Rodney P (born Rodney Panton in Battersea, London) is an EnglishMC who entered the UK hip hop scene in the 1980s. He started out as a member of the London Posse, one of the UK's first home grown hip hop acts who were highly influential in the development of the genre. Rodney P has had one of the longest and most respected careers in UK hip hop. Also known as da riddim killa, he cites the reggae he heard while growing up as a second-generation West Indian immigrant as an influence on his dub-heavy music.
In 1986, The London Posse were invited by Mick Jones of The Clash to support his new band Big Audio Dynamite on a UK tour. A recording contract with Big Life records followed, and Rodney P went on to support hip-hop heavyweights N.W.A and Soul II Soul in the early nineties.
The decision to guard his creative control led to the birth of his own label Riddim killa, a collaboration with Low Life Records, one of the leading labels of the rapidly growing scene. He was introduced to DJ Skitz by a mutual friend from the Deal Real workshop in the West End, and appears on Skitz’s albums Countryman and Homegrown volume 1. The pair went on to host a show on the BBC 1Xtra radio station, a leading black music network, which ran for five years until 2007. This development in his career led to involvement in radio documentaries, including a programme recorded in Johannesburg about the aftermath of Apartheid.
Dub Pistols are an English electronic music group founded by Barry Ashworth in 1996. The other members of the band were record producer and bassist Jason O'Bryan, Brooklyn producer and lyricist, T. K. Lawrence on vocals, Jap Slut guitarist John King, and DJ Stix / Steve Hunt. Guest songwriters and vocalists include Blade, James Dewes Sheffield (JMS), Rodney P and Terry Hall. In 2008 Jack Cowens joined the band on drums.
The band's first singles were "There's Gonna Be a Riot" and "Best Got Better" in 1998. Their first album, Point Blank, came out the same year. Their albums Six Million Ways to Live and Y4K: Next Level Breaks were released in 2001.
To date, they have released five studio albums as well as contributing to numerous film soundtracks, including Blade II, Bad Company, and Mystery Men. They have also released a significant number of remixed tracks from other artists. The most notable of these include a remix of Ian Brown's "Dolphins Were Monkeys", Limp Bizkit's "My Way", The Crystal Method's "Do It", and Moby's "James Bond Theme".
DJ Die (born Daniel Kausman, 1972 in Devon), is a British music producer and DJ. He was a founder of drum and bass label Full Cycle Recordings and a member of acts Reprazent (1997 Mercury Prize winners) and Breakbeat Era.
Kausman was born in Devon, England and spent his formative years there before moving to Bristol in 1985 as a teenager. An early interest in house and hardcore led to a musical partnership with friend Jody Wisternoff (who later formed Way Out West with Nick Warren). Recording together under the aliases of Tru Funk and Sub Love on Three Stripe Records, they created hardcore staples like "4am" and made numerous DJing appearances at early Universe raves. The partnership, however, was a brief one.
After a chance meeting with Roni Size at Bristol's Replay Records store in 1992, this led to their first collaboration in the form of Agility for V Recordings and Die's ongoing contributions to the Full Cycle Recordings catalogue.
Together with Size, he originated the seminal "Music Box" which was to become the title track of the debut Full Cycle compilation in 1996. Emerging firstly as a core member of Reprazent and later in 1998 as one third of Breakbeat Era (a project spawned by the "Music Box" track of the same name), he soon found himself remixing for DJs including DJ Shadow, Towa Tei and DJ Cam. His remix of the Reprazent single "Watching Windows" was released in its own right by Talkin' Loud. He has his own label called Clear Skyz.

The personal name Rodney originated as a toponym: Rodney Stoke in Somerset derived its name from an Anglo-Saxon name meaning "Hroda's island" (Hroda being a short form of an Anglo-Saxon name beginning with the element hrod- "fame"). "Rodney" became a surname in the 18th century, and a title of the peerage of Great Britain in 1782, as Baron Rodney. Secondarily, it came to be used as a given name, originally in honour of Admiral George Brydges Rodney, 1st Baron Rodney.

Dub Pistols once again deliver a fine example of their extensive musical influences with their new single 'Ganja'. Taken from their 4th album Rum & Coke, the single is helmed by UK hip-hop legend Rodney P, who works his lyrics into an original blend of dub, hip-hop and reggae with a feel-good, laid-back groove. Ganja? They've never touched the stuff! With the legendary status that Barry, Jason and the boys have built up over the years, remixers were lining up to take this one for a spin, and we're not disappointed. New producer on the scene Toby Toast proves his worth with a beautifully down-tempo electronic re-working, while Hip-hop legend Skitz hardens things up with added vocals from Deadly Hunter. Atomic Hooligan, 2 Bit Thugs and Ben and Lex represent the breaks contingent, deli...

The Godfather of UK Hip Hop stops by for a chat with the guys at the Barbershop. The Riddim Killa discusses the hate and backlash his former band, The London Posse, received from the UK Hip Hop scene for pioneering rapping in an English accent when the first came out. His liberal views on drugs, what he truly thinks about Grime music and his theories on Tim Westwood.
SB.TV presents you the 1,000th upload.. We decided to put some UK Hip Hop legends on one video, hope you enjoy! Thank you all for supporting over the past few years and please keep on. This cypher features Seanie T, MC D, Supar Novar, Pesci, Skeme, Rodney P, Mystro, Farma G & Skriblah. The reason behind this is that I personally think I've needed to shine some light on the veterans for a while, they are some of the few that have actually created the scene and made it what it is today. British talent.
