Randomness

Randomness is the lack of pattern or predictability in events. A random sequence of events, symbols or steps has no order and does not follow an intelligible pattern or combination. Individual random events are by definition unpredictable, but in many cases the frequency of different outcomes over a large number of events (or "trials") is predictable. For example, when throwing two dice, the outcome of any particular roll is unpredictable, but a sum of 7 will occur twice as often as 4. In this view, randomness is a measure of uncertainty of an outcome, rather than haphazardness, and applies to concepts of chance, probability, and information entropy.

The fields of mathematics, probability, and statistics use formal definitions of randomness. In statistics, a random variable is an assignment of a numerical value to each possible outcome of an event space. This association facilitates the identification and the calculation of probabilities of the events. Random variables can appear in random sequences. A random process is a sequence of random variables whose outcomes do not follow a deterministic pattern, but follow an evolution described by probability distributions. These and other constructs are extremely useful in probability theory and the various applications of randomness.

Forever Famicom

Forever Famicom is a studio album by American rapper Random and K-Murdock, released on June 1, 2010 by Neosonic Records. It samples from a variety of NES and Super NES games. The album has been released in the US and Japan.

Production History

After releasing his second chiptune album, Mega Ran 9 in 2009, Random released two more albums before the announcement of Forever Famicom on the official Mega Ran website. The album, from its conception in late 2007 to its completion phase, took almost three years of back-and-forth recording with K-Murdock over the Internet. In addition to the announcement, two tracks, "Dream Master" and "Epoch" were leaked in a double-single. On May 23, 2010, preorders were available to be put in before the release date the next week. The album released on June 1, 2010, along with an additional album, Forever Famicom DLC that featured bonus tracks and instrumentals.

On July 7, 2010, Random announced the "Forever Famicom Tour," which was to hit the southeast, starting with Charlotte, North Carolina.

Raheem Jarbo

Raheem Jarbo, also known by his stage names Mega Ran and Random, is an American underground rapper, chiptune DJ, and record producer. He is mainly associated with the genre known as nerdcore. In February 2015, he changed his name, removing Random from any releases.

Early life

Jarbo was born in Philadelphia, PA to an American-born mother and African-born father. He has stated in interviews that he wrote his first song in 1993 and began producing in 2000. After college, Jarbo landed a job as an engineer in a Philadelphia studio, and recorded his first demo which caught the ear of Philadelphia emcee Ohene, who had created a label as a home for creative hip-hop music. Jarbo resided in Philadelphia until a 2006 move to Phoenix, Arizona.

Education

Jarbo holds a bachelor's degree from Penn State and worked full-time as a special education teacher in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, then as a middle school teacher in Phoenix, Arizona. Jarbo maintained both a music and teaching career until 2011, when he retired from teaching to focus on music full-time. Jarbo's albums are currently being utilized in coursework at Penn State University, Temple University, and Virginia Tech among others.
