Come Together: American Artists Respond to Al-Mutanabbi StreetWednesday, March 30, 2016The Smithsonian Libraries opens “Come Together: American Artists Respond to Al-Mutanabbi Street,” at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery Library beginning Feb. 1. The Libraries will host the Seventh Annual Commemorative Reading to remember the 2007 bombing of Al-Mutanabbi Street on March 5 at 6 p.m. in the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s McEvoy Auditorium, 8th and G Streets N.W. |
The Smithsonian Libraries will award grants to Baird Society, Dibner Library and Penick Resident Scholars in the 2016-2017 acacemic year. These competitive grants are offered to historians, librarians and bibliographers, as well as predoctoral and postdoctoral students, with an approved research project.
The Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art and the Smithsonian Libraries present a new exhibition, “Artists’ Books and Africa,” at the National Museum of African Art beginning Sept. 16. “Artists’ Books and Africa” will be on display through Sept. 11, 2016.
The Smithsonian Libraries opens its new exhibition “Fantastic Worlds: Science and Fiction, 1780–1910” in the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History July 1. “Fantastic Worlds” will be on display through October 2016.
