Setting Up Your TV
Did you know setting up your
Charter TV can be as easy as watching it? In fact, you can do it yourself. Here's how:
Getting Started
Open your Charter
Digital TV Home Shipment Self-Install kit.
Inside you'll find an instruction sheet, and welcome packet. Just under them on the left, you'll see a digital set-top box. On the right, you'll find your remote and cables.
Now let's get you connected.
First, connect one end of your coax cable to the "cable in" port on the back of your digital set-top box and the other end into the cable outlet on your wall. Then, plug in the power cord to your digital set-top box and the other end into the wall
.
If the available input on the back of your
HDTV resembles this, then use the cable that looks like this.
Plug one end into the input on the back of your TV, and the other end into the back of your digital set-top box.
Or, if the available input on the back of your HDTV resembles these five ports, then use the cable that looks like this. Plug one end into the inputs on the back of your TV, and the other end into the back of your digital set-top box, while making sure to match the colors on your cables to the colors on the input ports.
You will only need to connect one of these types of cables between your TV and your digital set-top box, either the
HDMI or the
Component cables, but not both. The HDMI is the first preference and the
Component is the second preference. Make sure the cables are fit snugly to each end and that all the connections are tight to ensure good picture quality.
Next, use the remote that came with your TV to change the "input" or "source" setting on the TV to the proper HDMI or Component source depending on which connection you selected.
If you have a
Standard Definition TV and the inputs on the back of your TV resemble this, then use the cable that looks like this and plug one end into the input on the back of your TV, and the other end into the back of your digital set-top box ensuring tight connections on both ends. Then, use the remote that came with your TV to change the "input' or "source" setting on the TV to the proper audio/video source.
Or, if you have a Standard Definition TV and the inputs on the back of your TV resemble this then use the cable that looks like this. Plug one end into the inputs on the back of your TV, and the other end in the back of your digital set-top box ensuring a "finger tight" connection on either end. Next, use the remote that came with your tv to change the "input" or "source" setting on the tv to "tv" and put the tv on channel 3 or 4.
You will only need to connect one of these types of cables between your tv and digital set-top box, either the composite cable or the coax cable, but not both.
Now you're connected.
