Simon Lazenby is a TV presenter and lead presenter of Formula One for Sky Sports

Lazenby graduated from Durham University with a degree in Natural Sciences. He began working for Sky Sports in 2002, where he was part of the coverage of live Rugby Union. He worked as part of the team which covered three British and Irish Lions tours.

Simon Lazenby is the lead presenter of Sky Sports Formula One coverage. Working alongside former drivers Martin Brundle and Damon Hill the channel has twice won International Broadcaster of the year since its inception in 2012. Simon began his TV career as a runner at Sky Sports having graduated from Durham University with a 2;1 degree in Natural Sciences. He quickly became a reporter on Sky Sports BAFTA award winning Rugby Union coverage before taking over from Mark Durden-Smith as lead presenter from 2002 until 2011. During that period he was the frontman on two British and Irish Lions Tours, 10 Heineken Cup Finals and countless international matches from all around the world. A keen all round sports interest has also allowed Simon to present England Test matches for Sky Sports Cricket coverage as well as European Tour Golf events, ATP tennis tournaments and the Poker Million. Over a 17-year career, Simon is one of the most experienced presenters at Sky Sports, having begun presenting and reporting on top level sport at only 23 years of age. He has a wife and young son and lives in Notting Hill in North West London.

Lazenby is a village in the unitary authority of Redcar and Cleveland and the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire, England. It is located just off the A174, a 2-minute drive away from Eston. Lazenby is very small, and has just one general store, two pubs and a social club.

History

Lazenby was named in the Domesday Book of 1086, depicted as an ancient village of Viking origins. During the reign of William the Conqueror the land was rented at one sovereign per year. In the Domesday book Lazenby was pronounced Leisinchbi. William De Percy, who owned land at Whitby Abbey, ploughed fields around the area, having been granted sole rites by the King at the time. The inhabitants mainly worked the land of the Lord of the Manor of Wilton. This did not alter for over 750 years until ironstone was found in the Eston Hills and people from out of the area came to settle in the village. The natives of the village realised that more could be earned in the mines and so abandoned agriculture and went to work in the mines.

The Rave Master manga and anime series features an extensive cast of characters created by Hiro Mashima. The series takes place in a fictional universe that exists as a parallel world where vast numbers of humans as well as species known as sentenoids and demonoids fight using weapons, magic and evil artifacts known as Dark Bring (Shadow Stone in the anime's English dub).
