Arts and entertainment In Saudi Arabia
During the 1970s, cinemas were numerous in the Kingdom although they were seen as contrary to Wahhabi norms. During the Islamic revival movement in the 1980s, and as a political response to an increase in Islamist activism including the 1979 seizure of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, the government closed all cinemas and theaters. However, with King Abdullah's reforms from 2005, some cinemas have re-op

History Of The Saudi Arabian Kingdom After The Unification
The new kingdom was one of the poorest countries in the world, reliant on limited agriculture and pilgrimage revenues. However, in 1938, vast reserves of oil were discovered in the Al-Ahsa region along the coast of the Persian Gulf, and full-scale development of the oil fields began in 1941 under the US-controlled Aramco (Arabian American Oil Company). Oil provided Saudi Arabia with economic prosp

Thirty-five years ago today, on 20th November 1979, corresponding to 1st Muharram 1400AH of the Islamic calender, as the Imam of Makkah finished the Fajr prayer signaling the dawn of a new century of the Islamic calender, a group of overzealous rebels took the holiest place on earth as hostage claiming they have the promised Mahdi in their midst.
These rebels were not pagans or idol worshipers; on the contrary, they were, outwardly at least, pious Muslims. Many of them were Hufadh of the Qur'an and students of knowledge.
Knowledge is indeed power, but when this knowledge is driven by emotion & rage it becomes a powerfully-lethal force that can lead to fanaticism!

Iraqi troops, backed by volunteer forces, continue operations to fully re-capture the strategic city of Tikrit from the ISIL terrorists.
Local sources say troops managed to liberate the building of Salahuddin Provincial Council and raised the Iraqi flag over it in Tikrit. They also raised the Iraqi flag over Tikrit’s grand mosque as well as the city’s medicine college. The army earlier killed 36 ISIL Takfiri terrorists in separate operations in the city. The operations for the complete liberation of Tikrit have resumed after a ten-day pause to provide a safe passage for civilians to flee. Tikrit was seized by the ISIL in June last year.

The Pakistan Army (Urdu: پاک فوج Pak Fauj (IPA: Pɑk fɒ~ɔd͡ʒ); Reporting name: PA) is the land-based uniform service branch of the Pakistan Armed Forces. It came into existence after the independence of Pakistan in 1947. The Pakistan Army is a volunteer professional fighting force.[1] According to the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) it has an active force of 642,000 personnel in 2012. In addition there were around 500,000 reserves bringing the total to 1,142,000 troops.[2] The Constitution of Pakistan contains a provision for conscription, but it has never been imposed.
The primary mandate and mission of the army is "dedicated to the service of the nation."[3] Since establishment in 1947, the Army (along with its inter–services: Navy, Marines and the Air Force) has been involved in three wars with neighbouring India and several border skirmishes with Afghanistan.[4] Since 1947, it has maintained strong presence along with its inter-services in the Arab states during the past Arab-Israeli Wars, and aided the coalition in the first Gulf War. Recently, major joint-operations undertaken by the Army include Operation Black Thunderstorm and Operation Rah-e-Nijat. Apart from conflicts, the army has been an active participant in UN missions and played a major role in rescuing trapped American soldiers from Mogadishu of Somalia in 1993 in Operation Gothic Serpent.
Under the Article 243, the Constitution of Pakistan appoints the President of Pakistan as the civilian Commander-in-Chief. The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), by statute a four-star general, is appointed by the President with the consultation and confirmation needed from the Prime Minister of Pakistan.[5] The Pakistan Army is currently commanded by General Raheel Sharif.[6][7]

