Indian Sadhu Has Kept His Right Hand Up for the Last 38 Years- Amar Bharati

Sadhu Amar Bharati is an Indian holy man who claims he has kept his right hand raised in the air since 1973. Now, 38 years later, his hand is just a useless piece of skin and bone, but has become a symbol for Shiva worshipers around India.
Until 1970, Amar Bharati was an average middle-class man who lived a normal life. He had a job, a home, a wife and three children, but none of that mattered when he woke up one morning and decided to leave everything behind and dedicate his life to serving the Hindu god Shiva.
He began wandering the roads of India dressed in his simple Sadhu clothes and carrying only his trusty Trishula (a metal trident). After three years, in 1973, Amar realized he was still too connected to the fading luxury and pleasures of mortal life, and decided to separate himself from them by raising his right arm and keeping it raised. 38 years later, his arm is still up and he couldn't use it, even if he wanted to.
Other sources claim Amar Bharati felt disillusioned by all the fighting going on in the world, and decided to raise his right arm for peace. A respected Sadhu at the Kumbh Mela, in Haridwar, Amar has inspired other Sadhus to raise their arms for peace and harmony, and some of them have kept them raised for the last seven, thirteen, even 25 years.
But doing something like this doesn't just mean giving up the functionality of an important body part, it also implies dealing with a lot of pain. Bharati himself says he went through excruciating pain for a long time, but not anymore. That's because his arm is completely atrophied and stuck in a bizarre, semi-vertical position, a useless bony structure ending in thick, twisted nails that he never clips.
Indian Sadhus perform all kinds of unusual tasks in the name of religion, like sleeping in an up-right position, never taking baths, fasting for long periods of time, but Amar Bharati's choice is truly one of the most bizarre I've ever seen.

He returned to Pakistan this month and found the entire country was a "powder keg ready to explode."

Agra Fort, is a monument, a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is about 2.5 km northwest of its more famous sister monument, the Taj Mahal. The fort can be more accurately described as a walled city.
The present-day structure was built by the Mughals, though a fort had stood there since at least the 11th century. Agra Fort was originally a brick fort, held by the Hindu Sikarwar Rajputs. It was mentioned for the first time in 1080 AD when a Ghaznavide force captured it. Sikandar Lodi (1488--1517) was the first Sultan of Delhi who shifted to Agra and lived in the fort. He governed the country from here and Agra assumed the importance of the second capital. He died in the fort at 1517 and his son, Ibrahim Lodi, held it for nine years until he was defeated and killed at Panipat in 1526. Several palaces, wells and a mosque were built by him in the fort during his period.
Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya who won Agra in 1553 and again 1556 defeating Akbar's army
After the First Battle of Panipat in 1526, Mughals captured the fort and seized a vast treasure, including the diamond later known as the Koh-i-Noor. The victorious Babur stayed in the fort in the palace of Ibrahim and built a baoli (step well) in it. The emperor Humayun was crowned here in 1530. Humayun was defeated at Bilgram in 1540 by Sher Shah. The fort remained with Suris till 1555, when Humanyun recaptured it. The Hindu king Hem Chandra Vikramaditya, also called 'Hemu', defeated Humanyun's army, led by Iskandar Khan Uzbek, and won Agra. Hemu got a huge booty from this fort and went on to capture Delhi from the Mughals. The Mughals under Akbar defeated King Hemu finally at the Second Battle of Panipat in 1556. (From Wikipedia)

It might surprise some people that South Mumbai is doted with Quaint Irani joints, which are known as Iranian restaurants. And these restaurants serve Parsi food. The Parsi community or the Zoroastrians, they came to India from Iran a few centuries back. The most popular among these Parsi restaurants is this, the Britannia, located at Ballard estate. This building was designed by George Wittet, the architect of the Gateway of India amongst others. The heritage of this building is very apparent and the interiors make it even more quaint.
The restaurant itself is about a century old. It is run by the Kohinoor family of the Parsi community. They have a simple philosophy that there is no love greater than the love of eating. "Britannia Restaurant has been in existence from 1923. When I was born my father started the restaurant". The late Mrs. Kohinoor's Berry Pulao is exclusive to this restaurant. Now the berries are imported all the way from Iran and they are cooked with long green basmati rice with marinated meat, and then garnished with fried onions and dry fruits. It is an entire meal in itself and the recipe is a well guarded secret.
"And this berry, my wife brought the recipe from Iran. Here she has improvised by adding a little special masala and kabab. And next comes the Khansak, the Sali Boti. Khansak, which is chicken or mutton served with brown rice and lentils. Or you could try the Sali Boti. Now, boti is mutton served with gravy and is garnished with thin fries. This goes very well with Indian bread or roti.
Britannia also has some seafood option, you could try the Bomil fry or the fried Bombay duck and also the patrani-mach. "Patrani Machi, in Parsi language, 'patra' means leaf. And now this pomphret fish is cut into big pieces and they are wrapped in banana leaves. There are chutney added to that, and then they are wrapped in banana leaves and steamed. So this becomes Patrani Machi".
You can also ask for some raspberry soda to complement your meal, but make sure you leave some space in your tummy for some home-made Caramel Custard. "During World War II, these premises were requisitioned by British Army. So, in 1947 when I got back the place, I just painted it plain. We did not habe money to spend for that type of ambience and renovation". I am Premjit showing you Mumbai. "We are all working in unity to keep the tradition going".

