. After several years in the Atlanta area, the band signed with Atlantic Records in 1992 and released its self-titled debut album. The album produced six hit singles and was certified 2× Platinum in the U.S. In 1993, Confederate Railroad was awarded Best New Group at the ACM awards. In order of release, these singles were "She Took It Like a Man," "Jesus and Mam...

We interviewed the legendary Gangsta Boo of 3 6 Mafia with Nick Colletti, Adam22 and Brandon Begin. Listen up! The other day I saw on Instagram that Gangsta Boo was celebrating her birthday at our local bar out here in Hollywood, Black ( http://www.blackhwood.com ). I figured that I would head over and somehow convince her to appear on my podcast. I rolled through with my usual crew of deviants, I got an IG photo ( https://instagram.com/p/6UI6kcyQad/ ), I swam up in her DM's and miraculously just a few days later I had the Queen Of Memphis herself in the OSS store for an interview. I brought along Vine sensation/overall funnyman Nick Colletti as well as professional BMX rider/human compost pile Brandon Begin to assist. We ended up having an hour long conversation about not just her caree...

Four African American women, profane and brassy, bring stand-up comedy to the Orpheum Theater in Memphis, Tennessee. Miss Laura Hayes opens the show and serves as emcee. She tells family stories about her grandkids, her mom, and her sisters. Adele Givens urges her audience to celebrate its flaws; she comments on this crazy world, her 92-year-old grandmother, and the need to take care when naming a baby. Sommore, recently released from jail, talks about kids, men, marriage, and why moms give their 8-year-old daughters a hula hoop. Last, Mo'Nique celebrates big women, contrasts Blacks and whites, and gives advice about sex. The film also cuts away to footage of the Queens on the town having fun.
