Kansas Workplace Shooting Leaves 4 Dead, 14 Wounded Three people were killed and 14 wounded in an horrific shooting at a Kansas workplace and two other locations Thursday evening. The man accused of opening fire at a Kansas business and two other locations, killing three people and wounding 14, has been identified as Cedric Larry Ford, 38, according to two law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation. Multiple fatalities, as many as 14 injured HESSTON, Kan. - Update: Eyewitness News has confirmed that a suspect in a deadly shooting at Excel Industries, 200 S. Ridge Road, in Hesston is down. The information comes to us from Harvey County dispatchers. We're working to gather more details on the situation. We'll have the latest in a news conference at 6:30 p.m. ---- Hesston police confirm a shooting at Excel Industries in the 200 block of South Ridge Road in Hesston. Dispatchers say two people were killed and multiple others are hurt. The shooting was reported a little after 5 p.m. Thursday. At about 5:50 p.m., a spokesman with Via Christi in Wichita confirmed at least one patient from Excel Industries was taken to St. Francis hospital in Wichita. Hesston College is placed on lockdown. We are continuing to look into a separate shooting reported at 12th and Meridian in Newton where one person was shot and whether that incident could be connected to the shooting at Excel Industries. Witnesses have described a suspect vehicle as a gray and red pickup truck. A little before 5:30 p.m., dispatchers indicated a suspect had been disabled. We are working to confirm this information. Shortly after the shooting, Eyewitness News spoke with a woman from Mid Kansas Family Practice near Excel Industries. The woman said an injured woman ran to the facility from Excel for help and the office was locked down. The woman at Mid Kansas Family Practice did not confirm if the woman from Excel had been shot. A press conference is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Harvey County Sheriff's Office.

Columbus, GA - Columbus police body camera footage shows the chaotic moments leading up to an officer involved shooting that happened on Tuesday. There were three officers who were injured and in the video you can see clips from two of their body cameras. "What's his name? We know him," says Raymond Harralson, the officer who shot 29-year old Towon Earl. In the footage, you can see him walk towards the vehicle where two other officers are standing. Mobile users: You can view the videos by clicking here. Officer Ryan Vardman is standing on the drivers side and Officer Spata is on the passenger side. Vardman opens the car door and almost immediately the car starts rolling in reverse. Vardman remains on the outside of the car until it's shifted into drive and starts moving forward. At that point Vardman climbs into the vehicle. Meanwhile the car is continuing to move forward, Harralson screaming, "Stop ... Stop it." If you look closely at the top left hand corner of the video, you can see a man trying to move out the way. He almost makes it but gets hit by the car door right before the car crashes into a green unmarked police van. After hitting the van, the car continues to go around it, into the street and then crashes into an apartment building. At this point you see Officer Harralson raise his gun and three shots are fired. Moments after the shots are fired, if you look closely you can see bullet holes in the car. Officers are unable to pull Earl out of the vehicle because he is caught by his seat belt. You can also see a gun on the floor of his car and the leg of Officer Vardman, who is injured. His colleagues then asked, “Ryan are you okay?” The police then yelled, “Get back ma’am get back,” to a pregnant woman carrying a newborn child. In total three officers sustained injuries and Towon Earl is now facing several charges including theft by receiving a gun, possession of a firearm during commission of a crime, theft by receiving a vehicle, possession of cocaine with intent, possession of marijuana and three counts of aggravated assault for each officer injured. The officer who shot Earl is on a paid administrative leave. Reports out of Hesston, Kansas quote the sheriff there as saying that as many as 30 people have been shot, and between four and seven of them fatally, mostly at Excel Industries, a factory that makes industrial lawn equipment. The alleged shooter was identified by KWCH12 as 38-year-old Cedric Ford, a painter at Excel, according to his Facebook page. Kansas.com says the shooter, who was armed with a long rifle—an AK-47, according to one witness—as well as a handgun, was shot dead by law enforcement between 5:30 and 5:45 p.m. today. The rampage could include four or five different crime scenes, according to reports. Police responded to the first shooting around 5 p.m. in the town of Newton where a victim was shot inside his pickup truck. Another victim was shot inside their vehicle at a nearby intersection. The Hesston Record said the shooter was apparently firing from his vehicle into other cars. After shooting someone in the Excel parking lot, he entered the plant and shot at least 20 more people. Authorities have yet to identify a motive, but investigators were reportedly searching Ford's home for evidence. Earlier tonight, Newton Medical Center was placed on lockdown due to police activity in the area. The Newton Rec Center is also on lockdown tonight. People are being allowed to leave the center, but no one is allowed in. ------ Update 7:45 p.m.: Excel Industries has announced that the company will not be open for business Friday. Update 