Elite special forces are some of the best-trained and formidable units that a country can boast.
They go where other soldiers fear to tread, scoping out potential threats, taking out strategic targets, and conducting daring rescue missions.
These really are the best of the best.
Although it’s extremely difficult to rank these forces relative to each other, there are some units that rise above the rest in terms of their track record and the fear they instill in their adversaries. These soldiers have been through weeks of rigorous training exercises explicitly designed to weed out those who can’t hit their exacting standards.
In a world where the importance of the sheer size of a country’s military forces is no longer a guide to their effectiveness, these soldiers are the ones state’s look to in order to get the job done.
9) US Marines are pretty hardcore in their own right. Below, a US Marine drinks the blood of a cobra during a jungle survival exercise with the Thai Navy as part of the 'Cobra Gold 2014' joint military exercise.
8) But the US Navy SEALS might one-up even the marines. To join their ranks, you have to be able to do a minimum of 42 push-ups in two minutes, 50 sit-ups in two minutes, and run 1.5 miles in 11 minutes. And that's BEFORE training even starts.
7) The UK equivalent of the Navy SEALS is the Special Boat Service. The selection process involves a gruelling endurance test, jungle training in the rainforests of Belize, and combat survival training, which involves intense interrogation of candidates. And you only get two attempts to pass.
6) The British Special Air Service (or SAS as they are more commonly known), are the infantry counterparts to the SBS. Their insignia bears the famous phrase 'Who dares wins.' Asked about the importance of the SAS's role in the fighting that followed the Iraq war, US General Stanley McChrystal responded: 'Essential. Could not have done it without them.'
5) Israel's Sayeret Matkal is another of the world's most elite units. Its primary purpose is intelligence-gathering and it often operates deep behind enemy lines. During the selection camp (Gibbush), would-be recruits endure hardcore training exercises while being constantly monitored by doctors and psychologists. Only the strongest get in.
In 2003, Israeli taxi driver Eliyahu Gurel was kidnapped after transporting four Palestinians to Jerusalem in his cab. But the Sayeret Matkal unit located and rescued him from a 10-meter-deep pit in an abandoned factory in a suburb of Ramallah.
4) Of all the counter-terrorism forces in the world, few can compete with France's National Gendarmerie Intervention Group (GIGN). The group is 200-strong and trained specifically to respond to hostage situations. They claim to have freed over 600 people since they were formed in 1973. It is against French law to publish pictures of their faces.
One of the most extraordinary episodes in the GIGN's history was the seizure of the Grand Mosque in Mecca in 1979. Due to the prohibition on non-Muslims entering the holy city a team of three GIGN commandos briefly converted to Islam before helping the Saudi armed forces to plan the recapture of the mosque.
3) Russia's Alpha Group is one of the best known special forces units in the world. This elite anti-terrorism unit was created by the KGB in 1974 and remains under its modern day counterpart, the FSB.
Russian special forces, and the Alpha Group in particular, came under criticism during the 2002 Moscow hostage crisis where 129 hostages died from the effects of the gas used to knock-out militants who had seized a theatre.
2) Spain's Unidad de Operaciones Especiales, or the Naval Special Warfare Force as it has become since 2009, has long been one of Europe's best respected special forces. Originally established as the volunteer Amphibious Climbing Company unit in 1952, it has since followed the SAS's example to become an elite fighting force.
Earning the UOE green beret, however, is a big ask with the failure rate of candidates averaging 70-80%. It's not uncommon for 100% of new recruits to be rejected.
1) The Special Services Group, SSG, in Pakistan is better known in the country as the 'Black Storks' due to the commandos' unique headgear. Training reportedly includes a 36-mile march in 12 hours and a five-mile run in 20 minutes in full gear.
In October 2009, SSG commandos stormed an office building and rescued 39 people taken hostage by suspected Taliban militants after an attack on the army's headquarters.

However, with King Abdullah's reforms from 2005, some cinemas have re-opened, including one in KAUST.
From the 18th century onward, Wahhabi fundamentalism discouraged artistic development inconsistent with its teaching. In addition, Sunni Islamic prohibition of creating representations of people have limited the visual arts, which tend to be dominated by geometric, floral, and abstract designs and by calligraphy. With the advent of oil-wealth in the 20th century came exposure to outside influences, such as Western housing styles, furnishings, and clothes. Music and dance have always been part of Saudi life. Traditional music is generally associated with poetry and is sung collectively. Instruments include the rabābah, an instrument not unlike a three-string fiddle, and various types of percussion instruments, such as the ṭabl (drum) and the ṭār (tambourine). Of the native dances, the most popular is a martial line dance known as the ʿarḍah, which includes lines of men, frequently armed with swords or rifles, dancing to the beat of drums and tambourines. Bedouin poetry, known as nabaṭī, is still very popular.
Censorship has limited the development of Saudi literature, although several Saudi novelists and poets have achieved critical and popular acclaim in the Arab world—albeit generating official hostility in their home country. These include Ghazi Algosaibi, Abdelrahman Munif, Turki al-Hamad and Rajaa al-Sanea

