WASHINGTON, D.C. — Larry Russell Dawson, a 66-year-old church pastor from Tennessee, was shot by Capitol police after pulling a gun on authorities while going through security clearance.
The incident took place just after 2:30 p.m. on March 29 at the underground entrance to the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center. The suspect was in line with other visitors to enter a routine security check point.
When he passed through the metal detectors, the magnetometers beeped, causing security personnel to approach him. That's when Dawson reportedly pulled out a firearm and aimed it at the officers. A Capitol police officer then shot and disarmed the gunman without fatally wounding him.
Police report no officers were injured in the incident, but an unnamed female bystander was hit by shrapnel and suffered only minor injuries. Dawson had emergency surgery at MedStar Washington Hospital Center to treat his injuries and remains in police custody.
Dawson was previously arrested in October of last year over an outburst during a congressional session at the House of Representatives, where he reportedly yelled "I am a prophet of God," leading to his swift removal from the chamber.

The United States Capitol shooting incident of 1998 was an attack on July 24, 1998 which led to the death of two United States Capitol Police officers. Detective John Gibson and Officer Jacob Chestnut were killed when Russell Eugene Weston Jr. entered the Capitol and opened fire.Chestnut was killed instantly and Gibson died during surgery at George Washington University Hospital but not before wounding Weston, who survived. Weston's exact motives are unknown, but he does suffer from a mental disorder and maintains a strong distrust of the federal government. He remains in a mental institution due to paranoid schizophrenia and has yet to be tried in court.

The subway system of the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. consists of three underground electric people mover systems that connect the United States Capitol to the House and Senate office buildings.

On the Senate side, two separate subway systems exist. The first is similar to the one found on the House side. It connects the Russell Senate Office Building and the Capitol. The other is a computer-controlled system with three trains of three cars each that connects the Hart Senate Office Building, Dirksen Senate Office Building, and the Capitol. It is propelled by a track-side linear motor, while the train cars are unpowered. This line is mostly two-tracked but at the Hart and Capitol stations the tracks converge into one, with a single side platform. This allows easy return travel on the opposite track. The Dirksen station features a side platform for Capitol-bound trains and an island platform for Hart-bound trains. All three of these stations feature platform screen doors. A small maintenance spur is located adjacent to the Hart station. The House and Senate subway systems do not terminate in the same location under the Capitol, but they are connected by a labyrinth of tunnels.

A police officer (also known as a policeman or policewoman, and constable in some forces, particularly in the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth nations) is a warranted employee of a police force. In the United States, "officer" is the formal name of the lowest police rank; in many other countries "officer" is a generic term not specifying a particular rank, and the lowest rank is often "constable". Police officers are generally charged with the apprehension of criminals and the prevention and detection of crime, and the maintenance of public order. Police officers may be sworn to an oath, and have the power to arrest people and detain them for a limited time, along with other duties and powers.
Some police officers may also be trained in special duties, such as counter-terrorism, surveillance, child protection, VIP protection, and investigation techniques into major crime, including fraud, rape, murder and drug trafficking.
Responsibilities of a police officer are varied, and may differ greatly from within one political context to another. Typical duties relate to keeping the peace, law enforcement, protection of people and property, and the investigation of crimes. Officers are expected to respond to a variety of situations that may arise while they are on duty. Rules and guidelines dictate how an officer should behave within the community, and in many contexts restrictions are placed on what the uniformed officer wears. In some countries, rules and procedures dictate that a police officer is obliged to intervene in a criminal incident, even if they are off-duty. Police officers in nearly all countries retain their lawful powers, while off duty.

