If you are building a new home, adding an extension or addition, or are doing significant renovations, one of the things that you will have to think about are the types of walls that you will have inside your home.

There are several different choices but one fantastic concreting choice that you may not have thought of is interior concrete block walls. Here’s some great info to get you started.

What Are Interior Concrete Block Walls?

Interior concrete blocks are walls inside the home that are made from concrete blocks.  There are several different types of concrete blocks available but they are all easy to build into walls.  Concrete is an extremely strong material but for extra strength, reinforcing and steel frames are often used.  Concrete block walls can be used for all walls inside the home, load bearing or non load bearing.  Some concrete block wall systems include Hebel blocks or aerated concrete blocks, and ECO-blocks.

Advantages of Interior Concrete Block Walls

Using concrete block walls inside the home is actually very advantageous for a number of reasons.  Firstly, concrete blocks are completely impervious to insects such as termites, so you never have to worry about termites causing damage to the structure of your home (especially when steel framing is also used).

Concrete block walls are also fire resistant, which is great news for the safety of your family.  They are also extremely fast to erect, cutting down on the time that it takes to build your home.  You can use different finishes on the wall depending on the final effect that you are after, such as render or even plasterboard.

A huge advantage of concrete block walls is how energy efficient they are.  The insulating properties of the wall means that interior temperatures remain much more stable, greatly reducing the need for heating or cooling. This means that you will save significant amounts on your heating and cooling bills.  Concrete block walls also provide good sound insulation, making your home quieter and more comfortable.

If you’ve used concrete block walls on the interior of your home, you can also be reassured by the fact that you have added to the resale value of your home, due to all of the positive attributes of the material.
