Statues of
President Kim Il Sung and leader
Kim Jong Il were erected at the
Kunja Revolutionary Site.
The President left his first footprint at Phyongchon-ri after the liberation of the country, unrolling the grand plan for founding independent national defence industry
. In the period of the
Fatherland Liberation War he put forward the policy for moving an ordnance factory to the underground tunnel in Kunja-ri, wisely leading the struggle to produce weapons in wartime.
Kim Jong Il visited Kunja-ri on May 24, Juche 56 (1967) and looked round underground workshops associated with the warm care shown by the President in the days of the war. He gave an instruction to build a revolutionary museum there and turn it into a center for educating the younger generation.
The Kunja Revolutionary
Museum and the Kunja Revolutionary Site were built on the occasion of the 30th founding anniversary of the
Workers' Party of Korea.
The statues were unveiled with due ceremony on Tuesday.
Present at the unveiling ceremony were
Kim Yong Nam,
Pak Pong Ju, Ri Man Gon, department director of the
Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (
WPK), Pak Thae
Song, chief secretary of the
South Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, officials of the
C.C., the WPK, officials, workers and technicians in the munitions industry field, officials of units who contributed to erecting the statues, persons of distinguished services and builders.
Leading officials of the party and state and officials of the munitions industry field unveiled the statues.
A floral basket in the name of supreme leader
Kim Jong Un was placed before the statues.
Laid there were a floral basket in the joint name of the
Central Committee of the WPK, the
Presidium of the
Supreme People's Assembly of the
DPRK and the DPRK
Cabinet and a floral basket in the name of workers, technicians and officials in the field of munitions industry across the country.
Also placed before the statues were floral baskets in the names of different units including the munitions industry field.
All the participants paid tribute to Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il before their statues.
Kim Yong Nam, member of the Presidium of the
Political Bureau of the WPK and president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, made a speech.
The erection of the statues of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in the Kunja Revolutionary Site is an eruption of the firm faith and ardent loyalty of all the service personnel and people to add eternal shine to the revolutionary exploits of the peerlessly great men of
Mt. Paektu who devoted their all to the development of the Juche-oriented national defense industry and thoroughly carry out the party's line of simultaneously developing the two fronts in the fighting spirit and style of the heroic workers of the munitions industry field, the speaker said, adding:
Korea, which was under the yoke of colonial slavery after being deprived of its sovereignty by the imperialists in the past, proudly ranked itself in the advanced space and nuclear powers, startling the world people. This reality is the precious fruition of the wise leadership of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il who dedicated themselves to developing the Juche-oriented national defence industry under the uplifted banner of Songun all their lives.