7: 40 p.m.: Eyewitness News has learned that Newton Medical Center is on lockdown due to police activity in the area. The lockdown at Hesston College was lifted. The Hesston School District also placed its schools on lockdown. Reporter Akeam Ashford is near the scene where SWAT team members have responded to a home in Newton. The American Red Cross is setting up a reception area at Hesston High School for Excel employees/family and friends. Update 7:30 p.m.: Multiple eyewitnesses and employees at Excel Industries identify the shooter as Cedric Ford, 38, an employee at the company in Hesston. Ford lived in Newton. According to Florida court documents, he was charged with multiple crimes in his history, including burglary, grand theft, fleeing and eluding and other charges dating back to 1996. Ford was also booked in Sedgwick County in 2008. Eyewitness News has not confirmed the charges in the Sedgwick County arrest. Excel Industries shooter identified His Facebook page says he was a painter at Excel. We have pulled pictures and video that were posted on Ford's Facebook page. The photo shows him holding at least two guns and the video show him shooting what appears to be an assault rifle. We know that Ford had criminal history out of Broward and Miramar counties in Florida from 1997-2000. We are working to gather more information and will bring it to you as it becomes available. Thursday night, the Harvey County Sheriff's Office issued the following statement: Around 5pm tonight, there was an active shooter situation that began around the area of 12th and meridian in Newton where shots were reported. There were also reports of shots fired at Meridian and Hesston Rd as well as an active shooter situation in Excel Industries. The shooter at Excel Industries has been shot and killed. There have been numerous shooting victims as well as some fatalities. Families are currently being notified by emergency personnel. We will update you with more information as it becomes available. ----- Update: Harvey County Sheriff T. Walton says 4-7 people, including the shooter at Excel Industries in Hesston have been killed. Walton said the shooter was an employee, and he was killed by authorities. Walton said as many three people were killed. As many as 20 people were hurt. Walton said there are four to five crime scenes in this case. More information is expected at the next briefing at 9 p.m. In Wichita, Via Chrisiti St. Francis says it is treating five patients from the shooting in serious condition and two in fair condition. Four patients are being treated at Newton Medical Center and six at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Mutual aid was provided with ambulances sent to the scene from Rice County, Sedgwick County and several communities including Marion, McPherson and Sedgwick. A jewelry store heist was foiled when the owner pulled a shotgun on would-be robbers at Joyeria Marlenes' jewelry store in Fresno, California. The surveillance footage recorded the wanna-be jewelry thieves pretending to show interest in the merchandise. While one suspect asked clerk Noe Guzman about bracelets, the other suspect racked the slide of a handgun behind his partner's back. Guzman said he moved to the side so that his uncle, the store owner who was in the back with his daughter and grandchild, could see that a robbery was in progress. The suspects were surprised when the owner came out from the back with a shotgun. An armed gunmen was fatally shot in southeast Houston by a convenience store clerk's son. Usman Seth was working at his father's grocery store when a masked robber carrying a tactical firearm came into the store demanding his sister, who was at the cashier counter, give him all their money. Seth’s father handed him their store handgun and quickly shot the suspect, later identified as Sam Abugalboush, in the leg. Surveillance cameras caught the entire shootout on tape. Three videos taken from body cameras worn by the Haverhill officers — the two worn by Ryan Jarvis and Greg Collins, who confronted and shot Hagen Esty-Lennon, and a third worn by Sgt. Wallace Trott, who arrived at the scene a short time later — and a video captured by a dashboard camera in a parked police cruiser were released by the Attorney General’s Office Friday following a judge’s order. The portions of the body camera videos that showed the shots being fired and the moments immediately afterward were redacted, but the entire encounter was shown in the video from the dashcam of the cruiser, which was parked a significant distance from the confrontation. The Haverhill officers were responding to reports of a man who had crashed his car into an abandoned bridge and was walking away. Prior to the shooting, the videos show Jarvis and Collins coming upon Esty-Lennon walking toward where they parked their cruisers on Route 302 in Bath, N.H. He had a large red blood stain on his shirt and appeared to have suffered a self-inflicted knife wound. In the videos, Esty-Lennon ignores the commands that the officers shout at him for about 60 seconds, starting with asking him to stop and put his hands up, then escalating to repeatedly shouting at him to “drop the knife.” About 30 seconds into the encounter, Esty-Lennon stops walking toward the officers, turns and jogs in the opposite direction, at which point the officers pursue him on foot. As Esty-Lennon looks over his shoulder and see the officers, he turns around and runs toward them. He appears to lunge or stumble in close proximity to the officers, and then the redacted body camera videos cut away. It is unclear whether shots had been fired at that point.