Ronald Wilson Reagan (
/ˈrɒnəld ˈwɪlsən ˈreɪɡən/; February 6, 1911 – June 5, 2004) was the 40th President of the United States, serving from 1981 to 1989. Prior to that, he was the 33rd Governor of California from 1967 to 1975 and a radio, film and television actor.
Born in Tampico, Illinois and raised in Dixon, Reagan was educated at Eureka College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and sociology. After his graduation, Reagan moved first to Iowa to work as a radio broadcaster and then in to Los Angeles in 1937 where he began a career as an actor, first in films and later television. Some of his most notable films include Knute Rockne, All American, Kings Row, and Bedtime for Bonzo. Reagan served as president of the Screen Actors Guild, and later as a spokesman for General Electric (GE); his start in politics occurred during his work for GE. Originally a member of the Democratic Party, his positions began shifting rightward in the late 1950s, and he switched to the Republican Party in 1962. After delivering a rousing speech in support of Barry Goldwater's presidential candidacy in 1964, he was persuaded to seek the California governorship, winning two years later and again in 1970. He was defeated in his run for the Republican presidential nomination in 1968 as well as 1976, but won both the nomination and general election in 1980, defeating incumbent Jimmy Carter.

The United States Capitol shooting incident of 1998 was an attack on July 24, 1998 which led to the death of two United States Capitol Police officers. Detective John Gibson and Officer Jacob Chestnut were killed when Russell Eugene Weston Jr. entered the Capitol and opened fire.Chestnut was killed instantly and Gibson died during surgery at George Washington University Hospital but not before wounding Weston, who survived. Weston's exact motives are unknown, but he does suffer from a mental disorder and maintains a strong distrust of the federal government. WASHINGTON, D.C. — Larry Russell Dawson, a 66-year-old church pastor from Tennessee, was shot by Capitol police after pulling a gun on authorities while going through security clearance.
The incident took place just after 2:30 p.m. on March 29 at the underground entrance to the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center. The suspect was in line with other visitors to enter a routine security check point.
When he passed through the metal detectors, the magnetometers beeped, causing security personnel to approach him. That's when Dawson reportedly pulled out a firearm and aimed it at the officers. A Capitol police officer then shot and disarmed the gunman without fatally wounding him.
Police report no officers were injured in the incident, but an unnamed female bystander was hit by shrapnel and suffered only minor injuries. Dawson had emergency surgery at MedStar Washington Hospital Center to treat his injuries and remains in police custody.
Dawson was previously arrested in October of last year over an outburst during a congressional session at the House of Representatives, where he reportedly yelled "I am a prophet of God," leading to his swift removal from the chamber.

You can expect the unexpected. Many of the questions can be predicted. But many are unpredictable. Many of the questions thrown your way you'll hear for the first time at the interview board. ("Gosh, how come I never thought of that question?" you'll probably ask.) The oral board interview is designed so panel members can assess your judgment, reasoning and decision making capabilities. And to this end, scenario or "what if" based questions are used. However, other questions are more predictable, such as those along the lines of "why do you want to be a police officer?" or "describe an event in your life where you displayed your leadership skills?" Or "what are your greatest weaknesses and your greatest strengths?"
Preparation is important for doing well on these interviews. You may be the best police officer material there is in the world, but if you don't articulate your thoughts to the panel in a concise, confident and clear manner, then the panel will never know that. They won't see your potential. Preparation helps you organize your thoughts beforehand so you can steer through the questions that you'll be asked.
A tip in getting the board's ear is the use of storytelling. For instance, rather than telling the panel you want to be a police officer in order to contribute to society, let them know how you were inspired to be a police officer when you were ten years old. Paint a picture they can remember of an incident. Whenever you can, tell a story rather than just plain explanations. Stories tend to stick better in our mind. But remember to be honest throughout this whole process. And be yourself. Your authenticity will shine through, and this is what the oral board panel members will pick up.
In addition to the questions above, here are three more questions you may get asked. "Name an event in your life in which you started and finished a project?" " What have you done to prepare yourself for this position?" And finally, "name a situation in your life in which you displayed the ability to take charge?" The exact wordings may differ, but the idea behind the questions is the same.
Good luck with your interview! I hope one day you return the favor when I'm in need of help on the streets somewhere. And I see the blue uniform and say thank goodness you've arrived. You will be my knight in shining armor.

Faced with the difficult decision of whether to turn in his fellow officers, Crystal felt he had to do the right thing, and reported the officers’ actions to the State’s Attorney’s Office.
As a result, Crystal was labeled a "snitch" and a "rat cop" by many of his fellow officers and subjected to threats and intimidation -- including having a dead rat placed on his car’s windshield. Eventually, in 2014 he bowed to the pressure and resigned from the Baltimore PD.

