WhoMadeWho

WhoMadeWho is a Copenhagen-based experimental pop trio, who formed in 2003. The band consists of jazz guitarist Jeppe Kjellberg, drummer Tomas Barfod and singer/bassist Tomas Høffding.

Career

The band released several 12-inches on German disco label Gomma Records including Out the Door and Space to Rent, culminating in their self-titled debut album WhoMadeWho in 2005. In 2009 they released their second album The Plot, the third album Knee Deep was released in 2011 followed by Brighter in 2012. The latest album Dreams was released in 2014.

As a live band, WhoMadeWho has played alongside genre bending contemporaries Daft Punk, Soulwax, Hot Chip, Justice and LCD Soundsystem. After touring together Hot Chip asked to remix their single "TV Friend", and Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age has covered "Space to Rent".

WhoMadeWho gained further popularity when they headlined the Benicàssim festival in 2007 after a delay caused scheduled headliners, Klaxons, to arrive too late to play their set.

Nina K

Nina Micaela Kinert (26 September 1983), known professionally as Nina K since March 2015, is a Swedish musician/artist. Her sound is a mix between pop, folk and electronic music .

History

In 2004 she released her first album Heartbreaktown on her own label Another Records. The following EP Visitor and the album Let There Be Love were issued on the Swedish branch of V2 Records in 2005. In 2006-07 she was featured by Norwegian singer Ane Brun on her concert tours (Live in Scandinavia, 2007).

Beside the support of the already established Brun, Kinert rose to prominence in 2007 following the use of her song "Through Your Eyes" in a worldwide publicity campaign for the Swedish car company SAAB. A song she did not write, but lent her voice to.

In October 2007, she was featured on the Steve Jansen album Slope, singing on "Playground Martyrs (Reprise)" (another version of that song on the album featured Jansens' brother David Sylvian).

In November 2010, she released Red Leader Dream, an album inspired by the Star Wars trilogy. It was issued by her new own label NinkinaRecordings.

Secretly Canadian

Secretly Canadian is an American independent record label based in Bloomington, Indiana with offices in Brooklyn, London, Austin, Los Angeles and Paris. Now run by Ben Swanson, Chris Swanson and Darius Van Arman, the current roster includes The War On Drugs, Antony and the Johnsons, Tig Notaro, Damien Jurado, Here We Go Magic and Gardens & Villa among others.

History

Secretly Canadian was started in 1996 by Chris and Ben Swanson, Eric Weddle, and Jonathan Cargill. The label's first two releases were a 7" by Songs: Ohia and a re-issue of an album by June Panic. Weddle later left to form label Family Vineyard, and the remaining trio were joined by Darius Van Arman in 1999. The label joined forces with Van Arman's Jagjaguwar, and the company has expanded rapidly since then.

Tig Notaro's LIVE was nominated for a Grammy in 2014 for best Comedy Album and The War on Drugs won the A2IM Libera award for Album of the Year in 2015.
