I shot this video while traveling through
Mali in January.
Israeli and Malian artists have taken the initiative of establishing a new friendship based on art, music & culture. Many
Israelis have travelled to Mali with the purpose of friendship and cooperation, each one of them has returned to
Israel satisfied with stories of the warmth and kindness of the Malian people.
As
Nelson Mandela said: "Artists reach areas far beyond the reach of politicians
. Art, especially entertainment and music, is understood by everybody, and it lifts the spirits and the morale of those who hear it"
Here's the news
... This is not a charity event, this is a friendship event. Although we will be raising funds for musicians in Mali, our main goal is to strengthen the relationship we have been building with artists and the people of Mali.
Mali is in the grip of an unprecedented political crisis, one of the most serious since the
West African country gained independence from
France in
1960.
Mali's economy is crippled due to armed conflict in the
North and a military coup d'état that has taken control over the country.
Ever since the conflict began, Mali's citizens are being negatively affected in terms of security, health and in their daily life routine. A lack of tourism due to instability over the last few months has made life very difficult for local artists and especially hard for those who only perform locally.
Through this event we want to show solidarity with artists in Mali, we also hope to extend a helping hand that will also encourage more future collaborations like that between Vieux FarkaToure and
Idan Raichel ,
Yossi Fine, and Tam Tam Israel branch that organizes
Malian music workshops in Israel and in Mali.
In Israel, people who are passionate about music, treasure Mali, its music, and its culture.
Here's the
Event...Israel and Mali will become one, on the evening of June the 6th at the Barby
Club in Tel Aviv.
Celebrate Malian musician Sidiki Camara and
Senegalese Ken Ndiaye, will be joining some of Israel's best artists to make this an unforgettable night of friendship and solidarity.

They will perform together and Ken Ndiaye as an anthropologist will be also speaking on the events in
Africa. .
Here's the Point... The aim of this event is to strengthen our relationship with Malian artists and take it a step forward. We want them to know that we care about them and wish to hold hands as a
sign of solidarity.
We see no
difference in religion or skin colour, we all share the same creator and same commonalities of the human soul.
Musicians of Israel who will participate to the event have shown what can be done when people are determined to work together to achieve a greater good.
Let us hope that others will follow their example. On a global scale, the finances we shall raise will be minuscule, but the kindness and love with which the event has been created is infinite.
Israel artists and bands:
TBA soon....
All funds raised at the event will be sent to Mali and distributed directly to musicians in urgent need designated by our contacts in Mali and under accountant supervision.
