The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, (commonly referred to simply as The Cosmopolitan or The Cosmo) is a luxury resort casino and hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. The resort opened on December 15, 2010, and is located just south of the Bellagio on the west side of Las Vegas Boulevard, and consists of two highrise towers, the Cosmopolitan Casino Spa Tower and the Cosmopolitan Casino Beach Club Tower. Both buildings are 184 meters (603 ft) tall The $3.9 billion project features 2,995 rooms, a 110,000 sq ft (10,000 m2) casino,300,000 sq ft (28,000 m2) of retail and restaurant space, a 40,000 sq ft (3,700 m2) spa and fitness facility, a 3,200 seat theater, and 150,000 sq ft (14,000 m2) of meeting/convention space. In 2013, the hotel was rated "The Best Hotel in the World" by Gogobot. In 2015, the resort was named to the Condé Nast Traveller Gold List as one of the "Top Hotels in the World".

Integrating high speed fabrics into the Linux network stack
Christoph Lameter http://linux.conf.au/schedule/presentation/68/ The interface to High Performance network fabrics such as Infiniband and Omnipath has traditionally been like a side car in the kernel. Software was developed in a separate section from the kernel netowrk stack. This talk is about how to integrate the fabrics properly into the network stack so that standard things like ethtool or netstat and the commonly availabe /proc/net/... things will work. This is work on progress so at this early point is it not clear how far the work will have progressed until the presentation.

In the late 1940s and 50s, Mark Rothko (1903-70) was one of the leading American artists who created wall-scale abstract paintings that filled the viewer's field of vision and became a form of environment. Rothko spoke of wanting the spectator to feel inside the pictorial space, enveloped in his canvases' luminous colour and apparitional surfaces. Together with painters such as Barnett Newman and Clyfford Still, he wanted to express a sense of the sublime, an idea associated with religious awe, vastness and natural magnificence.
Filmed on both sides of the Atlantic, this documentary chronicling Rothko's life and charting the development of his work fills the screen with his softly defined, rectangular clouds of colour stacked symmetrically on top of one another: a visual language conceived to evoke elemental emotions with maximum poignancy. There are penetrating contributions from his daughter, Kate, and his son, Christopher, and comments from a wide range of friends, artists, art historians, collectors and curators. The focus is on Rothko's demands for the perfect setting for the showing of his work, an ideal he pursued throughout his creative life, typified by the story of his iconic Seagram murals, nine of which now hang in a dedicated room at London's newly-opened Tate Modern. One of the murals commissioners, architect Philip Johnson, is among those who explain why Rothko refused to allow these works to hang in their intended venue, the exclusive Four Seasons restaurant in New York.
