Is laminate flooring a viable option for the kitchen?

Post 12 of 447

Even though many people tend to be skeptical when it comes to installing laminate flooring in the kitchen, there are many experts that make an excellent point in showing people that this truly is an option they should not give up on from the start. Even though most people think that tiles are the best choice for the kitchen floors, here are the points you should consider when it comes to making your final decision:

Is laminate flooring a viable option for the kitchen

Water damage – an overrated concern

The reason why most people avoid choosing pavimento laminato for their kitchens is because they are afraid that it will not do well in contact with water. However, even ceramic tiles have their water absorption limits, so if a problem would arise, chances are your flooring would not look the same anyway. In addition, when you stop to think about it, how often have you actually had a problem with water in the kitchen, that you did not manage to fix right away? Every time you spill something, you wipe it out. You do it with tile flooring and you will do the same with laminate one, so this should certainly not be the reason that stops you from getting the flooring you want. In addition, a properly installed laminate floor will not allow water to reach the core, so you don’t have anything to worry about.

Excellent scratch resistance properties

The superior layer of laminate parquet has the single purpose of protecting it against scratches and it can actually do a pretty good job. Don’t worry that every time you drop something, you risk damaging the floor, because that is just not the case. Of course, just like with all other flooring types, there are various degrees of quality in laminate as well, so you just have to choose the one that is best for your kitchen. You should also consider how much you actually use the kitchen. Many people worry about their flooring too much, especially since they usually prefer to eat out or they just don’t have that much time to cook anyway. One thing is for sure, scratching should not be a concern when choosing the kitchen flooring.

Easy to replace

The laminate is basically a floating floor. This means that it is not directly attached by the substrate, so of something happens to one of the tiles, they can be easily replaced. Unlike tiles which are permanently joined and would require a lot of work to replace, the biggest concern that you have with the laminate is the fact that you may not be able to find exactly the same color you chose in the first place. This is why many experts advise people to buy an additional carton or two and store it somewhere. However, unless you chose something completely unique, you should be able to find what you need, especially if you contact the same supplier. Even though laminate is a man-made flooring, the shades are quite similar from one store to another, so finding what you need should not be a problem.
