On 2013-09-24 an earthquake with magnitude 7.7 occurred in Balochistan, Pakistan. This event was followed by a small tsunami in the Northern Indian Ocean (Arabian Sea), likely triggered by a submarine slide offshore Pakistan. This video shows the tsunami wave hitting the coast of Oman in Qurayat.
The video is courtesy of the fisherman who was interviewed after this event by a fact finding mission from the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA), National Meteorological Service of the Sultanate of Oman.

Netrani (also known as Pigeon Island) is a tiny island of India located in the Arabian Sea. It is off the coast of Karnataka situated approximately 10 nautical miles (19 km) from the temple town of Murudeshwara. Views from above give this island the appearance of being heart-shaped. Besides pigeons, the other inhabitants of the island are wild goats. This island has some of the best sites for scuba diving easily accessible from Goa, Mumbai or Bangalore. There are many dive shops from Goa that regularly organize diving expeditions to the island.

The Arabian Sea is a region of the Indian Ocean bounded on on the north by Pakistan and Iran, on the south by northeastern Somalia, on the east by India and on the west by the Arabian Peninsula. The Arabian Sea's surface area is about 3,862,000 km2 (1,491,130 sq mi). The maximum width of the Sea is approximately 2,400 km (1,490 mi), and its maximum depth is 4,652 metres (15,262 ft). The biggest river flowing into the Sea is the Indus River.
The Arabian Sea has two important branches — the Gulf of Aden in the southwest, connecting with the Red Sea through the strait of Bab-el-Mandeb; and the Gulf of Oman to the northwest, connecting with the Persian Gulf. There are also the gulfs of Cambay and Kutch on the Indian coast. The largest islands in the Sea are Astola Island (off the Pakistani coast), Socotra (off the Horn of Africa) and Masirah (off the Omani coast).
The countries with coastlines on the Arabian Sea are Somalia, Djibouti, Yemen, Oman, Iran, Pakistan, India and the Maldives. There are several large cities on the Arabian Sea coast including Karachi, Gwadar, Pasni, Ormara, Aden, Muscat, Mumbai, Mangalore, Kochi, Keti Bandar, Salalah and Duqm.

Tsunami in the Arabian Sea on 2013-09-24, observed in Qurayat, Oman (video 1/4)
On 2013-09-24 an earthquake with magnitude 7.7 occurred in Balochistan, Pakistan. This event was followed by a small tsunami in the Northern Indian Ocean (Arabian Sea), likely triggered by a submarine slide offshore Pakistan. This video shows the tsunami wave hitting the coast of Oman in Qurayat. The video is courtesy of the fisherman who was interviewed after this event by a fact finding mission from the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA), National Meteorological Service of the Sultanate of Oman. Along the east and west coasts of Saudi Arabia are two seas that contain a treasure of marine life that few knew existed -- and even fewer had ever seen. The Arabian Gulf was formed at the end of the last Ice Age, some 10,000 years ago, and the Red Sea's history goes back even further. Neendakara is a famous fishing harbour located around 8 km from Kollam district of Kerala, India. Neendakara Port as the name indicates is one of the longest port situated at the heart of Quilon on the Quilon - Alleppy High way. Besides pigeons, the other inhabitants of the island are wild goats. This island has some of the best sites for scuba diving easily accessible from Goa, Mumbai or Bangalore. There are many dive shops from Goa that regularly organize diving expeditions to the island.

At Koliyak, a village at the Bhavnagar district in the Gujarat state of India, people reach out to the Shiva temple about 1.5 kilometers into the sea. In this historic place, Pandavas, the heroic brothers worshipped the lingas that are symbolic of Lord Shiva after the fierce battle in which they killed their evil cousins as narrated in the epic Mahabharat.
Think of a temple in the weirdest of places. Under the sea. But then, the Hindus have built their temples over the hills and mountains, inside the caves, at the sea shore, near the water falls...where ever nature reveals itself in all its grandeur and pristine beauty. The temple I am talking about is Nishkalank Mahadev's temple (Nishkalank -- blemish-less or sinless; Mahadev -- Lord Shiva), and it is under water during high tides in the sea and emerges during low tides to reveal itself majestically, promising its devotees to wash away all sins. As it did for the Pandavas in the epic Mahabharata, when they wanted to atone for the sin of killing their brethren, even though they were all evil incarnated.
The temple is located in the Bhavnagar district of Gujarat state in India. From the beach along the Arabian Sea, you'd have to traverse 1.5 km into the interior. There are the five Shiva lingas that the five Pandava brothers worshipped, along with Shiva's vehicle Nandi, or the Bull. Many people come here to dissolve ashes of their departed kith and kin. The day after the New Moon day, the sea recedes to the maximum, and hundreds of people including children walk the distance and worship the idols. The New Moon day that comes in August and corresponds to the Hindu calendar month of Bhadra is of special importance, and people throng here in large numbers.

Think of a temple in the weirdest of places. Under the sea. But then, the Hindus have built their temples over the hills and mountains, inside the caves, at the sea shore, near the water falls...where ever nature reveals itself in all its grandeur and pristine beauty. The temple I am talking about is Nishkalank Mahadev's temple (Nishkalank -- blemish-less or sinless; Mahadev -- Lord Shiva), and it is under water during high tides in the sea and emerges during low tides to reveal itself majestically, promising its devotees to wash away all sins. As it did for the Pandavas in the epic Mahabharata, when they wanted to atone for the sin of killing their brethren, even though they were all evil incarnated.
The temple is located in the Bhavnagar district of Gujarat state in India. From the beach along the Arabian Sea, you'd have to traverse 1.5 km into the interior. There are the five Shiva lingas that the five Pandava brothers worshipped, along with Shiva's vehicle Nandi, or the Bull. Many people come here to dissolve ashes of their departed kith and kin. The day after the New Moon day, the sea recedes to the maximum, and hundreds of people including children walk the distance and worship the idols. The New Moon day that comes in August and corresponds to the Hindu calendar month of Bhadra is of special importance, and people throng here in large numbers.

While one moves over the bridge across the bay , one can see hundreds of fishing boats and fishermen around. Very vibrant place. Sometimes you will get rotten smell of fish while passing through the place. Nearby places are having small fishing and packaging industries focused on export. Quilon is very famous for prawn export . It will be a wonderful experience to see unloading of fish from boats . One can get fresh fish over there. A must see place in Quilon.
