Replacement window
A replacement window is a window that is installed in an existing window opening as replacement of the existing window. Old weather beaten windows deteriorate and become loose and drafty. They need replacement not only to improve the appearance of the house but also to take advantage of modern energy efficient windows that bring about an overall improvement of the ambiance of the house at low recurring cost of heating and cooling.
Installation
Replacement windows are designed for a variety of installation situations and techniques.
In a full-frame installation, trim around the old window (interior and/or exterior) is removed and the old window frame is removed completely. The new replacement window is secured to the studs surrounding the window opening, and the trim is replaced.
Insert installations are sometimes used when replacing older wood windows with frames that are in good condition. In this case, the new replacement window is installed within the existing frame. This installation technique is simpler than a full-frame installation, but decreases the size of the window opening due to the nesting of the frames.

Choose the right
"Choose the right" is a saying or motto among members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) that is taught to children and used by members of the church as a reminder to make choices that will help an individual to live righteously. The phrase is taken from an LDS hymn which has that title.
History
The letters CTR, a reference to this phrase, are incorporated into a shield logo designed by Helen Alldredge, Margery Cannon and Lurene Wilkinson who were Primary General Board members in the 1960s. In 1970, a church committee headed by Naomi W. Randall recommended that the shield be incorporated into official church material. Since then, both the phrase and symbol have been used in religious educational materials for LDS youth of Primary age. The symbol is also used in LDS culture by members of all ages, both as a reminder of the motto, as well as an indicator of religious affiliation. The CTR initials, displayed on the shield and in other forms, can be seen mainly on CTR rings as well as other types of jewelry, tee shirts, bookmarks and stationery.

Just like my mum was attached to Windows XP (2001) I am attached to Windows 7 (2009). Although Windows 8 (2012) isn't too bad I dislike the new metro appearance and control method using a mouse and keyboard on a desktop pc. I am fine however with Windows 8 on a tablet computer and will soon be getting a Surface Pro with Windows 8 running on it.
I've been heavily promoting linux showing off countless distros to my mum who has been able to perform very basic tasks such as writing a document or calculating something. To find some of these videos of mum trying out linux operating systems type in "Mum tries out [insert os here]" on youtube.
This is the first episode in a new series seeing if other operating systems can replace windows 7. Unlike the "Mum Tries Out" series this one focuses on more advanced tasks while looking into the operating systems with much more depth which leads to 1-2 hour videos. The operating systems will initially be out of the box but lots of third party software will be installed to achieve my goals and if its a historical operating system such as DOS you will get to see a lot of old software running.
Important Points About This New "Can OS Replace Windows 7 Series":
- This series is not replacing the "Mum tries out OS" series.
- This series will very rarely release new episodes. In fact this first episode is just a concept episode and unless I get more requests there won't be another episode for this series.

Host Kevin O'Connor and plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey stop to see Echo Bridge, a 500-foot long arched structure built in 1976 to carry water over the Charles River. Back at the project house, landscape contractor Roger Cook digs up a large, established shrub by the front walkway which will be transplanted to the backyard to help with screening. Roger also shows Kevin how work on the new fieldstone sitting wall is progressing. In the first floor parlor, general contractor Tom Silva shows Kevin how to install a replacement window. Meanwhile, Richard adds radiant heat panels under the entry hall, a great solution for warming an area that was not previously heated.