Guinea's leader, who seized power in a coup nine months ago, said on Friday that elections will continue as planned even as his military junta prepared to bury 57 people who died when troops fired live ammunition into a pro-democracy rally.
Captain Moussa "Dadis" Camara made the comment during celebrations marking Guinea's independence from France 51
years ago.
Wearing a crisp military uniform, Camara laid a wreath in memory of the victims of Monday's massacre.
Camara previously said he had no control over the troops - including his own presidential guard force - who committed the massacre in which 157 people were reportedly killed.
On Friday, he took the offensive, saying opposition leaders were to blame for the protesters' deaths because they had defied a ban and organised the pro-democracy rally.
He said the election would proceed as scheduled on January 31.
But, refusing to address the issue that sparked Monday's protest, he did not say whether he would run.
"Whether I will be candidate - at the moment I can't tell because I am between the hammer and the anvil," Camara said.
Outside the main mosque in this sweltering seaside capital, family members, many weeping and others shouting in anger, looked for bodies of their slain loved ones in about 10 makeshift tents.
Inside the tents, the bodies were bound tightly in white cloth, laying on wooden pallets.
Heavily armed police and soldiers kept watch over the mourners, who numbered over 1,000.
A human rights group says 157 people were killed and more than 1,000 wounded on Monday when soldiers opened fire at
50,000 people at the national soccer stadium.
The government put the death toll at 57.
Tensions remained high as opposition leaders snubbed Camara's offer to form a national unity government, saying the massacre must be investigated and those responsible held accountable.
The victims were participating in a protest in the capital's main soccer stadium against Camara.
The injured included several top opposition leaders, including former Prime Minister Cellou Diallo, who flew to France late Thursday for treatment.
Monday's bloody demonstration raised concerns that Camara's grip on the country may be slipping.
Camara, a previously unknown army captain in his 40s, was welcomed when he seized power just hours after the death of long-time dictator Lansana Conte.
Camara initially said he would not run in elections scheduled for January, but recently indicated that he may have changed his mind.
After Monday's protest, he banned all gatherings and demonstrations.
Since winning independence from France, Guinea has been pillaged by its ruling elite.

Local residents in the historic city of Timbuktu spoke of their happiness and relief on Friday four days after French special forces liberated the city from Islamist extremists.
Friday prayers were held in the Grand Mosque in Timbuktu and worshippers said they were happy the city had been freed.
Local resident Mahanne Maiga said until recently he had been afraid.
"Until now we have only be able to pray with fear in our minds," he said.
Local resident Tandina said he now felt safe to return to pray.
"Today I have been able to come back to the mosque and I am very happy."
In 2012 the extremists seized control of the northern half of Mali after a military coup destabilised the country.
On 11 January, 2013 the French military launched an intervention to oust them from power in northern Mali and rapidly forced their retreat from the major cities.
The French arrived in Timbuktu before midnight on Monday in a platoon of 600 soldiers, accompanied by 200 Malian troops.
France's military intervention in Mali has now entered its fourth week.
France has said it eventually wants to hand over responsibility for the military mission to the Malian army and other African counterparts.
Speaking on Friday, France's foreign minister Laurent Fabius said the International Support Mission of Mali (MISMA) troops are scheduled to take over from the French troops.

Oil provided Saudi Arabia with economic prosperity and substantial political leverage internationally. Cultural life rapidly developed, primarily in the Hejaz, which was the center for newspapers and radio. However, the large influx of foreigners to work in the oil industry increased the pre-existing propensity for xenophobia. At the same time, the government became increasingly wasteful and extravagant. By the 1950s this had led to large governmental deficits and excessive foreign borrowing.
King Saud succeeded to the throne on his father's death in 1953. However, an intense rivalry between the King and his half-brother, Prince Faisal emerged, fueled by doubts in the royal family over Saud's competence. As a consequence, Saud was deposed in favor of Faisal in 1964. Saudi Arabia gained control of a proportion (20%) of Aramco in 1972, thereby decreasing US control over Saudi oil. In 1973, Saudi Arabia led an oil boycott against the Western countries that supported Israel in the Yom Kippur War against Egypt and Syria. Oil prices quadrupled. Faisal was assassinated in 1975 by his nephew, Prince Faisal bin Musaid and was succeeded by his half-brother King Khalid.
By 1976 Saudi Arabia had become the largest oil producer in the world. Khalid's reign saw economic and social development progress at an extremely rapid rate, transforming the infrastructure and educational system of the country; in foreign policy, close ties with the US were developed. In 1979, two events occurred which greatly concerned the government, and had a long-term influence on Saudi foreign and domestic policy. The first was the Iranian Islamic Revolution. It was feared that the country's Shi'ite minority in the Eastern Province (which is also the location of the oil fields) might rebel under the influence of their Iranian co-religionists. In fact, there were several anti-government uprisings in the region in 1979 and 1980. The second event was the seizure of the Grand Mosque in Mecca by Islamist extremists. The militants involved were in part angered by what they considered to be the corruption and un-Islamic nature of the Saudi government. The government regained control of the mosque after 10 days and those captured were executed. Part of the response of the royal family was to enforce a much stricter observance of traditional religious and social norms in the country (for example, the closure of cinemas) and to give the Ulema a greater role in government. Neither entirely succeeded as Islamism continued to grow in strength.
King Khalid died of a heart attack in June 1982, and was succeeded by his brother, King Fahd, who added the title "Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques" to his name in 1986 in response to considerable fundamentalist pressure to avoid use of "majesty" in association with anything except God. Fahd continued to develop close relations with the United States and increased the purchase of American and British military equipment. The vast wealth generated by oil revenues was beginning to have an even greater impact on Saudi society. It led to rapid modernisation, urbanization, mass public education and the creation of new media. This and the presence of increasingly large numbers of foreign workers greatly affected traditional Saudi norms and values. Although there was dramatic change in the social and economic life of the country, political power continued to be monopolized by the royal family leading to discontent among many Saudis who began to look for wider participation in government.

