Kapil Sharma: I would love to invite our PM Narendra Modiji on my new show

Better known for his awesome comic timing and rib-tickling humour, comedy king Kapil Sharma, along with Sunil Grover, is looking forward to his new show.



The ace comedian's previous show going off air had created much hype, but now the duo is all set to return with a bang, on a new TV channel. In a candid conversation with us, both Sunil and Kapil opened up about the bond they share now and the differences they once had. Kapil spilled the beans about conflicts with the channel and what hurt him the most when the show went off air. Excerpts from the interviews:

KAPIL SHARMA
A lot has been already said and written about the conflicts between you and the channel that aired your previous show. What was that one thing that hurt you the most when the show went off air?
We had a good association, but unfortunately at the end all was not well. I would just say that even in our families there are small conflicts between different relations, but I won't blame anyone. The only thing that deeply hurt me after the show went off air was that the channel removed the show from online sites too. It had gained popularity and frankly it was not a channel-specific show, but a janta ka show. The show received immense love from the public and they (the channel) should not have done this, but we have moved on.

What's the difference that viewers will be seeing in your new show?
The channel is new, side mein logo bhi naya dikhega, aur hum naye kapde bhi pehnege (The logo won't be visible and we'll wear new clothes). We have a really great team and we would try to portray various characters. The characters were played earlier, received lot of popularity in households, so we have tried to sort out on characters that viewers would love to watch again, and we have also worked on fresh content.
There will be a lot of happiness and laughter once again.

What was the reaction of guests coming to your previous show when they heard about it going off air?
There was a lot of support and appreciation from all corners. It feels great when people recognise your work and all the efforts put in by you. We had all the best wishes from our audience and for us, that counts a lot. Now we are happy making a comeback, thanks to our well wishers who have given us tremendous love.
Krushna Abhishek is seen taking digs at you. Will you retaliate?
Others can do what they want, but that's not my style. I let my work speak.

SUNIL GROVER
The previous show had connected well with the audience. What is your aim for the new show?
The entire team would agree that all of us have an added responsibility now. We are extremely happy that we are making a comeback, but we are also focused on living up to the expectations of our viewers, once again.
What about the character of Gutthi that you essayed in your previous show?
I would be playing multiple characters for which I am preparing well. The character of Gutthi gave me immense popularity and I would say it was an actual break for me. The character is, and always will be, close to my heart. Presently, I am looking forward to starting the new show.

You had left CNWK and then returned. There were even reports of a split between you and Kapil. What is the bond you share now?
Well, Kapil is an awesome guy and an artiste to work with. He always motivates everyone for their good work and we, as a team, actually share a very warm relationship. Each one of us works hard and looks towards just one aim, that is entertaining our viewers with healthy comedy.
