The 1950's where an important decade for music. This was when music transferred from jazz and blues to rock n' roll. This was because of artists such as Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, and Chuck Berry.
For the second half of the twentieth century, I have decided to make each decade video have 30 songs instead of 20. This is because people know much more songs in the second half then the first.

Discusses Tulsa's emergence as a boom town after the discovery of oil and its development into a meatpacking, grain and cotton center. The film also explains the oil industry's impact on Tulsa's economy, families and educational facilities. We see students from the petroleum engineering school at the University of Tulsa visit local refineries and many scenes of typical 1950's life in America.

Miley Ray Cyrus (born Destiny Hope Cyrus; November 23, 1992) is an American actress and pop singer-songwriter. She achieved wide fame for her role as Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel sitcom Hannah Montana.
Cyrus recorded music for the soundtracks, Hannah Montana (2006) and Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus (2007), released by Walt Disney Records. With the success of the Hannah Montana franchise she established herself as a teen idol. In 2007, Cyrus signed to Hollywood Records to pursue a solo career. She embarked upon the Best of Both Worlds Tour the same year, in which she performed as both herself and in character as Hannah Montana. The tour was eventually turned into a high-grossing concert film titled Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert (2008). In July 2008, Cyrus released her first solo album, Breakout (2008), which was commercially successful.
She began her foray into film by providing the voice of "Penny" in the animated film Bolt (2008). Cyrus earned a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song for her performance of Bolt's theme song, "I Thought I Lost You". Not only do we get a rundown of the features on these cars and what was important to car buyers in the 1950's, but we also get a glimpse at the 'hard sell' advertising methods commonly used by Madison Avenue in those days. And, obviously, consumers back then had no problem sitting through a two minute commercial, something unheard of in the "short attention span" habits of today's viewers. The cars featured are: 1956-59 Dodge, '56 Chrysler Imperial, '57 Ford models, '58 Edsel, 1950 Mercury and a Kaiser Henry J from the mid-50's. Enjoy. -

These classic car commercials fascinate for many reasons. Not only do we get a rundown of the features on these cars and what was important to car buyers in the 1950's, but we also get a glimpse at the 'hard sell' advertising methods commonly used by Madison Avenue in those days. And, obviously, consumers back then had no problem sitting through a two minute commercial, something unheard of in the "short attention span" habits of today's viewers. The cars featured are: 1956-59 Dodge, '56 Chrysler Imperial, '57 Ford models, '58 Edsel, 1950 Mercury and a Kaiser Henry J from the mid-50's. Enjoy. -

Discusses Tulsa's emergence as a boom town after the discovery of oil and its development into a meatpacking, grain and cotton center. The film also explains the oil industry's impact on Tulsa's economy, families and educational facilities. We see students from the petroleum engineering school at the University of Tulsa visit local refineries and many scenes of typical 1950's life in America.

These classic car commercials fascinate for many reasons. Not only do we get a rundown of the features on these cars and what was important to car buyers in the 1950's, but we also get a glimpse at the 'hard sell' advertising methods commonly used by Madison Avenue in those days. And, obviously, consumers back then had no problem sitting through a two minute commercial, something unheard of in the "short attention span" habits of today's viewers. The cars featured are: 1956-59 Dodge, '56 Chrysler Imperial, '57 Ford models, '58 Edsel, 1950 Mercury and a Kaiser Henry J from the mid-50's. Enjoy.

Marine Corps hymn starts with"From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli", and this film's story purports to be the reason why, and is give or take a few incidents in this movie: It is 1805 and the Tripoli pirates have challenged America's right to freedom of the seas---all of them, anywhere---so United Stares warships were sent to that port to bottle up their fleet and set the riff-raff right concerning who could sail where. (History begins to suffer a bit along about this point.) A U. S. Marine unit, headed by Lieutenant O'Bannon, was sent to attack them from the rear. He organized his unit around Hamet, Pasha of Tripoli, in exile after being overthrown by his brother. In Hamet's court was Sheila D'Arneau, a diploma's daughter, who disguises herself as a dancing girl, and joins the group of eight U. S. Marines and Hamet supporters in their march across the Libyan desert. O'Bannon and Shelia argue all the way to Tripoli.

During the Japanese invasion of the Philippines, an assorted group of refugees, including an American soldier, an Army nurse, a priest and a group of local children, try to make their getaway aboard a rattletrap, creaky bus. I have always enjoyed watching the film "The Longest Hundred Miles" since I was a kid. I have recently seen the film and noted some veteran Filipino actors who played Japanese soldiers. At the end of the film the cast did not include them. I was quite disappointed since these were two highly respected actors. The first Japanese general who invaded the church was played by Vic Silayan. He has appeared in numerous films in the Philippines and in the U.S. including " No Man is an Island" and " Night of the Cobra Woman ". Silayan also co-wrote a book about Filipino cinem... -

I have always enjoyed watching the film "The Longest Hundred Miles" since I was a kid. I have recently seen the film and noted some veteran Filipino actors who played Japanese soldiers. At the end of the film the cast did not include them. I was quite disappointed since these were two highly respected actors. The first Japanese general who invaded the church was played by Vic Silayan. He has appeared in numerous films in the Philippines and in the U.S. including " No Man is an Island" and " Night of the Cobra Woman ". Silayan also co-wrote a book about Filipino cinema that reflected all his work.
The second Japanese general who pursued the contraption bus in the film was played by Vic Diaz. Much like Vic Silayan he has appeared in a lot of Filipino and American movies like " Impasse " and " Daughters of Satan ". Diaz was known for his smooth talk and persuasiveness on screen.
I feel these two actors have been overlooked during "The Longest Hundred Miles ". This is my salute to Vic Diaz and vic Silayan for their excellent work.
It was also a delight seeing Hollywood actors on-screen with Filipino actors, including the little Vilma Santos.

In April 1950 Kim Il-sung travelled to Moscow and secured Stalin's support for a policy to unify Korea under his authority. Although agreeing with the invasion of South Korea in principle, Stalin refused to become directly involved in Kim's plans, and advised Kim to enlist Chinese support instead. In May 1950 Kim visited Beijing, and succeeded in gaining Mao's endorsement. At the time, Mao's support for Kim was largely political (he was contemplating the invasions of Taiwan and Tibet), and was unaware of Kim's precise intentions or the timing of Kim's attack. When the Korean war broke out, the Chinese were in the process of demobilizing half of the PLA's 5.6 million soldiers Stalin created "detailed [war] plans" that were communicated to the North Koreans.
On 7 June 1950, Kim Il-sung called for an election in whole Korea on 5--8 August 1950 and a consultative conference in Haeju on 15--17 June 1950. On 11 June, the North sent three diplomats to the South, who were later arrested by the South.