VICE travels to West Africa to rummage through the messy remains of a country ravaged by 14 years of civil war. Despite the United Nation's eventual intervention, most of Liberia's young people continue to live in abject poverty, surrounded by filth, drug addiction, and teenage prostitution. The former child soldiers who were forced into war have been left to fend for themselves, the murderous warlords who once led them in cannibalistic rampages have taken up as so-called community leaders, and new militias are lying in wait for the opportunity to reclaim their country from a government they rightly mistrust.

Flushing out militants from Bhutan is the next priority for the Indian army which recently carried out an operation along the Indo-Myanmar border. Read more: Myanmar hot pursuit: Death count is 20 say army sources ADVERTISEMENT The Indo-Bhutan border has become home for the dangerous National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit) or the NDFB(S).
The Indian army now plans on flushing out the militants from Bhutan. The Operation All Out was first conducted at Bhutan in the year 2003. In the year 2003, the army had targeted base camps of the ULFA and the NDFB. The 2003 operation was a major success and the Indian army did manage to neutralize several camps. This time around too the Indian army is confident of the operation being a success.
There have been a series of communication between the Indian and Bhutan government already. The operation date and time is not something we can reveal, but it is on said a Home Ministry official. We are taking steps to ensure that the militants are not able to move out of their bases for now.

People of India ✪ The Hindu Soul - The Empire of the Spirit - Travel Guide

Ancient India is with us today in the living tradition of the Hindu religion, the basis of Indian culture. The traditions that are honored by millions of Hindus in the present were born in the Indus valley 5,000 years ago. It was a indian version of proto indo-european pagan religion. The proto indo-european langauge and religion was spread to India by Slavic Kurgan civilization. That also explains the Slavic DNA haplogroups among higher castes of India.
Encyclopedia Dramatica Article aboud India:
India (Also Known as The Place Where You Get Off The Plane and Immediately Scream, "OMG! WTH? It Smells Like Fucking Shit!") is a subcontinent in South Asia, known by Westerners for its shitty movie industry named Bollywood, curry, doctor mills, elephants, pagans, trippy artwork, Gandhi, paki shops and the ever so helpful telemarketers. Jon Stewart warns others from visiting India (in his book "Democracy"), where you can catch any diseases that ever killed anyone.
Interestingly, while most countries gain their independence by churning out an eager generation of freedom fighters, India managed to shake off the yoke of the British empire due in large part to an old man in a toga. Of course this is bullshit, liberals love metaphorically rimjobbing Gandhi and his legacy but often forget to mention the shitloads of people the British killed (with Indian troops) cos they weren't gonna fight back, or the fact that India was already descending into anarchy and riots whenever there was an opportunity. Finally when did gain its own sovereignty, which was largely due to the British running out of ammunition and money, so too did Pakistan. The two countries have been in a perpetual pissing contest over everything from religion to just plain trolling ever since.
India is one of the few countries in the world with the distinction of having nukes. But then again, so does Pakistan, which is a lot more Islamic, and a lot less fun. Naturally, the underlying nature of their rivalry becomes clearer when you consider that they were the same country 60 years ago, and that most of the drama between the two of them is over them both claiming a stretch of worthless, uninhabitable mountains in the name of national pride. Thus calling an Indian a Paki is akin to calling a Jew an Arab. It is therefore, an extremely good source of lulz. Also having the dubious honor of sharing a border with India is Bangladesh, who India liberated from Pakistan only to look down upon it like a retarded step child. Then there's China, who zerg rushed (seriously, they didn't see it coming!) India in the 60s and took a chunk of territory the size of Switzerland, which India is still butthurt over. So all in all, one can say India has good relations with its neighbors.
Currently India's most severe problem is a continuing health catastrophe caused by the fact that poor people defecate all over everything because there aren't enough toilets (srsly). This can happen to any once-proud culture after being sufficiently raped by the forces of predatory economic globalization.
Of course, India is also the world leader in tech support, so it must first solve the problems of confused midwesterners who can't figure out what the hell is wrong with their computers before it can even think of solving its own. Its massive workforce must sit in waist-deep muddy water and try to figure out why some redneck can't get his internet to work while fending off basketball-sized rats, all between malaria-induced seizures.
The Indian armed forces are greatly respected by the general public in India. Every year, over 9000 women in India offer themselves to the troops as a sign of respect.
Home to the ancient Indus Valley Civilization and a region of historic trade routes and vast empires, the Indian subcontinent was identified with its commercial and cultural wealth for much of its long history.[13] Four of the world's major religions—Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism—originated here, while Zoroastrianism, Christianity and Islam arrived in the first millennium CE and shaped the region's diverse culture.[14] Gradually annexed by the British East India Company from the early 18th century and colonised by the United Kingdom from the mid-19th century, India became an independent nation in 1947 after a struggle for independence which was marked by non-violent resistance and led by Mahatma Gandhi.