STORYLINE:
Demonstrations took place across Baghdad against the attack on the holy shrine of Imam al-Hadi in Samarra, north of the capital, on Wednesday after a large explosion heavily damaged the golden dome of one of Iraq's most famous Shiite religious shrines.
In Baghdad's Sadr City, thousands of Shiites, some brandishing Kalashnikov rifles, marched through the streets shouting anti-American slogans.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but suspicion fell on Sunni extremist groups such as al-Qaida in Iraq of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
The shrine contains the tombs of two revered Shiite imams, both descendants of the Prophet Muhammad, and is among Iraq's most sacred sites for Shiite Muslims.
The country's most revered Shiite cleric, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, sent instructions to his followers forbidding attacks on Sunni mosques, especially the major ones in Baghdad. He also called seven days of mourning, his aides said.
Meanwhile, the radical Iraqi Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr has apparently cut short a visit to Lebanon and left by road for Syria, where he was expected to travel back to Iraq, Lebanese officials said.
Speaking at the demonstration in Sadr City on Wednesday one of his spokesmen, Abdul-Hadi al-Daraji, said that the supporters of Muqtada al-Sadr "declare our readiness to strongly defend our shrines and we swear by God that we will make it another Karbala (a battle which Imam al-Hussein waged 1400 years ago) against all those who don't defend the holy shrines of our Imams.''
The shrine attack followed a devastating car bomb late on Tuesday in a Shiite corner of Baghdad, killing 22 people, according to police. On Monday, 12 died in a suicide attack on a bus in the capital's heavily Shiite district of Kazimiyah.
Tradition says the holy shrine of Imam al-Hadi, which draws Shiite pilgrims from throughout the Islamic world, is near the place where the last of the 12 Shiite imams, Mohammed al-Mahdi, disappeared.
An attack at such an important religious shrine would constitute a grave assault on Shiite Islam at a time of rising sectarian tensions.
Police believed some people may be buried under the debris, but there were no confirmed figures.
A National Security Adviser said armed men wearing special forces uniforms broke inside the shrine and seized the guards, including policemen, responsible for protecting the site.
The gunmen planted the explosives and fled, an officer said.

STORYLINE:
Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini appealed for a "civilised dialogue" between religions as he stood in the Grand Mosque here at the start of a Middle East visit designed to win the release of two Italian women kidnapped in Iraq.
Frattini arrived in Kuwait on Monday afternoon. He held talks with Kuwait's information minister, toured the country's biggest house of worship, and was scheduled to meet the prime minister as part of a series of
consultations on the aid workers who were kidnapped on Sept. 7.
The Italian government has been working feverishly to free the women, who were seized weeks after an Italian freelance journalist was abducted and slain in Iraq. Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's government was sharply criticised for not doing enough to secure the journalist's release.
In the latest kidnapping, armed militants stormed into the Baghdad office of the aid agency "Un Ponte Per..." ("A Bridge To...") and grabbed the two Italian women as well as two Iraqis.
In brief remarks in the Grand Mosque, Frattini said: "This holy place is a place to start a civilised dialogue between religions." "I feel so much solidarity for the hostages, in heart and words, and I want to seize this opportunity to appeal to you (the people of Kuwait) to help us release all the hostages, the Italian hostages in particular."
During his tour of the building, one of the largest mosques in the Middle East, reporters heard the Islamic Affairs Ministry guide tell Frattini that the marble and gold-plated chandeliers came from Italy.
The Italian Foreign Ministry announced Sunday that Frattini would embark on a tour of the Gulf as an initiative "to bring about the liberation of the hostages taken in Iraq."
"Frattini will renew the appeals for solidarity and for respect for the life of innocent civilians generously working for the Iraqi people," the ministry said.
Earlier it was reported that Frattini would meet his Kuwaiti counterpart, but the Kuwaiti foreign minister is abroad.
The announcement came hours after an Internet statement - purportedly from a militant group - that said the two women would be killed if Italy does not withdraw its troops from Iraq within 24 hours.
Italy's government supported the U.S.-led war in Iraq and contributed about 3,000 troops for reconstruction after Saddam Hussein's ouster.

