The background on this video: The Sun had planned to live-stream the 2015 Vancouver Sun Run from in front of the race - from the pace car. But when it neared start time, we discovered that we couldn't get a cell signal to go live. At that point we decided to just video the race and post the video on our site afterwards. But there were more glitches ahead. First, because of a malfunction, we lost the end of the race, the part where the elite men cross the finish line. (In this video, we've stitched in a snippet of video from the finish line that was shot by the Vancouver Sun Run team.) Later, we also found that the quality of the video was just too poor. The pace car was too far ahead of the runners, and the iPhone we were shooting with just didn't have the resolution to go in a little tighter.
So all in all, this video was not good enough to post on our website. But we've uploaded it here just because we have it, and because there might be some interest in seeing what 10K looks like from in front of some of the best runners in the world - even if the video is a little grainy.

Travel video about destination Vancouver in Canada.
Vancouver is the third largest city in Canada and one of the most beautiful on the American continent, a dynamic metropolis set in a beautiful location with a temperate climate throughout the year.
Close to the harbor area, the city's skyscrapers have proliferated in recent years. The capital of the southwestern province of British Columbia has developed into an economic centre of renown.
The city's oldest buildings were built less than 100 years ago because the former wooden houses of old Vancouver were destroyed by fire. Several buildings reflect the origin of their inhabitants and are similar to those in the United States and Europe.
Inspired by the Colosseum in Rome, an elegant structure of pink stone and glass, Canada Place, is located in the busy centre of the new harbor district and is also the city's most recent landmark. Close by is Harbor Centre, a modern skyscraper complex with a shopping centre and a Skylift to the top floor. A glass elevator transports visitors to a 167-metre high observation platform where the view across the city, harbor and bay is overwhelming.
The exciting Skytrain is the city's most popular means of transport, an ultra-modern train built on posts that zig zags its way through the city. Each of the city's most important destinations are easily accessible and it has reduced the city's traffic problems considerably.
For the World Exhibition of 1986, on the edge of Chinatown, gardeners and craftsmen from Suzhou, China established Canada's first classical Chinese garden, the Doctor Sun Yat Sen Garden. Its ponds, bridges and small pavilions are similar to those in China, masterpieces of Far Eastern garden design.
Everything in Vancouver is youthful, attractive and dynamic, a place in which Canadian politeness unites with the Pacific way of life!

Welcome to Toronto, the largest city in Canada and a hub of trade and culture.
“The City That Works” is full of a can-do spirit that is reflected in its buildings. From the famous CN Tower to the castle-like Casa Loma, there’s all sorts of eye candy for the architecture enthusiast. Your Toronto tour should include a trip to Edward Gardens in Hyde Park, or one of the many other green spaces located in the city. Take a bike ride along the trails, or enjoy a picnic while the local chipmunks look on. Don’t drop anything; they’ll grab it.
Your Toronto sightseeing can continue at the Harborfront Center. Go for a walk along the marina, or grab a pint at a brewhouse. And no trip to Toronto is complete without a visit to the Hockey Hall of Fame, so make sure you’ve got your team paraphernalia in order before you venture inside. Looking for shopping? You’ll find the Underground City and Kensington Market ready to welcome you and your credit card – or several credit cards, as the case may be. After a day of madcap purchasing, why not stock up on fresh, healthy food at the St. Lawrence Market? You’ll have worked up quite an appetite for delicious local produce.
Before you leave, head to Niagara Falls and take in the spectacle of nature’s power. You’ll never forget the sight and sound of all that water pouring over the falls, nor will you ever forget your trip to Toronto.

