Cross Road (album)

Cross Road is the first greatest hits album by American rock band Bon Jovi, released on October 11, 1994 by Mercury Records. The album contains hits from between Bon Jovi (1984) and Keep the Faith (1992) and two new tracks: the hit singles "Always" and "Someday I'll Be Saturday Night", as well as a new, updated rendition of "Livin' on a Prayer" entitled "Prayer '94" available only on the North American versions. "Runaway" was never recorded with the current band, though at that time there were plans to put a "Runaway '94" on the album but it was never recorded. The diner located on the cover of the album is the Roadside Diner in Wall Township, NJ, near the crossroads of Route 33 and Route 34.

"Always", the album's first single, became Bon Jovi's highest selling single in the U.S., spending six months on the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 and was also an international hit which helped the album peaking at number one in 13 countries. Cross Road was the best-selling album of 1994 in the UK. The album is Bon Jovi's best selling record in many countries, and continues to sell well. The album has sold over 21.5 million copies worldwide, and has been cited as one of the best-selling albums of all time.

Crossy Road

Crossy Road (or Crossy Road - Endless Arcade Hopper on the App Store) is an arcade video game released on November 20, 2014. It was developed by Hipster Whale, the company of Andy Sum, Matt Hall, and Ben Weatherall. The name and concept of the game is a play on the joke "Why did the chicken cross the road?". The game has been described as "endless Frogger."

Gameplay

The goal of the game is to get as far as possible across the roads, rivers, grass and train tracks without dying. The player plays as a mascot (such as a chicken, koala, or bunny) and must tap to go forward or swipe the screen in the appropriate direction to move the mascot horizontally. There are many obstacles which cause immediate death, such as rivers, cars, and trains. To get past these obstacles the player must advance when the path is clear or use platforms to cross rivers. To discourage idling, an eagle will appear and snatch the mascot if they stay in the same place for too long or move three steps back, resulting in the player's death. Every square unit moved forward will earn a point, with every 50 points earned signified by a sound effect. Furthermore, gold coins used to unlock mascots are scattered throughout the environment.

Road

A road is a thoroughfare, route, or way on land between two places that has been paved or otherwise improved to allow travel by foot or some form of conveyance, including a horse, cart, bicycle, or motor vehicle.

Roads consist of one or two roadways (British English: carriageways), each with one or more lanes and any associated sidewalks (British English: pavement) and road verges.

Roads that are available for use by the public may be referred to as public roads or as highways.

Definitions

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) defines a road as "a line of communication (travelled way) using a stabilized base other than rails or air strips open to public traffic, primarily for the use of road motor vehicles running on their own wheels," which includes "bridges, tunnels, supporting structures, junctions, crossings, interchanges, and toll roads, but not cycle paths."

In urban areas roads may diverge through a city or village and be named as streets, serving a dual function as urban space easement and route. Modern roads are normally smoothed, paved, or otherwise prepared to allow easy travel. Historically many roads were simply recognizable routes without any formal construction or maintenance.

Google Play

Google Play or Google Play Store, and originally the Android Market, is a digital distribution platform operated by Google. It serves as the official app store for the Android operating system, allowing users to browse and download applications developed with the Android SDK and published through Google. Google Play also serves as a digital media store, offering music, magazines, books, movies, and television programs. It previously offered Google hardware devices for purchase until the introduction of a separate online hardware retailer, Google Store, on March 11, 2015.

Applications are available through Google Play either free of charge or at a cost. They can be downloaded directly to an Android or Google TV device through the Play Store mobile app, or by deploying the application to a device from the Google Play website. Many applications can be targeted to specific users based on a particular hardware attribute of their device, such as a motion sensor (for motion-dependent games) or a front-facing camera (for online video calling).
