Ulstein is a municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is part of the Sunnmøre region. The commercial and administrative centre of Ulstein is the town of Ulsteinvik, with a population of 6,033 people (2013). The municipality occupies the western half of the island of Hareidlandet, as well as about 30 or more smaller islands, four of which are populated. The municipality has a population of 8,208 people.
Ulstein is connected to the mainland of Norway by the Eiksund Bridge (to the island of Eika) and then the Eiksund Tunnel to Ørsta Municipality. The Grasøyane Lighthouse is located on a small island in the northwestern part of Ulstein Municipality.
The municipality of Ulstein (originally Ulfsteen) was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). It originally included most of the island of Hareidlandet (except the Eiksund area) and the Vartdal area southeast of the Vartdalsfjorden on the mainland. On 1 January 1895, the area southeast of the Vartdalsfjorden was separated from Ulstein Municipality to become the new municipality of Vartdalsstranden. This left Ulstein with 2,996 residents. Then on 1 January 1917, the eastern half of the island of Hareidlandet was separated from Ulstein to form the new Hareid Municipality. This left 2,336 residents in Ulstein. On 1 January 1964, the island of Eika, the village of Eiksund, and the surrounding area (population: 222) were transferred from Herøy Municipality to Ulstein Municipality.

The ULSTEIN X-STERN™ is a sloping and higher stern, allowing for a sharp stern shape in which the transom plate is replaced by a pointed aft. The stern is developed particularly for vessels dependent on best possible motion characteristics. With the X-STERN™, the vessel can stay positioned with the stern towards weather, even in harsh conditions.

http://www.TravelsWithSheila.com Don't miss a chance to visit the Captain's Bridge on a small vessel to answer all your questions. Viking Lomonosov carried 150 passengers and divided those who were interested into two group visits. Mikhail Lomonosov is a river boat and has a flat bottom instead of a triangular keel like cruise ships. As such, these ships must obey certain restrictions. For example, the ship must always remain 10 miles parallel from shore and if waves are higher than 5 meters/17 feet, the ship is not allowed to sail; passengers are then bused to the next port of call. That...would have been a real bummer...

There’s a sound deep inside
And it feels just like thunder
Like the rushing of white water
And it’s bursting in your head
There’s a fist around your heart
And it’s grip is getting tighter
And the sweat upon your face is running
Burning in your eyes
There’s no one there to help you now
This time you’re really on your own
There’s no one there to show you how
You have to find ... find your own way home
Caught in the spirit of the age
I rode along the wave
Accomplice to the avarice
The master and the slave
I played my role so easily
Wore my costumes well
And slapped and stabbed the backs of players
Playing the kiss-and-sell
And in this this life of give and take
You know it’s better to receive
And at the offer of an outstretched hand
I’d ask what can you do, what can you do for me
Ambition take me by the hand
And guide me through the shifting sands
Lead me to that promised land
Where everyman’s a king
Oh, feet of clay!
Don’t fail me now
There has to be a way some how
Two steps forward, three steps back
Break my heart, an art attack!
Show me everything I lack, things I lack ...
Seems to me, this seemed to be
The only way that finally
Tight-closed eyes would every see
Cracks begin to show
Swim up-stream, against the tide
Choke on faith and swallow pride
To find a new self, deep inside
That I don’t know
I don’t know!
Parsons and priests will look after your soul
But only you can exercise your self-control
And there are people who make history
While most read history books
Whilst some attract admiring glances
Most are scared to look
And if, just by some miracle, we see the light
I hope to God it’s bright enough
To highlight wrong from right
And will the signs for ‘up’ and ‘down’
Be clear enough to show?
And will we know the difference?
I don’t know!
I don’t know!
And now those days have gone,
Consigned to someone else’s memory
Embrace the changes still to come
Exploring every possibility
No shame the glory days have gone!
Farewell to broken dreams and chances missed
Farewell to shallow smiles and hollow hearts
And long forgotten promises
And now it dawned, I watched the sunrise
From the window of another day
I felt the shackles that had bound me,
Heavy, lighten, break and fade away
And if the future is an open road
I think I’ve learned to read the signs
And if the future is an open book
I’ve learned to read between the lines
