Family is an American television drama series that aired on the ABC television network from 1976 to 1980. Creative control of the show was split among executive producers Leonard Goldberg, Aaron Spelling and Mike Nichols. A total of 86 episodes were produced. It is not related to the ABC sitcom A New Kind of Family that aired concurrently with Family during its final season.
The show featured Sada Thompson and James Broderick as Kate and Doug Lawrence, a happily married middle-class couple living at 1230 Holland Street in Pasadena, California. Doug was an independent lawyer and Kate was a housewife (she would eventually go back to school). They had three children: Nancy (portrayed by Elayne Heilveil in the original mini-series and later by Meredith Baxter Birney), Willie (Gary Frank), and Letitia, nicknamed "Buddy" (Kristy McNichol). (There was another son, Timothy, who had died five years prior to the series' beginning.) The show raised the profile of all of its featured actors during its run and, in particular, catapulted McNichol to stardom.
Family is the second album by Think About Life, released on May 26, 2009.
In a favourable review, critic Ben Rayner singled out the songs "Johanna" ("think digital-age Sly & The Family Stone") and "Sofa-bed", "which sounds like TV on the Radio with a clearer sense of melody."
Family is a television drama mini-series that aired on RTÉ One and BBC One in 1994. It was written by Roddy Doyle, the author of The Commitments, and directed by Michael Winterbottom.
The show centres on the Spencers, a working-class family living in a vast Dublin housing estate. Charlo, played by Seán McGinley, is the abusive and cheating husband of Paula, played by Ger Ryan. They have four children, teenagers John Paul and Nicola, and younger children Leanne and Jack.
There were four episodes, each focusing on a member of the family. Most of the 'on location' filming took place in Ballymun, on the Northside of Dublin.
The first episode focuses on Charlo, a small-time crook who is also an alcoholic, abusive father and husband.
The second episode focuses on the rebellious teenage son. Named after Pope John Paul II due to his 1979 visit to Ireland, John Paul has just started secondary school.
The third episode focuses on Nicola, in her late teens, who works in a clothing factory and has a strained relationship with her father, particularly in relation to her burgeoning sexuality.

It was located on XM 12 (previously 22) and plays a mix of hit songs from 1980-present day, except for urban music. MIX was one of 5 channels on XM's platform that plays commercial advertisements, which amount to about 3–4 minutes an hour, and are sold by Premiere Radio Networks. The channel was programmed by Clear Channel Communications, and was Clear Channel's most listened to channel on XM Radio, in both cume and AQH, according to the Fall 2007 Arbitron book.
Artists heard on MIX included Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, Lenny Kravitz, Jewel and Nelly Furtado; and groups like Maroon 5 and Blues Traveler. One can also hear top chart hits including songs from Train, Alanis Morissette, 3 Doors Down, Evanescence, Dave Matthews Band, No Doubt, Santana, Matchbox Twenty, and U2.
On June 8, 2011, this was replaced by a simulcast by WHTZ, licensed to Newark, New Jersey and serving the New York City area.
Mix is an adult contemporary music radio network in New Zealand, broadcasting music from the 80s and 90s. The network began as Radio i in 1970, and has also operated at Easy Listening i, Viva and Easy Mix. It had stations Tauranga, Hawke's Bay and Wellington before going off-air in 2012. It relaunched in Auckland in 2014 and Christchurch in 2015, and is currently owned and operated by New Zealand Media and Entertainment.
Mix is targeted towards 39 to 54-year-old women who are fashion-aware, up with the latest trends, catches up with friends for brunch or coffee, and is in charge of their household budget. The network's only programme, a four-hour weekday morning show with Mel Homer, covers fashion, entertainment, dining, music, and health and beauty. Its head office and studios are located in central Auckland, alongside New Zealand Media and Entertainment's seven other radio networks.
Outside of its weekday morning programme, Mix plays music without hosts. The station plays a shuffle of 1980s and 1990s top 40 music, from Madonna's Like a Virgin to Coolio’s Gangsta's Paradise. Artists like Prince, Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, INXS, Robbie Williams, George Michael and Ricky Martin get regular airplay.
KMXV ("Mix 93.3") is a Top 40 (CHR) station based in Kansas City, Missouri, United States. The Steel City Media outlet operates at 93.3 MHz with an ERP of 100 kW. Its current slogan is "Kansas City's #1 Hit Music Station". It is also one of two Top 40's competing in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, the other being KCHZ. The station's studios are located at Westport Center in Midtown Kansas City, and the transmitter site is in the city's East Side.
The station was sold off by CBS Radio to Wilks Broadcasting in November 2006 as part of a nationwide reduction of radio stations by CBS. On June 12, 2014, Wilks announced that it is selling its Kansas City cluster (of which KMXV is part of) to Pittsburgh-based Steel City Media. The sale was approved on September 26, 2014, and was consummated on September 30.
The station began in 1958 as KCMK-FM (Kansas City, Missouri/Kansas), a classical station, but had several format changes (primarily country) over the next sixteen years. County DJ Jack Wesley "Cactus Jack" Call was at the station (from KCKN) for one week when he was killed on January 25, 1963 in a car crash. Singer Patsy Cline sang at a benefit for him at Memorial Hall (Kansas City, Kansas) on March 3, 1963. She was unable to leave Kansas City the next day because the airport was fogged in and was killed in a plane crash on March 5, 1963 en route from Fairfax Airport to Nashville.
