Looking for love as an ENTJ can be tough, but we can make it a whole lot easier if we understand how our personality affects our interactions in relationships. There are certainly many tests you can take to understand your personality. In fact, I recommend you take them all. however, for the purpose of today's discussion I'm going to focus on the Myers Briggs test covered in the book Please Understand Me: Character and Temperament Types and on Human Metrics. I have no specific bias toward the myers briggs test, I use it simply because I am most familiar with the personality types covered in their system. Once you've taken the test you will know whether you are an: Extravert (E) or an Introvert (I) - Do you draw energy from connecting with others (extravert) or from being in isolation (introvert)? Intuitor (N) or a Sensor (S) - Do you focus on facts, the five senses and the present (sensor) or do you rely on your intuition with a focus on possibilities for the future (intuitor)? Thinker (T) or a Feeler (F) - Are you people-oriented (feeler) or logic-oriented (thinker) when it comes to your decision-making process? Judgor (J) or a Perceiver (P) - Are you a decisive person who likes to get right to the bottom line (judgor) or someone who likes to keep their options open (perceiver)? With this knowlege you will be able to determine which of the 16 personality types you embody: INTJ - "Architect" - Imaginative and strategic thinkers, with a plan for everything. INTP - "Logician" - Innovative inventors with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. ENTJ - "Commander" - Bold, imaginative and strong-willed leaders, always finding a way - or making one. ENTP - "Debater" - Smart and curious thinkers who cannot resist an intellectual challenge. | INFJ - "Advocate" - Quiet and mystical, yet very inspiring and tireless idealists. INFP - "Mediator" - Poetic, kind and altruistic people, always eager to help a good cause. ENFJ - "Protagonist" - Charismatic and inspiring leaders, able to mesmerize their listeners. ENFP - "Campaigner" - Enthusiastic, creative and sociable free spirits, who can always find a reason to smile. ISTJ - "Logistician" - Practical fact-minded individuals, whose reliability cannot be doubted. ISFJ - "Defender" - Very dedicated and warm protectors, always ready to defend their loved ones. ESTJ - "Executive" - Excellent administrators, unsurpassed at managing things - or people. ESFJ - "Consul" - Extraordinarily caring, social and popular people, always eager to help. ISTP - "Virtuoso" - Bold and practical experimenters, masters of all kinds of tools. ISFP - "Adventurer" - Flexible and charming artists, always ready to explore and experience something new. ESTP - "Entrepreneur" - Smart, energetic and very perceptive people, who truly enjoy living on the edge. ESFP - "Entertainer" - Spontaneous, energetic and enthusiastic people - life is never boring around them. Some of the most important recent work done in the field on Personality Typing has been done by David Keirsey, who has created the theory of temperament associated with type. In his research, he has made observations that have allowed him to combine two of the four sets of preferences, into four distinct temperament categories. Each of the sixteen personality types fits into one of these temperament categories: SJ - "Guardians" - Keirsey describes the SJ group's primary objective as "Security Seeking." SP - "Artisans" - Keirsey describes the SP group's primary objective as "Sensation Seeking." NT - "Rationals" - Keirsey describes the NT group's primary objective as "Knowledge Seeking." NF - "Idealists" - Keirsey describes the SF group's primary objective as "Identity Seeking." Understand that there are no absolutes here. These personality types and temperaments are merely a template you can use to understand your preferences and tendencies as a person. . With a more firm understanding of your personality and temperament, you will truly begin to understand where you belong in the world and what you should be doing with your life.