Sex In Sleep Documentary (DMAX) - Sex Documentary Films
Sleep sex, or sexsomnia, is a condition in which a person will engage in sexual activities while asleep. This condition falls within the broad class of sleep disorders known as parasomnias.[1] In extreme cases, sexsomnia has been alleged, and accepted, as at least a part of the cause of sexual assault, including rape.[2][3]
The proposed medical diagnosis is NREM arousal parasomnia – sexual behaviour in sleep. Sexsomnia is considered a type of non-rapid eye movement sleep (NREM) parasomnia. Sexsomniacs do not remember the acts that they perform while they are asleep.
Sexsomnia can co-occur alongside other sleep disorders such as sleepwalking, sleep apnea, night terrors and bedwetting and can be triggered by stress, previous sleep deprivation and excessive consumption of alcohol or other drugs. Sleep related epilepsy may be associated with sexual arousal, pelvic thrusting and orgasms. Sexsomnia episodes may be triggered by physical contact with a bed partner. Sexsomnia, which is a fairly new medically recognized behaviour, has been used in criminal defense cases of rape. There have been several cases of sexsomnia which have appeared in the news and also in pop culture as reality shows and movies.

What Amerika needs, is a concerted effort on the part of the people to get rid of the entire 'Money Mafia' which includes the Federal Reserve and it's collection agency army, the IRS. If you believe in this cause, then you belong on this channel and if you don't, why don't you go drink some lite beer and waste your life, peeing? If you knew more about the IRS, you wouldn't still be talking about them building bridges and paving roads. The only roads that the IRS paves, is the private roads of those in the 'Money Mafia' which includes the Vatican and the Crown. The more you learn about the IRS and the Fed, the more you know they have to go!

Rain Miracles of Mahdi, Martyr Ganga's1st entry as wife in Red dress, caught by my hair.

