Metro Station (album)

Metro Station is the eponymously titled debut length album by pop band Metro Station. The album was released on September 18, 2007 under Columbia/Red Ink.

Four singles were released from the album; "Shake It" and "Seventeen Forever" charted on the Billboard Hot 100. The album debuted at #189 on the U.S. Billboard 200, but reached a peak of #39 in June 2008. The single "Shake It" was certified Platinum in 2008. Since its release, Metro Station has sold approximately 400,000 copies in the United States.

The album was released in the UK on March 30, 2009. The version of the album released in the UK contains 2 exclusive bonus tracks including a brand new track, "After the Fall". The first UK single, "Shake It", was released a week before, on March 23, 2009.

Disco 2000 (song)

"Disco 2000" is a hit single by British band Pulp, released in 1995. It reached No. 7 in the UK Singles Chart. It was the third single from the album Different Class, following "Common People" and the double A-side "Mis-Shapes"/"Sorted for E's & Wizz", both of which reached No. 2.

The song tells the story of a narrator falling for a childhood friend called Deborah, who is more popular than he is and wondering what it would be like to meet again when they are older. The song is based on true events. Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker said "the only bit that isn't true is the woodchip wallpaper."

Deborah was based on a real life childhood friend of Cocker's, Deborah Bone, who moved away from Sheffield to Letchworth when she was 10. As the lyrics suggest, she did marry and have children.

It is believed that the fountain referred to as the meeting place was Goodwin Fountain, formerly located on Fargate, in Sheffield city centre. The song's riff is said to be influenced by Laura Branigan's 1980s hit "Gloria".

D.I.S.C.O.

"D.I.S.C.O." is a song by the French band Ottawan, written and produced by Daniel Vangarde and Jean Kluger. It was originally recorded by Ottawan in French.

It was first recorded in 1979 and reached number two in the UK Singles Chart the following year.

The song's name comes from the lyrics in its chorus, in which a woman is claimed to be 'DISCO', with each letter of the word standing for a certain quality, except O which simply leads to singing 'oh-oh-oh' ("She is D, delirious / She is I, incredible / She is S, superficial / She is C, complicated / She is oh-oh-oh").

Vaa Deal

Vaa Deal is an upcoming Tamil action masala film directed and written by Shiva Gnanam. It features Arun Vijay and Karthika Nair in the lead roles. The film has music by Thaman.

Production

The collaboration between Arun Vijay and debutant director Siva Gnanam was announced in August 2012 and Karthika Nair was signed for the film in September 2012. The initial shoot took place in Pazhani later that month.

The first schedule of the film was held in Theni in October 2012. The climax shoot in March 2013 was scheduled to take place in a set worth 60 lakhs erected in Saidapet, Chennai but was postponed to avoid disruption to school exams. Thus the team relocated and began filming again in Pondicherry. In January 2014, film's title was changed from Deal to Vaa Deal.

Music is composed by Thaman uniting with Arun Vijay for second time after Thadaiyara Thakka.

Deal (2008 film)

Deal is a 2008 poker crime drama film starring film actor Burt Reynolds, with Bret Harrison, and Shannon Elizabeth. It tells the story of a former poker player (Reynolds) who tutors a younger player (Harrison). The film's climax is a fictional World Poker Tour championship.

World Poker Tour commentators Mike Sexton, Vince Van Patten and Courtney Friel play themselves. A number of other professional poker players and poker-playing celebrities, including Elizabeth, Jennifer Tilly, Phil Laak, Antonio Esfandiari, Greg Raymer, Chris Moneymaker and Isabelle Mercier are in the cast.

Plot

Alex Stillman (Bret Harrison) is a law student who plays poker online and in home games. He competes in an online tournament where the final table is played live on TV. Alex reaches the final table, but is eliminated first after being outmatched by professional player Karen "The Razor" Jones. The final table broadcast is watched by retired player Tommy Vinson (Burt Reynolds), who feels that Alex has potential as a player but could use his help. Vinson tracks Alex down at a cash game and offers him his business card, which Alex refuses until Tommy impresses him by reading his last hand.

Deal (song)

"Deal" is a song written and recorded by American country music artist Tom T. Hall. It was released in May 1975 as the only single from the album, I Wrote a Song About It. The song peaked at number 8 on both the U.S. and the Canadian country singles chart.
