Voters who cast their ballots to leave the European Union in the United Kingdom's recent referendum on membership in the bloc said they would be willing to pay the economic price of severing access to the EU's single market if that's what it takes to stop more immigrants from coming to work in the UK. This is after some prominent leaders of the Leave campaign have backtracked since winning the referendum to say that they may not, after all, be able to put immigration controls in place if they want to keep doing business with the EU. VICE News sent Simon Ostrovsky to Clacton-on-Sea, a bastion for the pro-Leave United Kingdom Independence Party to find out why its residents were so ready to give up on the European project. In 2014, Kenya acquired lower middle income economy status after it rebased the economy. This meant that the country changed its global ranking from a least developing country to a developing country. This ranking is now a major cause for grief for Kenya, as various categories of goods exported to the European Union require payment of various taxes unless the economic partnership agreement or EPA with the east Africa community is finalized. I know I'm not a news channel, but this video is mainly to educate on a lot of misconceptions about the EU Referendum. (though its a overly simplified version, the points still stand.) I recommend that you check each of these videos out, for both "Brexit" and "Remain" and come to a conclusion that makes sense. Free trade can only exist when businesses can actually access their markets. Being a promoter of open trade, the European Union wants to ensure that access to markets is facilitated for all.

http://ec.europa.eu/fisheries/cfp/external_relations/illegal_fishing_en.htm http://ec.europa.eu/fisheries/cfp/external_relations/illegal_fishing_fr.htm Illegal fishing on the high seas is possibly the biggest single global threat to sustainable fishing. Recent estimates show that it represents between 15-20% of global catches. As a major world market for fisheries products, the EU proposes the establishment of a system to prevent, deter and eliminate this practice by shutting the door for products of illegal fishing, thus depriving the poachers of their sole motivation: profits.

Author: Walter Boltz ( Executive Director E-Control, and Vice Chair Acer's Regulatory Board) Category: FSR webinar recording Level: advanced Date of release: June 2013 This is a recording of webinar held on 22 May 2013, moderated by Magdalena Mos (FSR Training Coordinator) Walter Boltz speaks about timely issues of the European Gas Markets. He discusses the role gas should play in the European energy market, as, for example, considered in the EU Energy Roadmap 2050 for reaching a low carbon energy system. Price developments however make the future role of gas uncertain: European gas markets seem to be at a crossroads. Walter Boltz looks at the changing landscape of global gas trade and the impacts of the shale gas revolution in the US. Gas will also play a different role in the power...
Max Keiser and Stacy Herbert discuss an EU membership market on which the more than 50% euroskeptic populations of France, Spain, Greece and UK can dump their membership burdens on to those in Ukraine and beyond who want it. They also discuss the 'sick joke' that is home ownership in Troika occupied Greece. In the second half, Max interviews Dmitry Orlov of cluborlov.blogspot.com about his opinions on Ukraine and about the failed EU trade deal that led to the crisis and what the future holds for the economy. Author: Malgorzata Sadowska | FSR Category: FSR webinar recording Level: intermediate Date of release: December 2014 Recorded on 17th December 2014 How does EU law treat capacity mechanisms? A number of European countries are concerned about the security of their electricity supply and set up capacity mechanisms to encourage investment in new generation or support existing and less profitable conventional power plants. The European Commission closely examines these state-driven measures under EU law, as their uncoordinated implementation across Europe might have negative effects on the increasingly interconnected energy markets and thwart EU energy policy objectives. What restrictions can the EU law impose on capacity mechanisms to minimise the distortions of the internal energ...
The European Commission's Digital Single Market Strategy is intended to break down the numerous barriers to cross-border online activity that currently exist in the European Union. The proposal covers a broad array of policies, including harmonizing EU rules for online purchases of goods, improving cross-border parcel delivery, integrating telecommunications regulation, and reducing burdens of different VAT regimes. While many of these proposals do not seem controversial—at least on this side of the Atlantic—some require closer scrutiny. For example, the strategy document includes a section on online platforms, reflecting the support of some officials for a general regulatory framework for "essential digital platforms." In addition, the Commission is launching in tandem with the Digita...
