"Friends and Family" is the twenty-ninth episode of Burn Notice, an American television drama series created for the USA Network. "Friends and Family" has Michael attempting to help an old friend.
After Michael jumps out of the helicopter in the previous episode "Lesser Evil", he swims to the shore where his instincts kick in and he notices a cop looking in his direction. After a quick chase scene, Michael enters a hotel where he calls Fiona and finds out that someone has stopped protecting his name, and there are numerous warrants out for him. After quick deliberation, Michael decides to cooperate and walks outside where he is promptly arrested.
While in jail, Sam comes to visit Michael where he tells him that his shades have been sent to the loft, as well as a card which was sent from Management stating "Let us know when you've had enough - Management". Sam also lets Michael know that he is on the radars of foreign agencies again, as well as no longer being hidden from the police systems. Afterwards, Michael's old friend, Harlan (Brian Van Holt) shows up and bails him out of jail. They return to Michael's mom's house where he sees the damage they (Sam and Madeline) caused in "Lesser Evil" while trying to escape from the group that burned Michael. Here, Harlan asks for Michael's help for a girl he met down south. The situation is where a powerful crime lord named Rufino Cortez in Venezuela pays judges to throw landowners in jail and seize their property, and then proceeds to sell them to American firms.