http://www.expedia.com/Quebec.d180017.Destination-Travel-Guides
When you arrive in Quebec, you’ll immediately notice its unique combination of old-world architecture, French elegance, and North American friendliness. Throw in a penchant for winter sports and a rich historical past, and you’ll have plenty to do in its capital, Quebec City.
The walled Upper Town is on the to-see list of most Quebec tours. This is part of the historic Old Quebec, first settled by Europeans in 1608. You’ll find a fantastic view of the St. Lawrence River, along with winding streets filled with historic buildings housing restaurants, pubs, and small shops.
Venture out into the oldest retail center on the continent and enjoy a croissant and a coffee, then go for a bike ride along the Old Port. This used to be one of the world’s largest shipping thoroughfares, though now it’s known primarily as a cruise ship destination.
If you’re in the mood to meet some of the local wildlife, head to the Quebec Aquarium, where you can see polar bears, seals, and other animals that inhabit the Arctic. Feeling like reaching great heights? Stop by Montmorency Falls, where you can hike up to an observation point and marvel at the beauty of the natural landscape.
All this walking and hiking will make you hungry, so at dusk, visit Rue St. Paul’s many restaurants to pick out the perfect place for dinner. The city is buzzing late into the night; if you’re up for dancing, a drink, or a cup of coffee after dinner, you’ll be in good company.

https://www.expedia.com/Iceland.d79.Destination-Travel-Guides
With a population of only 300,000, Iceland can feel like the most isolated place on earth, yet its capital Reykjavik, is only a three-hour flight from London and just under six from New York.
Reykjavik is relaxed and welcoming, yet possesses a cultural life that holds its own against other European capitals. Most buildings are built simple and low to beat the North Atlantic winds. However, the city is also graced with grand civic architecture inspired by Iceland’s natural beauty, such as the soaring central tower of Hallgrímskirkja.
Many of the country’s most popular sights are within easy reach of Reykjavík. Immerse yourself in the spirit of Iceland, at the Blue Lagoon. Then spend a day or two in The Golden Circle, an area which encompasses three of Iceland’s greatest natural wonders; Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir Geothermal Field, and Gullfoss.
Iceland’s main ring road strings together an endless series of epic landscapes. Less than two hours drive east of Reykjavik are two of the world’s most beautiful waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. Continue eastward towards Vík, Iceland’s southern-most village, where you’ll find the dramatic landscapes of Black Beach, Reynisdrangar, and Dyrholaey. Follow the ring road for another two hours into the ethereal light of Jökulsárlón Lake, where icebergs break away from Europe’s largest glacier and float for years before tumbling out to sea.
Head north and feel the earth rumble at Europe’s mightiest waterfall, Dettifoss. Then explore the Myvatn region, a tranquil lake surrounded by nature in all its violent beauty. Take a careful walk through the boiling landscape of Namafjall, lose yourself amid the lava pillars of Dimmuborgir, and peer into the caldera of Krafla Volcano.
Known as the Capital of the North, Akureyri is the perfect place to warm up and enjoy some creature comforts, before heading off into the wilds again. In Iceland, every side road is a story waiting to unfold. So come, and live your own Icelandic story, it’s one you’ll keep telling for the rest of your days.

Santiago de Chile, a city of extremes, is surrounded by the world’s longest mountain range, driest desert, largest ocean and southernmost grassy plains. The cosmopolitan South American capital has the perfect mix of both historic and ultra-modern attractions.
The lively Plaza de Armas houses the divine Metropolitan Cathedral and the National History Museum. Santa Lucía Hill is the place where the city was founded by the Spanish in the 16th-century and the Chilean Museum of pre-Colombian Art shows what life was like here before colonial rule.
La Moneda Palace is the seat of government and the place of Augusto Pinochet’s 1973 military coup. The Museum of Memory and Human Rights documents the dictator’s repressive regime.
Santiago has many city parks. Parque Bicentenario is in Vitacura, while the sculptures of Parque de las Esculturas are in Providencia. Centrally located Parque Forestal, houses the Museum of Contemporary Art. Nearby is Centro Cultural Estación Mapocho, in a former train station.
Find colorful street art, craft shops and sidewalk cafés in Bellavista. From this neighborhood, you can access Cerro San Cristóbal to look back at Santiago one more time before exploring Chile’s many natural treasures.

