Emily Erin Deschanel ( /deɪʃəˈnɛl/; born October 11, 1976) is an American actress, television and film producer who plays Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan in the comedy-crime drama Bones.
Deschanel was born in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Academy Award–nominated cinematographer and director Caleb Deschanel and actress Mary Jo Deschanel (née Weir). She has one younger sister: actress, model, songwriter, and musician Zooey Deschanel. She is of French (from her paternal grandfather) and Irish descent. She was raised as a Catholic, but does not currently practice any religion.
Deschanel made her feature film debut in 1994's It Could Happen to You. Her next notable role was in Stephen King's Rose Red in 2002. She then appeared in Cold Mountain, The Alamo, and Glory Road and was named one of "six actresses to watch" by Interview Magazine in 2004.
After starring in 2005's Boogeyman, Deschanel landed the role of Dr. Temperance Brennan on Fox's Bones, a series based on the real-life forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs. She has been playing this role in Bones for six years; season 7 premiered on November 3, 2011. For her performance she received a 2006 Satellite Award nomination and a 2007 Teen Choice Award nomination. Deschanel has served as co-producer since the start of the show's third season, and as producer since the middle of the show's fourth season along with co-star David Boreanaz.
David Boreanaz (pronounced /bɔːriˈænəz/, Italian: [boɾeˈaːnad͡z]; born May 16, 1969) is an American actor, television producer, and director, known for his role as Angel on the supernatural drama series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, and as Special Agent Seeley Booth on the television crime drama Bones.
David Boreanaz was born on May 16, 1969 in Buffalo, New York where his father, Dave Roberts (né Boreanaz), was working as a weather forecaster and children's show host as Dave Thomas, for ABC affiliate WKBW-TV, and his mother, Patti Boreanaz, was a travel agent. He is of Italian descent on his father's side (the surname Boreanaz is of Northern Italian origin). His mother is of half Slovak and half Irish, German, French, and Swiss descent.
When Boreanaz was nine years old, the family moved to the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area after his father took a job at WPVI-TV, the ABC affiliate in Philadelphia. Boreanaz attended Rosemont School of the Holy Child in his early years and then high school at Malvern Preparatory School in Malvern, Pennsylvania, and went to college at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York.
Michaela Conlin (born June 9, 1978) is an American stage and television actress best known for her work as Angela Montenegro on the Fox TV series Bones.
Conlin was born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She was born to a Chinese mother and an Irish father. She performed in her first play at the age of six and continued to appear on stage in numerous Pennsylvania community and regional productions. She attended Parkland High School in South Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania, where she starred in productions of Bye Bye Birdie and The Crucible. She graduated from Parkland High School in 1996.
Following her graduation from Parkland High School, Conlin moved to New York City to study acting and was accepted into New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. While working toward her B.F.A. in Theater, she appeared in several productions at the Atlantic Theater Company and the Playwrights Horizons Theater School, and traveled to Amsterdam to study with the Experimental Theatre Wing's International Training Program.