I am Mahdi, Jesus of 2nd coming. There were many vdos of my rain miracles. I used to give paper Ads like this in D.C. news paper under heading "astrology" as " Mahdi the 2ndjesus have arrived, C spot rain miracles, change your Fate in just 2 hours, qadiani is kana dajjal, all astrologers are zero". I worked against all astrologers, pagans & cheater magicians. All those who have visited me had seen rain miracles & paid me 1100 to 11000 rupees just for 2 hours. I used to give appointment only to a single person or 2-1/2 hours with full concentration. I used to first convert the person into a believer of one Allah (om, Ywe, Nirguna Brahma) then pray to Allah for changing the fate into good & give rain on the spot as an approval so that the person believes in Allah & me as Mahdi. Allah did many special rain miracles some of which were recorded in many vdos. And those vdos were stolen by my 3rd wife Brahmacharini (Sajidah fatima)'s brothers when I was in jail or 100 days. They grabbed my flat illegally, stole away my computers, all details of the witnesses who have seen rain miracles, they stole away my many things & Sajidah was in saudi at that time. But later I became powerful, a fighter Messiah, got my flat back, a holy rowdy Mahadev. 3 vdos of live rain miracles are still in the custody of police. Then I was arrested on false complaints by building association who were frightened & foolish. Because many persons have gathered around my building to meet me, out of fear of communal discord the police took support of this false case and arrested me for just claiming to be Mahdi 2ndjesus. No other reason at all. Till 20013 they couldn't even file any chargesheet gainst me. But I received heavy publicity thru T.V., News papers. I was corrupted by a woman Adi the Jin in 2002 just a day before my arrest, her name was Sarah. She was demonic who entered in disguise of my wife but later in 2004 I cleaned her from the demon. The prophecies were fulfilled. Police is now ashamed to book me under false case. Inshallaah will be taken from court soon. Then I will upload them inshallaah. Many rain miracles happened in that year 2002 when Ganga entered as my 4rth wife. she was impressed by my hair & married me. Then I was arrested due to so much publicity of rain miracles. U can C proofs from your own eyes. In those days Goddess Ganga (sumrana means tasbeeh which means the one who keeps on moving, word tasbeeh is derived from uzb (means to move)). She was impressed by my hair & married me. Then I was arrested due to so much publicity of rain miracles. My phones were so much ringing continiously for 4 days. U can C proofs from your own eyes. Then I was arrested on false complaints by building association people who were frightened & foolish. After 2002 september our 1st day of marriage she was pregnant with my twins in 2002 A.D. but she aborted them because I was arrested on 13th, 9- 2002. She was with her parents. But due to fear of her parents & our secret holy marriage she did that without my knowledge. After my coming out of jail on sunday 100th day in 2002, she again met me in 2004, got married in front of qazi again, lived with me or 5 years then became martyr . My wife sumrana now died in 2009 29th jan around 11 am after giving birth to God Apollo skanda under bushes beside moosi lake. The vdos of her last moments R also there. May Allah bless her in heavens. Allah made me meet her thrice in Heavens through visions. As now she is dead & has no chance of any misbehaviour from anybody, I am putting this vdo for those who are believers of mother gangaa & will respect her always. So kindly C your father Mahdi with mother Ganga's pure holy 1st meeting. I have 4 alive children from her. She was the first believing woman in my life who had a mole on right wrist exactly like me and her blood group also b positive like me. Her father Mujahid Ali Shah Ahmad pasha was Bhagirath sajjadah of yousufain dargah nampally & her cousin brother Faisal Ali Shah is Taraka Asur. Ganga is only daughter of her parents along with 2 brothers. She is also known as Devaki & her father as Devaka. She had married first with Farooq (Shantanu) bore him a son Najabathn Ali Khan Sadiq (Devratha Bhishmah), then was divorced by Shantanu, married with Shahid an impotent Bald ugly man. Due to uglyness, baldness & impotency of her husband she was caught by my hair as per prophecy. She has the nature of always roaming & I only could control her. At that time I was not aware of my V mark on forehead though it was there visible, I was not aware o meaning of word "bhagwaan", "God", and I was not even aware that Sumrana is goddess Ganga. As soon as I opened the door, she first saw me, then pulled my hair to check whether I am bald or having wigg. May Allah give her good gifts in heaven & convey my salaam to her parents along with her, Ameen.

The politics of Saudi Arabia takes place in the context of an absolute monarchy, where the King of Saudi Arabia is both head of state and the head of government, but decisions are, to a large extent, made on the basis of consultation among the senior princes of the royal family and the religious establishment. The Qur'an is declared to be the constitution of the country, which is governed on the basis of Islamic law.
Government is dominated by the vast royal family, the Al Saud, which has often been divided by internal disputes and into factions. The members of the family are the principal political actors. Political participation outside of the royal family is limited, but there has been pressure for some time to broaden participation. In recent years, there has been a rise in Islamist activism, which has also resulted in Islamist terrorism. According to at least some observers, "traditionally" issues such as foreign policy, national defense, and international affairs have been "the purview of the state" in Saudi Arabia, while "justice, education, and family matters", being related to religion, had been handled by "the religious establishment". However, in recent years, "the Saudi state has been working to reclaim control of these areas."

Isis fighters are committing widespread, organised and systematic rape and sexual assault on Yazidi women and girls in what may amount to a crime against humanity, a report by Human Rights Watch (HRW) has found.
HRW said fighters from Europe are among those from Iraq, Syria, other countries in the Middle East and Central Asia abusing girls and women, according to harrowing accounts from victims. The organisation spoke to girls as young as 12 after they escaped their captors in northern Iraq, who described being gang-raped by brutal fighters multiple times. Many had witnessed other women and young girls being sexually assaulted.
A doctor in charge of treating survivors in Dohuk said at least 70 of the 105 female survivors she had treated appeared to have been raped while being held hostage by the extremist group.
One woman, Rashida, described militants choosing women by drawing their names out of a "lottery". The 31-year-old says she tried to kill herself by swallowing a toxic chemical after being ordered by the fighter who picked her name to bathe.
