Tell It To The Judge | Full Movie | Silver Scenes
Screwball comedy is alive and kicking with Rosalind Russell as a would-be federal judge whose ex-husband (Robert Cummings) wants her back. Seems the cause of the split-up was dumb blonde Marie McDonald who kept popping up at the most untimely moments.

After graduating from college, Rosalind broke out onto the New York City stage scene in the late 1920s. She made her official debut on Broadway in the year 1930, performing in the Garrick Gaieties. After a brief period of time making a name for herself on the stage, Rosalind was offered her first Hollywood contract. This contract came from then-fledgling studio Universal Pictures. Though Rosalind was initially excited, she became disappointed upon realizing that the studio had no idea what to do with her.
Upon realizing that she didn’t have much of a future at Universal Pictures, Rosalind screen tested with MGM and was offered a contract by the much more prestigious studio. In 1940, she appeared alongside Cary Grant in the iconic feature His Girl Friday and met her husband during the picture’s filming. She would remain married to that same husband until her death many decades later, and they would welcome a son after their first year of marriage. That son is still around, and loves reminiscing about his mom’s fighting spirit! Join Facts Verse as Rosalind Russell’s son reveals details about her personal life.

REVIEW
Rosalind "Roz" Russell became a star at 33 with "His Girl Friday" in 1940. Before that, she did mostly small parts. There's a big gap of nearly 20 years in her career before we see her is some of her best later career movies, like "Auntie Mame," and the "Trouble with Angels"
Auntie Mame is a long movie (Over 2 Hours), but it goes by as fast as a giggle! Many of Mame's adventures are stylized, and they work best when not taken too seriously. Given that, there are plenty of amusing sequences, and just enough thoughtful moments to maintain some balance.
You would never get tired of Auntie Mame because the screenplay is simply a brilliant piece of work. Practically every line is a quotable classic
With a perfect match between character and actress, Roz's unforgettable performance as "Auntie Mame" is almost enough to carry the whole movie by itself. The story is also interesting, if quite contrived, and most of the supporting cast helps out when needed. The variety of settings and situations also helps to make the movie an effective portrait.
Sometimes you see a movie and you know that the actor or actress in it was born to play that part....Clark Gable in Gone with the Wind, Bette Davis in All About Eve, Barbra Streisand in Hello, Dolly, and Rosalind Russell in Auntie Mame.
Rosalind Russell should have won an Academy Award for this role (she refused to campaign for it) because no one will ever come close to getting that perfect timing that she displays in every scene.
You would love Russell and the parts she played. She was a liberated woman before the rest of the world knew that women needed to be liberated. But in Auntie Mame she reached her peak. Mame is so vibrant and alive. She flaunts every one of Mame's eccentricities without stepping over the line into caricature. She also brings alive Mame's decency, compassion and tolerance. Rosalind, you are "just sensational" as Mame.
You love her from the moment she shakes the monkey's hand in the second scene. Everything about this picture makes it a true classic of the American cinema; one of those rare movies that makes you laugh, but even more important, makes you feel good!!! They don't get any better than this!
No one ever has, or ever will, embody Auntie Mame as well as Rosalind Russell - Do listen to her vocal technique: from high girlish squeals to basso-profundo sarcasm, or watch her remarkable body language throughout -- from grande dame theatricality to lowbrow burlesque.
Auntie Mame is a great film, one of those kind of films that they really don't make anymore. Roz is flawless as Auntie Mame, the craziest aunt you can ever ask for. Her delivery is amazing and I'm always in awe of her complete understanding of the character. Russell herself is in her element. With a character whom it is almost impossible to overplay, she gives the role plenty of energy and charm. She also works very well with the other characters, giving believable (given the character) and usually interesting reactions to what they say and do.
A great film, wonderfully acted and performed by all. You'll want to see it again. Wickedly funny, heartwarming and great to look at. What more can you ask for?