UPDATE NOVEMBER 2015: when i made this video, i had no idea it would hit the kind of numbers it has... or how everything would go down. So far, I've had nothing but success in the court case that resulted from the police raid that made an instant activist out of me, so something must be legit here... as of Nov 23rd, the prosecutor's office reduced all charges/penalty threats to the equivalent of one missed court date for a minor speeding ticket, just to keep me out of a jury trial after I refused all plea offers, including one with zero fine and zero jail. They did this on their own, because they know they can't win. I help people for free, just message me via the 'About" tab, as I get too many comments to respond to them all.

Me neither. That's why I spent 5 hours editing down the almost 3 hour interview into a digestible 30 minutes. This guy isn't perfect, and imho, has a debt to pay to society for his prior actions. That said, he's paying it off in courage and honesty, brilliantly, and I hope every cop hears what he has to say, for all our sake.

UPDATE NOVEMBER 2015: when i made this video, i had no idea it would hit the kind of numbers it has... or how everything would go down. So far, I've had nothing but success in the court case that resulted from the police raid that made an instant activist out of me, so something must be legit here... as of Nov 23rd, the prosecutor's office reduced all charges/penalty threats to the equivalent of one missed court date for a minor speeding ticket, just to keep me out of a jury trial after I refused all plea offers, including one with zero fine and zero jail. They did this on their own, because they know they can't win. I help people for free, just message me via the 'About" tab, as I get too many comments to respond to them all.

He recounted the event just as he did in testimony to the grand jury, telling Stephanopoulos that Brown was aggressive and combative with him.
Wilson rebutted witness testimony that he attempted to pull Brown into his car, and said there was a “barrage of swinging and grabbing and pulling for about ten seconds.” After Wilson grabbed his gun from Brown and Brown ran, Wilson chased after him. Stephanopoulos asked why he didn’t just stay in the car. Wilson said, “My job isn’t to just sit and wait.” But after he chased Brown, Brown stopped, then turned around and charged at Wilson. And Wilson said he was worried “he would kill me.”
Stephanopoulos asked him if he could have done anything differently and if this would have ended any differently if Brown was white. Wilson said no to both counts.

The US Capitol building has been placed on lockdown after police in Washington scrambled to deal with reports that shots had been fired at a visitor centre. One report said that an officer had been shot and a gunman taken into custody. The event unfolded while Congress on recess and politicians back in their home districts, though the city was full of tourists enjoying the famous cherry blossoms. The Last of Us uses a third-person perspective. The game involves gunfights, melee combat, and a cover system. For most of the game, the player controls Joel; Ellie and other companions are controlled by the AI. The player must traverse post-apocalyptic environments, fighting off infected and gangs of hostile human survivors. The player can attack enemies directly, or use stealth tactics to pass undetected.

The US Capitol building has been placed on lockdown after police in Washington scrambled to deal with reports that shots had been fired at a visitor centre.
One report said that an officer had been shot and a gunman taken into custody. The event unfolded while Congress on recess and politicians back in their home districts, though the city was full of tourists enjoying the famous cherry blossoms.
President Barack Obama had earlier in the day overseen his final Easter Egg Roll as president. Beyone and Jay-Z were among his guests.
Reports said that workers had been told to stay in place as a lockdown was ordered. The White House was also placed on lockdown, though CNN said this was the result of a separate incident in which someone was trying to enter the grounds. That person was also detained.
A number of emergency response teams were dispatched to the location in the centre of the nation’s capital city.
Reuters later reported that a gunman had been captured. The news agency said that injured police officer had not badly hurt. Its report was based on sources in the Congress's Sergeant-at-Arms Office.
The building has been placed under a cordon because of a “potential security threat,” the US Capitol Police said.
No one is being allowed to enter or exit any of the buildings. Anyone outside has been advised to seek cover immediately.

They told seldom-heard stories that raise critical questions about the effects of U.S. policies on three key issues: property rights, freedom of movement, and U.S. military aid in the region.

Former Israeli soldier and current peace advocate Elik Elhanan, a founding member of Combatants for Peace, addressing military aid and militarism within Israel.