BEST VACATIONS in Seychelles. When the going gets tough, the tough get going — and the rest of us conjure our ideal escape, dreaming of a remote island with crowd-free sands, bright blue waters and a tranquil aura. But when you're ready to turn that dream into a reality, set your sights on Seychelles, a cluster of 115 islands peppering the Indian Ocean off the eastern coast of Africa. You may have caught sight of the scenery here before: The seemingly endless white beaches, giant boulders and swaying palms are the stuff of postcards, television commercials and desktop backgrounds. And while you're lounging along these famous shorelines, it's likely that the only other life forms you'll encounter will be the islands' colorful birds and humongous tortoises.
The Seychelles islands are often referred to in two separate groups. Most travelers limit their exploration to the 43 Inner Islands, basing themselves on one of the group's three main isles. Mahé is the largest, home to the Seychellois capital, Victoria, as well as the famed Anse Intendance beach. Praslin, the second largest of the primary islands, also boasts several acclaimed shorelines, not to mention the Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve. And then there's La Digue, a quiet island where bicycles reign supreme and the sands of Anse Source d'Argent beach remain unspoiled. Charter a private yacht further out to sea and you'll likely stumble across one of the 72 Outer Islands, low-lying, sandy cays ruled by wildlife. It doesn't get more remote than that.
How To Save Money in Seychelles
Visit in the off seasons
Lodging and transport costs soar from May to September and in December and January. If you can plan a trip for April or November, you can save on travel expenses, especially if you plan several months in advance.
Avoid the resorts
Seychelles' big resorts will charge you an arm and a leg for a bed and a meal. You'll save some dough if you bunk down in one of the islands' smaller inns and dine at local restaurants.
Stay put
It's tempting to try to visit more than one of Seychelles' 115 islands, but you'll save on transportation costs by limiting yourself to just one. Many travelers choose to stay on Mahé or Praslin thanks to the islands' convenient bus systems, ample lodging options and numerous free beaches.
Seychelles Culture & Customs
Comprising 115 islands located off the eastern coast of Africa, the Republic of Seychelles (or simply Seychelles) was first settled by the French in 1770, who maintained ownership of the islands until 1814. Following the passage of the Treaty of Paris, Seychelles relinquished to Britain, which governed Seychelles until the archipelago achieved independence in 1976. In their short history as settled territory, the Seychelles islands have welcomed people of varying nationalities — European, of course, but also African and Asian — all of whom have left their imprint on Seychelles' culture.
The island nation recognizes three official languages: English, French and French-based Seselwa Creole. Many Seychellois can also speak Italian or German, meaning there's no shortage of ways to communicate with islanders. You'll also recognize international influences in the islands' art and architecture; houses are reminiscent of Europe's Victorian era, seafood is prepared with hints of Asian and French cuisine, and Creole-style music and dance is infused with European, African and Malagasy melodies and movements.
The price of most services — like hotel stays, taxi rides and meals at restaurants — already includes a 5 to 10 percent tip, although you're welcome to leave more if you wish. The official currency of the Seychelles islands is the Seychellois rupee (SCR), which is equal to about 6 American cents. However, credit cards and major currencies, such as the British pound, the euro and the U.S. dollar are all acceptable forms of payment. If you decide to use the Seychellois rupee throughout your stay, you'll find plenty of establishments that offer currency exchange services. But to avoid being scammed (or charged with a crime), only change your money at banks, hotel cashiers or the exchange bureau at Seychelles International Airport (SEZ). It is illegal to exchange currency with an unlicensed operator.
Other than the occasional faux moneychanger, Seychelles is a relatively safe place to visit, though you should use common sense when it comes to your personal belongings and any late-night walkabouts. The sun actually poses the largest threat to unsuspecting visitors. Because of the Seychelles islands' location just south of the equator, you'll need to prepare yourself for powerful rays. Make sure that you are diligent about applying sunscreen and drinking water. It also doesn't hurt to bring a hat and some shades.

