When we heard this past July that Jason Pierre-Paul of the New York Giants had severely injured his hand during a fireworks accident in Florida, many people assumed that his career was in jeopardy.
The defensive end’s injuries were originally reported as minimal, but they must’ve been pretty bad because he ended up having the index finger on his right hand amputated.
Until today, he’s been good about hiding the hand from photographers when he’s out and about, but the New York Daily News finally snagged a photo that’s giving us a good look at the severity of JPP’s injury.
It’s pretty bad.
Naturally, Twitter had no chill and went in to kick him while he’s down. Milmore tweeted, “So basically JPP is just a Ninja Turtle now.” and Jasper Jawns said, “JPPs hand looks like he was slap boxing with grizzly bears.”
Darrdan Sprolthews made a valid point, saying, “JPP ‘just lost the tip of his thumb’ if the tip of his thumb is 80% of his thumb.”
But Jason came through with that Giants fan realism, tweeting, “Honestly I still take a 3 fingered JPP over what we have on our line now, tape that shit up and let’s go.”
In his own defense, JPP hopped on twitter and today and said, “I can’t think of the last time my index finger got me a sack .
It will certainly be interesting to see what happens when Pierre-Paul returns to the field, but in the meantime… can we let the man live?

JPP
JPP is a group of Finnish folk musicians, mainly fiddlers, hailing from Kaustinen. The name originally meant Järvelän Pikkupelimannit, the small fiddlers of Järvelä, but today the group only uses the abbreviation JPP. The group still uses the Kaustinen traditional settings with fiddles, harmonium and double bass, although their arrangements are more advanced than earlier generations of traditional musicians in the area used. The group's repertoire consists of traditional tunes as well as newly written items in the old style dance rhythms - polskas, waltzes, schottisches etc. - but also some Finnish style tangos, and you can hear some jazz and bluegrass influences as well. The main part of the group's own compositions and arrangements are made by the group members Arto Järvelä and Timo Alakotila.
The brothers Jouni and Arto Järvelä are the fourth generation of folk musicians (in Finnish pelimanni), and JPP did originally come by as a part of the group Järvelän Pelimannit that mainly consisted of the older musicians of the village Järvelä. JPP developed the tradition further by their arrangements and by, inspired by another of the local folk music groups, playing not only the local tunes but also those from other parts of the country. Most of the members have studied at the Sibelius-Akatemia university of music, mainly at the folk music department.

Jason Pierre-Paul
Jason Andrew Pierre-Paul (born January 1, 1989), nicknamed JPP, is an American football defensive end for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of South Florida and was picked by the Giants in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
Early life
Pierre-Paul was born in Deerfield Beach, Florida to Haitian immigrants who arrived from Haiti in 1983. At Deerfield Beach High School, Pierre-Paul lettered in basketball for four years. After a serious leg injury while playing basketball, he took up football his junior year.
College career
He amassed 49 tackles, 19 tackles for a loss, 14 sacks, two forced fumbles, one interception and one fumble recovery as a freshman at College of the Canyons (California) and earned First-team All-WSC and All-America honors. In 2008 Pierre-Paul played at Fort Scott Community College (Kansas), where his 70 tackles, 10.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries earned him First-Team Little All-American honors.

Darrdan Sprolthews made a valid point, saying, “JPP ‘just lost the tip of his thumb’ if the tip of his thumb is 80% of his thumb.”
But Jason came through with that Giants fan realism, tweeting, “Honestly I still take a 3 fingered JPP over what we have on our line now, tape that shit up and let’s go.”
In his own defense, JPP hopped on twitter and today and said, “I can’t think of the last time my index finger got me a sack .
It will certainly be interesting to see what happens when Pierre-Paul returns to the field, but in the meantime… can we let the man live?