Now & Then Project
Week 49, December, 2014
We made a semi-annual visit to the Vancouver Christmas Market, hosted downtown on the grounds of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. A little patch of concrete tuned into little kiosks and stages and full of family fun.
With a hint of the traditional European Christmas appeal, you can see all the lovely vendors and taste the amazing (and perfectly oily) meats and pastries and chocolate. Beautifully crafted handiwork and great artisans are showcased here. Well worth a visit downtown year after year... and it has become the only way I can tolerate this consumer driven season. Sooo much more joy-filled than sneaking out to the mall.

In taking a look at some of the comments on my blog as well as the Globe & Mail and Vancouver Sun, I can’t help but notice how many people focus on the current Vancouver home prices and where they are headed in the short term. People will question how a Realtor like me can continue to recommend people buy in today’s market when prices are at all time highs. What if we get a 20% correction and the home they just bought is down $200,000. These people think waiting for a big correction and buying is a much better strategy. In this video I will explain why time in the market will always beat timing the market and how the odds are stacked against you in pretty much every way by thinking you’re smarter than the market.
Remember.. if you want your money to work for you..then you have to accept the fact that prices will never go up in a straight line. There are going to be short term volatility and price drops. That’s why the purchase of your principal residence should always be held with a long term time horizon. If you buy a home today and it drops $100,000 2 years later, it doesn’t mean you have lost $100K. It’s only a paper loss and only if you’re forced to sell will it become realized. Smart people buy for the long term, it’s their principal residence. They need a roof over there head and are able to simply hold the property thus riding out those temporary & expected short term corrections.

wn.com/Time In The Market Vs Timing The Market
Chris Parry: Marijuana Bull Market Has Started But Still Very Speculative

Jason Burack of Wall St for Main St interviewed journalist and investment analyst for Canada's largest and most popular investing website Stockhouse.com, Chris Parry about the marijuana industry and potential investment opportunities.
Chris worked at the Vancouver Sun for 5 years as a journalist prior to joining Stockhouse.com. Chris' articles can be found here: http://www.stockhouse.com/columnists/chris-parry
He normally covers a few Canadian marijuana companies a month in his articles and he writes extensively about the industry. He's also a consultant for the marijuana industry helping companies in the industry.
During this long, in depth 40+ minute interview, Jason asks Chris about the history of marijuana prohibition in the US and what it's meant for society.
Chris talks about how it helped create a very profitable Black Market, it grew organized crime and how it helped put many millions of Americans in prison for non-violent crimes.
Chris compares the War on Drugs and specifically on marijuana to Prohibition of alcohol in the US in the 1920s.
Jason and Chris discuss how now that Colorado is making about $29 million/month in extra tax revenues from their marijuana legalization program how many more states will attempt to copy them to bring in more tax revenue and this may lead to the end of drug cartels making huge profits off marijuana.
Chris thinks this will benefit consumers as they will not have to risk death or being robbed at gun or knife point to score some pot.
Next, Jason asks Chris how Canada's marijuana legalization program is different from the US.
Chris says Canada has a very high regulatory standard before any marijuana grower can get a license to grow. He thinks that makes a big different for a number of reasons.
Jason and Chris then discuss investing opportunities available right now in the marijuana industry. Chris says there's way too many penny stocks that are over the counter (OTC) in the US with unproven management teams, limited business plans and highly questionable financials.
Jason agrees. Chris thinks more conservative long term investors should wait until there's more consistent revenue and earnings growth from American and Canadian marijuana companies before making any kind of non-speculative investment into a company.
Jason and Chris discuss how in Canada many resource and shell companies because of the cyclical bear market in commodities have changed their name to a marijuana company to attract capital and boost their stock price. Many of these companies lack a business model but are masters at sending out clever PRs to boost the stock price.
Jason and Chris think the large, multinational American tobacco companies like Phillip Morris International, Lorriard, and Altria will start moving into the industry over the next few years.