India (Listeni/ˈɪndiə/), officially the Republic of India (Bhārat Gaṇarājya),[c] is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country with over 1.2 billion people, and the most populous democracy in the world. Bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the south-west, and the Bay of Bengal on the south-east, it shares land borders with Pakistan to the west;[d] China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the north-east; and Burma (Myanmar) and Bangladesh to the east. In the Indian Ocean, India is in the vicinity of Sri Lanka and the Maldives; in addition, India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands share a maritime border with Thailand and Indonesia.
Home to the ancient Indus Valley Civilisation and a region of historic trade routes and vast empires, the Indian subcontinent was identified with its commercial and cultural wealth for much of its long history. Four religions—Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism—originated here, whereas Zoroastrianism and the Abrahamic religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam arrived in the 1st millennium CE and also helped shape the region's diverse culture. Gradually annexed by and brought under the administration of the British East India Company from the early 18th century and administered directly by the United Kingdom after the Indian Rebellion of 1857, India became an independent nation in 1947 after a struggle for independence that was marked by non-violent resistance led by Mahatma Gandhi.

Nālandā was an ancient centre of higher learning in Bihar, India. The site is located about 88 kilometres south east of Patna, and was a religious centre of learning from the fifth century AD to 1197 AD. Nalanda flourished between the reign of the Śakrāditya (whose identity is uncertain and who might have been either Kumara Gupta I or Kumara Gupta II) and 1197 AD, supported by patronage from the Hindu Gupta rulers as well as Buddhist emperors like Harsha and later emperors from the Pala Empire.
The complex was built with red bricks and its ruins occupy an area of 14 hectares. (488 by 244 metres) At its peak, the university attracted scholars and students from as far away as Tibet, China, Greece, and Persia.[6] Nalanda was ransacked and destroyed by a Turkish Muslim army under Bakhtiyar Khilji in 1193. The great library of Nalanda University was so vast that it is reported to have burned for three months after the invaders set fire to it, ransacked and destroyed the monasteries, and drove the monks from the site. In 2006, Singapore, China, India, Japan, and other nations, announced a proposed plan to restore and revive the ancient site as Nalanda International University.
Another ancient University, named as Tiladhaka University has been discovered at Telhara area in Nalanda. This university also finds mentions in the writings of Chinese Traveller Hiuen Tsang.

Evan rides a train for two days straight and has a close encounter with India's famous Hijrah, transgender outcasts who board Indian trains and extort money from passengers. Also, a random thing about Barack Obama and drones. Note from Evan: "I tried political satire. I think I sucked at it. I will try again later."

Once upon a time in the luminous city of Varanasi, somewhere out there in the vast Indian subcontinent I had a pleasure to use the services of a native barber. The experience at the barbershop was nothing less than unearthly. After all the experience is what matters. Unforgettable moments stick to you for ever :)
Champissage (possibly a portmanteau of chāmpi, the Hindi term for the practice, and massage), also known as an Indian head massage is a trademarked term for an alternative medicine massage therapy. In champissage, the head, neck and face are massaged with the purpose of manipulating energy channels. The goal is to clear blocks in these energy channels that cause a build-up of negative energy that are purported to cause ailments. The belief is when the energy does not flow properly, negative energy builds up, causing common ailments, including stress, pain and nociception pains and aches, and baldness or hair loss. Champissage is practiced all over Europe. Indian head massage was brought to the west by Narendra Mehta in the 1970s.

We just arrived back home from Spring Break in Dubai, and we loved every minute of it! We took over 3 hours of footage, and whittled it down to this 22 minute vlog, and hope that you can feel what is was like to have been on vacation with us!
About six months ago, we noticed that on the BeautyCon website, they were asking fans to vote on the next location for their beauty event. Dubai was the top vote getter by a long ways, but BeautyCon decided to go with #2 instead and hold a BeautyCon in Dallas TX, along with NY and LA. We felt sad for all of the fans in Dubai who wanted so desperately for YouTubers to visit their country, enough to get the most votes in the poll.
We talked about this as a family, and decided that we are able to do what we love because of each one of you. We decided to start saving some money aside and using it to go out to you. Our first destination??? Yes, you guessed it... Dubai!
A few highlights of our trip were the Burj al Arab, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, Al Ain, Desert Jeep Safari, The Grand Mosque, etc! Most importantly, we had a chance to meet so many of you during our whole week there! We held a meet-up in Zabeel Park, expecting about 200-250 fans would come. We were shocked that nearly 1,500 of you showed up, and we extended the meet-up form 2 hrs to 4 hours just so that we could meet as many of you that we could! That was one of the most rewarding experiences of our YouTube lives so far! We thank and love you all, for those who came and those who were unable to come! We promise to visit you again!
Hope you enjoy this vlog, and feel more a part of our family!
